Cannot watch 4K movies through YouTube

So I have a bunch of movies that I purchased back when Google Movies was a thing, apparently that's no longer a thing but I can access those movies through YouTube or Google TV. They're all 4k movies but when I go to watch any of them they only playback at 720p or 1080p. I'm a little mad cause I spent all this money on 4k movies and can't even watch them. I'm using a Vizio P Series Quantum TV. Any ideas on what to do ?

Build-in chrome cast VS Chrome cast gen 1

hey, so I have a Philips 55pus8303 smart tv and my dad just bought a new chrome cast so he gave the old chrome cast gen 1 to me. Because right now I can't turn off my tv with the build-in chrome cast.

So my question is what resolution does the build-in chrome cast have? since the old chrome cast only have 1080p at 30fps

Google Chromecast with Google TV on a Roku TV (Overscan issue question)

Hey there. Google decided to forego the Overscan options in their devices beyond Android 10. So, we have to rely on using our TV settings to fix the overscan (when parts of the screen go outside the visible screen of the TV). Too many apps have things on the edges of the screen that can be missed if it scans outside of the screen. Does anyone with a Roku TV, with a GCwGoogleTV to HDMI, if changing the Screen Size fixes this? (I haven't bought a new TV yet, but I am shopping and this will be helpful info...) -GB.

Is it better to have a separate Google account just for an Android TV used in a household?

I was wondering whether it would be a bad idea to use my personal Google account for the Android TV that everyone uses in my house. I am not particularly keen on having my personal account on a non-personal device like a TV. For example, I do not want my recommendations and other stuff getting messed because everyone else is using my account. Also, I don't know if apps like YouTube auto logins to the same Google account used for setting up the TV. If it does, that would be a huge issue for me.

Do you think it is better to have a dedicated Google account just for this purpose? It would be more or less used as a family account only. One main advantage that I can think is that when I am not there and if the TV needs to be reset or something in the rare scenario. I wouldn't have to share my personal account's password to re-setup the TV.

HDMI CEC conflict with Mi Stick?

Hello there, i have had a Xiaomi Mi stick for several weeks, and i just bought a new soundbar + sub combo for my tv (Sony HT-S350, TV is Lg 47LM640S), since then, my experience with the soundbar has been pretty much hit or miss, and initially i couldn't figure out why. The problem was that many times, when turning on the TV, the soundbar wouldn't turn on, but sometimes it wouldn't, by troubleshooting it for 2 days straight, i have found the cause, but not a solution. If i turn on my tv while the Mi Stick is on, the soundbar won't work, if i turn the tv off again, turn off the Mi Stick with his own remote, and then turn the tv on again, the soundbar works like a charm. so to me it seems like there's some conflict with the HDMI CEC controls, but i can't quite figure out how to solve this. I have tried switching the hdmi ports of the stick and the soundbar to no avail

Is there something i can do on the android side of things that would "disable" CEC on the mi stick? or do you have any possible solution to this problem?

AndroidTV Watchlist ... so close, yet so far.

Google FINALLY adds a watchlist to AndroidTV. Hooray! Finally, I can keep track of the shows that I watch!

EXCEPT.

All it does it display the show that I have added to a watchlist. It does not keep track of unwatched episodes. Lets say that I add Ted Lasso to my Watchlist. It shows up. Great. Then I watch all of the episodes. It should then go away, because in reality, there is nothing for me to watch there. Then, a year from now, season 3 comes out... it should "magically" reappear in my watchlist because I now have something to watch again.

And before anyone says it can't be done... many other services do this (Reelgood, WatchAid on AppleTV, etc).

Cmon Google. Lets get AndroidTV over the finish line and make it the true hub of the living room entertainment system.

New Android TV Box help

I currently have a Nvidia Shield that I bought from Amazon back in November 2019 that I overpaid for ($299) and I haven't even used the controller once. I'm having several issues with a few apps and the only way to get it to back working is to restart the device. I'm sure it's the device (it's up to date) and not the apps or the WiFi because I have an older smart TV (Sony that I bought new 6ish years ago now) that when using the same apps it doesn't do this. It's just slow to load up those apps and to navigate through them (which is why I bought the Shield and it was amazing at first before these issues).

Football is starting and I don't want to have to restart the Shield through the games but at the same time I don't want to spend a ton of money to have something be flakey like the Shield. I have a Roku stick on my bedroom TV as it's not a smart TV and it's sluggish as well, not as bad as the main Sony TV but enough so that I want something else.

Android 11 TV update

I have been digging around for details of when Android 11 TV update was released, but I can only find the official announcement and nothing on it rolling out to consumer devices. I have a Chromecast with Google TV, and I tend to think that if the latest from Google is still on Android 10, probably none out there is on Android 11 TV.

So, my question is, did Android 11 TV ever make it to any consumer devices or it's stuck on the ADT-3 dev kit?

Is it worth the upgrade?

I have a Chinese Amlogic Android TV box. I upgraded it from Android 7.1 (tablet version) to Android TV 9 and now I'm contemplating whether I should upgrade it to Android TV 11. Is it worth taking the time to upgrade? What are some must have features that are present in ATV 11 that's worth the upgrade? Also realised ATV 11 comes with the new Discover Ui which I'm not really a fan of but I don't mind changing for a custom launcher. Thank you

Home button being over ridden

Does anyone else have an issue where streaming apps like Netflix and Hulu are over riding the home button? It's starting to get annoying when you can't press home and go home because the app asks you if your sure you want to exit. Tonight I had to pull the power on my shield tv because Netflix wouldn't exit when you hit yes.

Good tv box for xbox game pass

Hello everyone, I have a question to anyone that installed Xbox Game Pass app on their android tv boxes. Does anybody has a good one that it works well?

I've installed it on my sony android tv, but the menu part works terrible. Whole app loads about a minute, moving in menu is barely possible, only when I start game, the streaming part works good. I know that this application is not made for tv but for phones and tablets, but I'm just trying to find a temporary solution for cloud gaming through any good working tv box. Perhaps on something like this new chromecast with google tv, nvidia shield or any modern t95 boxes works flawlessly.

What determines the bitrate for casting to an Android TV?

Hello all, I currently own a Chromecast gen 2, and I’m looking to replace it with an Android TV box. As some of you may know, this Chromecast actually has a limited bandwidth, for example streaming sports off DAZN gives a very choppy picture even if the stream is 60fps. So, how can I tell whether a given Android TV box utilized in casting mode is going to suffer from this issue or not? Thank you!

Which version of Discovery+ do other people have on Android TV (UK)

Hello. I have contacted Discovery about 4 times on this now over the past few months as my Discovery+ app on Android TV in the UK does not play HD video, yet if I cast to the same device (I am using a CCwGTV), it does play in HD. It also plays in HD on my Samsung TV (Tizen).

I have tried on 3 separate CCwGTVs, and all have the same issue.

What I have noticed, though, is, whilst my Discovery+ phone app gets updated all the time, my Android TV version is on 2.1.0, and was last updated on January 21st. Disco+ help only get me so far, and by the time they actually understand the issue, they stop responding.

My question is for UK people (as if I believe the app is different in different countries). What version of Discovery+ do you have installed on Android TV?

Thank you.
