And is it true that it can run 100k apps from the play store? I thought that AndroidTV only had a few thousand apps available.

I just bought the Fire TV 4K stick for peanuts but then discovered the TiVo Stream 4K which I liked due to it being based on AndroidTV and the USB-C port. I also like the TiVo app which puts all your shows from different services into one app, that's neat.

I have both firestick and Android Tv box , but the prime video performs much better on fire stick, it seems more optimised. Since both platform are android based then how come it performs differently on both these platform.

PS Can we use the apk from Fire stick on our Android TV ?

So I got this 55" HiSense Android TV and something periodically puts text in the upper right corner which seems to try to categorize what's showing? It's always wrong and it even seems like it might interfere with the sound for a second. Any idea what it might be and how to turn it off?

For example, right now I'm using it as a display for a Chromebook and it just said something about Sports Series or something. It's always wrong and it's kind of annoying.

Other times, we'll be watching the Sopranos on PLEX and it'll say something about Serial Comedy or something. Any ideas?

I have a Mi Box and downloaded the IP Vanish App. The VPN has connected succesfully but outside of the app my IP is my regualr IP. The same happens in KODI. Is there something I'm missing?

I was able to install the Play Store version (side loaded) 5.2.13 armv7a on my Nexus Player today and its working fine in HD.

Took my Player out to connect to my PC monitor to use while WFH in covid and noticed 'AmazonSyncAccount.....' under Accounts section in Settings. Tried to Install the latest version apk and it Works!

Helpful for anyone still using this old Player.

Hi all... in the past at the bottom of the “home” page i can see wifi and see selection of nearby connection for ease of connecting. Now after this oreo update i can only see network on “settings” and its the long way of connecting.

Who knows why, but after working flawlessly for 2 months, now my fairly new Philips 65inch Android TV just started failing and crashing alot. The built in Chromecast that was working so well just started refusing to work with any phone/app combination after rebooting the TV and Phones... weird.

I have a roku tv that my son cracked with a play broom and now am shopping for a new tv. The Roku tv now two years old still got upgraded to latest roku releases. Is the same true for android tv or is it a lot like android phones and completely dependent on the tv manufacture? I was basically deciding on the Hisense H8G or the TCL series 6.

Does android tv have a nick jr app? I saw another thread from three years ago but nothing sense.

Currently I can navigate to different apps without much problem. But there are apps that has a white background and makes it pretty much impossible to know on which option is selected currently. There is no inbuilt mouse pointer in my remote, but if you know some apps that does it then please let me know.

So, I'm finally thinking of upgrading my old shitty 1080i TV set. Looking at 4k TVs. One thing I'm seeing is that Samsung's and LG's are a lot cheaper right now than Sony's and other brands.

I really want Android TV, but both Samsung and LG don't run it natively. They have their own Tizen and WebOS thing. So my question is this:

Does native Android TV built-in the TV has any advantage over something like Xiaomi Mi Box S? Like, is it worth the extra 200$ to buy same size Sony TV with native Android TV rather than a external Android TV box?

We have been working with the Intel Compute stick before (win 10) but the maintenance is too high.

I am curious if there is a possibility to use Android TV to show a Google Slide as screensaver or by an Android TV App.

The idea behind this is to have low maintenance costs and it is still easy for us to edit the presentation (on another device)

I am aware that i could use the built in chromecast to cast the Google slide, but the idea is to not bother the bar staff with casting.

Is anything like this possible without extra hardware?

Since last Sunday I'm unable to start Netflix on my Android TV since 'It's suddenly no longer certified' according to Netflix.

I have a Philips 2K18 TV running on Nougat and all of a sudden (Since last Sunday) when launching Netflix I'm getting a pop-up message telling ' This version of Netflix is not compatible with your device (-13)' while it has always worked until that day.

I've tried about every trick in the book to resolve this but haven't succeeded in it, Netflix just tells me that it's due to an Uncertified model that this occurs, and they don't have a solution for it other than writing a mail to the manufacturer.

Has anyone else stumbled upon this problem and have a possible fix for it?

Hi, just wondering if anyone has had luck side loading Amazon prime on their mibox?

I'm trying to play a DTS 5.1 movie via the Jellyfin app using directstream, but I'm not hearing any audio. Is the device not capable of downmixing the audio? When I play it via my android phone it seems to work.

I'm not having luck with downmixing to stereo within Jellyfin either. Probably some incorrect setting on the Jellyfin server.

Setup: I'm using a MiBox S that plugs into the TV via HDMI (non ARC), and and a 2.0 soundbar that plugs into the TV via optical cable.

I want to take the dive into the Android TV eco system, just for fun. I have a Chromecast Ultra. But I wanted to verify a few things first.

1. I read that some have issues with Vudu 4K/HDR. Is that true?
2. Are there ads on the default launcher?
3. I heard that there are casting issues. Are those legit or overblown?
4. Can you get it to display Google Photos like the Chromecast does?
5. Any other big problems?
