I have an older Samsung that doesn’t do HDR very well, so whenever possible, I choose 4K SDR if I can.

Thus, I was pretty happy with the newest update for Google TV where I can switch between SDR and HDR. But when I switched to only SDR, I noted that Disney+ only shows as being in HD quality.

I figure this could be because Disney only does 4K in HDR and nothing else?

Ideally, I’d like just a 4K image without HDR, but maybe I’m getting my hopes up.

Would other streaming services like Apple TV+ Or Prime Video do the same?

My Mom is over 80 and really enjoys NetFlix content like the Crown and other drama. However even the simple Netflix UI and MI Box UI is a bit too much for her. I though if I could make an app that controls NetFlix playback and series selection I can maybe help her watch / binge on pre set content.

If I need to spec my dream solution it would be something like

1. Setup remotly a series and episode to start
2. Click on the BOX remote would turn on the TV set it on the right AV channel (via HDMI control)
3. Open Netflix and start playing #1
4. Another click pauses
5. After pause of > 30 minutes shut off the TV and remember the position
6. Back to #2 when she want's to continue watching

Any thoughts / direction on how this can be achieved would be great. I can code android apps / web / backend so if needs coding I can manage.

Do we really need Android System WebView on our device?

Bought a cheap Element android TV from Target a couple years ago, I expected it to be junk, but it was cheap and was mainly being used as a Youtube/Spotify/Pandora device in my livingroom during parties. Worked perfect for six months, but then I developed 2 problems. The first had a work around, the second does not, and I need help.

Problem 1: It won't automatically connect to wifi because it keeps forgetting the date and time. Every time I turn it on I need to reset the clock or it won't connect to wifi. Is there anything I can do abouyt this?

Problem 2: Started a few days ago. The bluetooth remote won't pair after I turn it on. Tried unplugging everything, taking out remote batteries, and starting over, which used to help in the past. But that has stopped being a solution.

Problem : (I know I said I had two problems), while typing out this post, it was turned on and started going to an all white screen from the menu screen with no input from me. This is new.

Am I completely screwed? Is this just a lemon that I should accept I wasted money on, or is there a solution?

I've heard most of cams are not compatible with android but found only a 1year old list.

Can anyone advice budget(<$200) cam with proper video, sound quality and wide (120+) angle?
Is better solution to connect pc with windows?

My in-laws just moved to YTTV and they really like the experience at my house of the Google TV, but they don't have any 4K TVs. A cheaper solution like the Walmart Onn 2K stick would be perfect for then.

I'm looking at purchasing a Sony Bravia TV which now has Google TV built in, but I don't love the complicated remote that comes with it.  Can you pair the Chromecast Voice Remote directly with a tv running android/Google TV as a second remote?   I've seen a few people ask the question but no one has tried it an given an answer.

I was wondering if I could play 4k HDR movies in Mi LED TV 4S 55'' from my USB drive. Before buying one I wanted to be sure if I could play. I have a huge collection of 4K movies in my HDD so if I could play them it would be great. FYI those 4k movies are pretty big in size , almost 10 GB each

I've used Fire TVs for years, and have always used apps like Apps2Fire and Easy Fire Tools to easily transfer and install APKs downloaded on my phone to my FTV devices. I was searching for a similar app for Google TV, but every search for how to sideload on Chromecast/GTV just shows the cloud drive or USB + file manger method. Is there no phone app that makes this easier, and not require a file manager to be installed?

Can you Google assistant or even Alexa launch sideloaded apps on android TV?

I have tried to play various 4K videos (from 8 to 30GB) via an usb-c hub on my recently bought Google TV chromecast and they are almost unplayable in varios media players. I tried VLC, native player, ES File Explorer.

I have used a 120GB usb 3.0 and a 1TB HDD, both formatted to NTFS and opening them via ES File Explorer. They both work well in my Sony Bravia smart tv, but not with the Google TV Chromecast.

Any idea to play the files? Is the chromecast not powerfull enough?

So my 75" Sony Bravia just updated to the latest Android TV... like many other people here I'm shocked and enraged about the recommendations / suggestions / ads of whatever the fuck they are all over my home screen.

Fucking dancing with the stars and big brother on an app I dont and never will use! No way to switch it off! I am absolutely fucking livid, I feel like my expensive TV is ruined!

From what I have read so far there is no solution other than rolling back to an older OS? Please let me know if there is a better solution

I have the Logitech C920 webcam connected to Sony Bravia (850G) TV. I sideloaded Zoom and everything except the Microphone works. For some reason the microphone is not working so no one can hear me.

I read that it could be because of the built-in microphone on the remote. Is there anything that can be done to switch to the webcam microphone to make it work?

It worked late last night, but today it has lost its mind.

When the Chromecast is on the home screen, and I try to move down to my row of apps, it hangs up on the advertising frame that cycles through ads for stuff I'm not interested in on channels I don't subscribe to. And instead of those ads cycling through every few seconds like I'm used to, they're cycling fast enough in only seeing the residual images of one or two. It's really just zooming by. Then I can't move off of that.

I have a workaround for when it's stuck. I can use the Home key to put the cursor back on the menu on top of the screen, then move to Apps, and choose the app I want to use (usually YouTube).

I have reset the Chromecast to factory spec and it didn't correct this problem.

Any ideas?

Hi all. I have a Mi tv 4X. I want to know how to set custom screen saver for my tv. There is no option for custom pics in the screen saver settings.

If a third party app is the way then can you suggest any good apps? I want to use pics that i took.
