NFL Gamepass International on Android TV?

Is there any way to get NFL Gamepass International to work on an Android TV Box using a VPN?

I sideloaded an APK version v1.6.6 of the app but it won't open. I'm assuming the app was made for a mobile phone?

Anyone know if it's possible to get this working? I have a Shield TV.

Cheers

Live Channels DVR and device power question

Hi, say migrating from Tivo to using a Live Channels TV/DVR with a HDHomerun. I have a question about how the DVR works. Does it automatically wake the device up for scheduled recordings? Any other issues I should know about? Thanks!

I am using the Jetstream Android TV box with a 64gig microsd card formatted as internal storage, but would also like to replicate this on a Hisense H9G Android TV.

After going to Home screen can't go back to previous source with "back" button - instead I have to select sources and then select HDMI. Can it be changed? Do all devices by all manufacturers has the same mechanic for android tv? I hve this problem on Philips android tv 8

Im looking to buy a new TV for my mom, and it will be an android tv with android built in. As I don't watch cable box, for me the upper mentioned problem is not really a thing, but for this TV after going to home screen for ease of use I would like the back button to work from home screen going to previously used input. Philips 7303 does not work that way, so maybe TCL or Sony has this figured out?

Is it possible to play DolbyVision content over local network?

Hey everyone. I have a Hisense 50H8F which supports DolbyVision, but only in certain apps, like Netflix or built-in media player.

The problem is that I have some DolbyVision content elsewhere on the network, accessible through Windows folder sharing (SMB), which, in turn, is not supported by the built-in media player (it only supports DLNA).

So is there a way for me to play those DolbyVision files correctly on my TV over network via VLC or any other app that supports SMB?

I dont want to transfer the content to USB drive and stick it in the back of my TV to open it in the built-in app everytime I want to open DolbyVision content. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks.

I need help! I recently updated my Firefox app to version 78 and I lost much of the navigation functionality I had in the previous version. I no longer have the back button and the tabs are hidden in a menu, I much prefer the previous interface! How can I go back to the previous version of Firefox which was pretty much perfect for me? I’m guessing it would have been version 76 or 77.

Does anyone know if any of the below Xbox controller will work natively with Android TV?

I have a Hisense Q8G TV running Android TV and was thinking of Nvidia GeForce Now gaming. I was wondering if any of the below controllers are plug-and-play with Android TV (no button remapping required):

They all seem to be legit Xbox accessories so was wondering if they'd be equally plug-and-play as the real ones.

“Sorry i can't play netflix on android tv yet” problem has returned in 2020

Hi all,

I’ve had a Sony Android TV for around 9-10 months now, and for some reason I can no long use google assistant on my Nest Mini to play Netflix on my TV.

I was always able to since buying the TV, but it has stopped working, I just get the message - sorry i can't play netflix on android tv yet.

I know this used to be a problem back in 2018, but was fixed. Any ideas why it has reappeared??

Cheers.

Unable to update Prime Video app on my Android TV box to latest vwrsion from playstore.

So I am using a Smart TV box (ACT4K1007 from Skyworth) provided by my ISP. Its using certified Android TV. In last OS update they included Prime Video but an old version of the app (4.14.2). I can see the latest version in playstore on the box and an update option but when I try to update it, the installation fails with an error without much detail.

I then tried to download APK and install separately, then I got to know that the version installed along with OS update is placed in system core location hence unable to update it.

I am able to update other pre-installed apps(for ex Netflix) which show up under system apps but not the ones which show up as System Core apps.

I tried to uninstall using ADB but it doesnt delete the package without root and cant install newer version without that.

I am tryi g to find a way to either uninstall/update the existing package (but unable to find a way to root my device) or may be install a different version by using app clone etc. But couldnt make App Cloner work on Android TV.

Any suggestions how do I go about this? Any way to update the app under system core or any app cloner/dual app APK which works for Android TV?

Appreciate any help/responses.

Tv with android tv or Mii box s ?

Hi,

I'm looking for advice on a purchase, I'm hesitating between buying a 4k Tv with built-in AndroidTv (probably the Sony KD49XG80) or buying a cheaper Tv (Sony KD49XG70) without AndroidTv with a Mii Box S.

I will be using it for Netflix and Hulu with NordVPN to unlock certain regions, so I was wondering what the least buggy option would be?

Thanks in advance.

HDMI ARC making Soundbar System unresponsive

I recently bought a JBL 5.1 soundbar system and when I am connecting it to TV through HDMI ARC port, the system becomes unresponsive. No button or remote works nor sound output. The same setup is working with my other TV of same brand. I am confused how a HDMI connection can cause this. Could it be due to any leakage current or TV's port issue. I used FireStick from the same HDMI port of TV and it's working, so not sure what could be the reason.

How to browse the TV Play Store for compatible apps

I don't currently own an Android TV box, but considering getting one. From my understanding, the play store for android tv is curated and only has compatible apps. However, I cant find a way to browse this "TV Play Store". https://play.google.com has no way to sort by Android TV compatible apps. I can search for "Android TV" but I get mixed results. Is there any way for me to browse for android tv compatible apps before I make my purchase?

Hey everyone, I'm your new community mod! Please ask questions or make suggestions below!

I noticed a while ago that the sub was becoming utterly unbearable due to the sheer lack of moderation, spam, illegit posts and lack of helpful content. Hence, I requested the sub from the admins because the other moderators are inactive. I have been added as a mod but they remain in place for the moment.

I'd just like to outline how I intend to improve and change the community going forward in order to make it a more helpful and informative environment for everyone involved.

New Moderators and Applications

I would like to appoint some new mods to aid in maintaining and improving the community. I have already reached out to a handful of active community members to see if they would be interested in these roles. If you think you would like a shot, please send a modmail and I'll review your profile. Please include a short few sentences on why you are interested in the topic, why you'd be a good fit for the role, and if you have any previous moderation experience.

Removal of Spam and Unwanted Content

It's no secret that the sub has been filled with spam and content about fake "Android TVs" and rather dodgy .apk files. I intend to add posting guidelines with clear info about what this sub is for - discussing and providing helpful information about anything that runs the official Android TV operating system.

A complete and robust set of rules will be added and these will hopefully not be too strict or too lenient on posts. Obviously user suggestions are welcome.

Future Goals

I'd like to look at the success of r/ChromeOS and use it as an example of a goal for this community. It seemingly strikes a good balance and makes it a great place for discussion and learning.

Overall the main goal is to improve the community, and that goal will evolve over time.

Thanks for reading, and please feel free to leave any suggestions/questions/general comments below!

App to control decibel output?

I know it is a long shot, but I was wondering if there is an app to control the output volume of my Android TV?

When I watch shows, (on Netflix or Youtube), the volume fluctuates because the editor/director felt that I needed to hear really loud music all of a sudden..

So it would be great if there was an app that could control the decibel volume coming out of the app playing the sound.

Or maybe it is simply not that easy to manage/control?

Thanks
