I want to calibrate the color of my tv screen. Android tv has display calibration settings but its unusable because the calibration options doesn't float on screen, on top of an image use as a reference for color calibration. Is there any functional app that can calibrate my tv display properly?

Have a weird problem with our Philips Ambilight Smart TV.

With growing regularity it informs us the Ethernet is not connected. Checking the IP address it shows as having an internal address.of 173.xxx.xxx.xxx rather than the home network 192.168.0.xxx

We have cable internet, and have run an ethernet cable from the modem/router into a 10/100 switch. Then a cable from the switch to the TV, we also have a PS connected via the same Switch. When the "ethernet isn't connected" message shows up the PS is connected just fine. I have switched the cables, between devices and switched out for new ones.

I have factory reset the SmartTV but the problem returns withing 24-48 hours.

Any ideas?

I have a Google 4K TV. I stream files from my laptop to this device using chromecast on chrome browser.

Is there a way to use the remote to pause rewind and fast forward?

Would I have to use another app? Is there a simple and quick one that's as easy as dragging and dropping the file into my chrome broswer on pc but still allows me to use the remote?

I tested out my TV with a Dolby Vision file, which was an MP4, and the TV recognized that it was Dolby vision, and it automatically adjusted the screen's picture profile. The result was a highly contrasted picture that I enjoyed.

This however, does not happen when I use a MKV file. Can someone please explain why this is, and how to make the Sony A8 recognize that it is a Dolby Vision file, and that it can use it's Dolby Vision settings.

The file was streamed via Kodi 19. Any help in this matter is deeply appreciated.

Hey everyone, hoping someone can help with this. About a month ago, my wife and I bought a new Sony Bravia X85J after finally managing to get our hands on a PS5. First time owning a smart TV and we’ve been loving it so far. Linked up our Google accounts with no hassle, using my wife’s as the primary.

We use streaming apps for almost everything and those are all working fine. However, we did purchase the new season of Rick and Morty through Google TV so we could watch new episodes right after they premiered. Spent $24.99 to gain access to the whole season.

For the last week, Google TV videos aren’t loading and the search function is not working. I’ll search for something, even using the voice control function on the remote, and it just loads for a few seconds before eventually just returning the screen to normal and doing nothing.

Before this, new episodes of Rick and Morty would not appear in “My episodes” until after being searched. It was really weird, and it’s like Google needed a search done in order to trigger the new episode showing as available. Now, that won’t work at all. It’s been over a week since Ep. 7 premiered and it still isn’t showing in My Episodes. The new one from this week isn’t either.

Has anybody run into this problem? I’ve cleared the caches from the Google apps on my TV, restarted the whole thing, unplugged it and plugged it back in…I’m out of ideas. Really hoping someone here can share some guidance before I have to try contacting Google customer service.

Don't know if this has been answered here yet or not, but I sure need help. Everytime I ask it to turn off in whatever minutes, I always get the message of "sleep timer can only be set if there's media playing" even when I have YouTube or Spotify playing. Very frustrating. Not even the "help" links Google sends you to help so I'm hoping actual people can. Thanks.

I can not acces settings in my TV. The name of TV is VIVAX everytime i go to settings it doesnt open i would like to factory reset it but im not able to access setings. Is there a way to factory reset with an usb or something?

I have a surround sound audio system, it has CEC volume control. I had a old ish JVC TV that I used the system with and it allowed me to control ONLY the audio systems volume, the TV speakers had no sound at all. Now I have a new JVC TV running Android and I have the HDMI CEC plugged in and on and it recognises it however whenever I use the volume it controls the TV volume also. Incredibly annoying and I have no idea how to fix it. I saw online about using ARC port. So I have and it's no different. I'm really at a loss.

There is one app on my Android TV I use that requires me to be connected to another country via a VPN (using Nord VPN here). I turn the VPN on when I want to use the app, and then off once I'm done. Is there a way to always route that one app through the VPN?

I have a family YouTube Premium account and would like to have the YouTube app on my Android TV make use of it's benefits (no ads) while keeping the search history/recommendations separate. Is that possible?

why? Videos watched on the TV end up showing as recommendation to me on my computer/phone.

I'm intrigued by the relatively cheap Android boxes with 4GB ram and gigabit Ethernet and USB port. I understand the gotcha is they're not Netflix certified. But I don't care about Netflix because my TV has Netflix and prime video etc all in 4k and I can just use that. I want the box for apps my TV is missing, like HBO max, and to have Ethernet port with no dongle (my house is wired up so I prefer to use Ethernet on all my stationary devices) and to maybe play back media directly from USB drive

Reviews almost never mention apps besides Netflix and prime like HBO max. If the box isn't Netflix certified does that mean it can't play HBO max in hd or 4k either? Not to mention other services like paramount+ or whatever may crop up later. Surely all these services don't require certification individually?

(PS Yes I know I can just buy the shield but, you know, money)

I love using Google TV for my Sony TV but I also love the Apple TV siri remote. If I connected it as a Bluetooth remote would it work? Has anyone tried this?

I'm looking into getting an android tv / google tv device soon for our shared tv in my family living room (me and my parents, with occasional viewing from sisters' kids coming over). I've since decided that I'd rather make a seperate google account for the TV as recommendations is a big concern for me and I'd only consider logging everyone in on their own google account once multi user profiles for the google tv / android tv is enabled.

My question is, if I sign in on my "family google account" and then launch YouTube, but sign out of YouTube inside the app, will it remain signed out? I don't see myself really scrolling through the YouTube tv app, but more casting than anything else.

For the 1st time tonight I noticed that a show from AppleTV showed up under "Continue Watching". This is great.

Any word on Prime Video similar improvement? Or plex? Also does Hulu work that way does anyone know?

Like many others, I had issues with my Onn AndroidTV crashing regularly. Recently I was in the app store and I noticed there were two updates to System Apps - WebView and Android TV Services. Tongue firmly planted in cheek, I haven't had any crash issues since I installed those updates.

Don't know if its a fix or just coincidence, but figured I would share in case it might help someone.

I guess I'm asking if it's possible to change the default Android player ....
I have a relatively new Google TV with Chromecast that I'm using (among other things) to play video streaming from a cheap Geeni cam that my husband picked up at Waldemart. The wifi works great and the video is good quality, but I can only load the video using a voice command or search for the device, and the default player is crappy. A menu pops up from the bottom frequently, and after a few minutes the video stops. I can find no way to get an IP address.

Of course I could just look at the app on my phone, but I want it to be playing on a separate screen all day. Gotta keep an eye on my baby turkeys.

Right now I'm using Chromecast to stream from the Geeni app on a cheap Android tablet, but the quality s*cks and I shouldn't have to do that anyhow. I think it's ridiculous that I can't view it on a PC.

A lot of previous Google searches for this problem are from 2019 and involve Nest. I'm not looking for a Nest solution, and it looks like the problem was never solved.

Don't even get me started on trying to use this camera with Alexa
