Live Channels DVR and device power question

by MommaGonnaCallYouOut

Hi, say migrating from Tivo to using a Live Channels TV/DVR with a HDHomerun. I have a question about how the DVR works. Does it automatically wake the device up for scheduled recordings? Any other issues I should know about? Thanks!

I am using the Jetstream Android TV box with a 64gig microsd card formatted as internal storage, but would also like to replicate this on a Hisense H9G Android TV.

I use Live Channels on a Shield TV. I don't own either of those devices you mentioned so I can't speak to any device-specific differences. On the Shield, the DVR records when it is in Sleep mode. It does not turn on the TV to do so. It is made to record while in Sleep mode and I have never missed a recording.

You should get a bigger drive if you plan on recording regularly though. 64 GB is okay of you just do the occasional recording or if you record and then always watch and delete soon after. But if you record multiple shows on a regular basis and either want to save some or don't always get around to watching them quickly, you will run out space.

One thing I thought of is that if you rely on Closed Captions, these may or may not work depending on which version of software is on your devices. I don't have a list of working versions off hand. I just know that first they didn't work, then they were fixed for several updates and then they stopped working again and there was fix on some devices. I run beta software so I never really know what is in the current release version.
