I have a Google 4K TV. I stream files from my laptop to this device using chromecast on chrome browser.
Is there a way to use the remote to pause rewind and fast forward?
Would I have to use another app? Is there a simple and quick one that's as easy as dragging and dropping the file into my chrome broswer on pc but still allows me to use the remote?

You can add an network server link on Android TV for your laptop. I am assuming you are on Windows, enable network share on File Explorer. Install Any File Manager with ftp, WebDAV, SMB support (I recommend FX, also download FX Plus plugin apk from internet for free or paily if you want, the other recommendation will be Explore File Manager). In FX go to Network > Add > SMB (Windows) > Click on browse then fill other details & you are done. On explore select LAN > (Your Laptop's Name) > enter username & passward done.
With this all of your Laptop's files can be accessed on the TV using Remote. Remember to click "Save Password" so you don't need to do this again.
