HBO Max and Disney+ keep turning the Mi Box WIFI off after a few minutes. Netflix, Prime Video work OK.

I don't know if it's a coincidence, but this only started happening when I changed residence recently and started using fiber internet.

This only happens with HBO Max and Disney+, Netflix and Prime Video work fine. I'll be watching a serie or movie for a few minutes and suddenly "HBO Max and encountered a problem". I'll go to the Mibox home screen and the wifi is turned off. I turn it on and after a few minutes it happens again.

I called my ISP and they changed the modem channel and bandwith, but it didn't help at at all and it doesn't happen on my smartphone so I guess the problem is in the mibox itself?

I don't even know what to google to solve this, I have no idea what could be.

Bluetooth headset audio distortion on Hisense android TV?

I've tried pairing my bluetooth headset to the Q8G/H8G Hisense Android TV and I get a kind of lag when I hear the audio. It is kinda laggy in the sense that there is some interference or something? It's really annoying as I'm trying to use them with the TV. Any advice?

Think Google will ever fix Chromecast with Google TV?

Spent 30mins on live chat last night only for them to say to factory reset the device.

I am, of course, talking about storage on my Chromecast with Google TV. I have four apps installed and it's showing as our of space. I need to through apps manually clearing data/cache to free up space.

Ridiculous for what is supposed to be a mainstream device.

Have Google acknowledged the issue at all? Is there a workaround? Should I just throw it in the bin?

File Explorers can't see Expanded Internal Storage CCGTV

G'day,

I've just whacked on a USB (128GB, FAT32) onto my Chromecast with Google TV, formatted it as internal storage and moved over all my apps, fine.

However, no matter which File Explorer I use (solid, FX, File Commander) none of those can "see" it. I want to be able to movie particularly video files from one USB (external) to this larger USB.

Any ideas beyond just unplugging it and doing it the old fashioned way?

Bricked Sony XBR49X800D 49-Inch 4K Ultra HD TV (2016 Model)

Ugh. came home to my TV on a restart loop. This went on for some time so I attempted to restart to no avail. I unplugged it, waited a while then plugged it back in. It went back to a restart loop. I then continued my troubleshooting to attempt a factory reset. Now my TV won't turn on. Sony won't help because it's 4 years old. I'm stuck. Any help or suggestions would be spectacular!

Collection of free streaming apps for Android TV

Here is a collection of different legal streaming apps with English language interface for Android TV that I have tried in last few months. Included are only those that offer free on-demand content without trial. I am sharing them here for those that might be interested in new options they might have not been aware of. Saving you from the trouble of researching which they are and how to get the installation files.

APKs have been downloaded either from the Play Store or APK Mirror and are mostly up-to-date as of writing this post. All of them should be Android TV versions and not smartphone ones. Please note most of such apps are ad-supported and geo-blocked. While blocking the ads will render them non-functional in most cases, geo-blocking is bypassed with a use of VPN software which doesn't come free.

Having something like this two months ago would have saved me a lot of time. By sharing this I hope to help other save their time instead.

Download all: https://mega.nz/file/q4QwjRgI#Tm33w22mcLjj9YJiwLrjgSMWzmSBBYhcVPhKLpB-6oM

List of apps included:

Recommended tools (not included):

  • MiXplorer for browsing the files. - free or paid
  • FLauncher for launching apps that are not on Play Store. - free or paid
  • Split APKs Installer (SAI) for installing split APK files (APKS). - free or paid
  • VPN software of your choice (e.g. Surfshark) for launching geo-blocked apps. - paid only

Honorable mentions:

Remember to clean the cache (or data) for apps which you have tried to run from a geo-blocked location as otherwise they will likely not work once you turn on the VPN for the location required.

Share your thoughts! Let others know which ones you find useless and which ones are a must-have.

Cannot log into Google services on Android TV

Hi,

I've recently bought a TCL 43C725 TV. The TV itself is working fine, however Google on it has a serious problem for me.

I can use Youtube, Prime Video and Netflix no problem, regardless of being logged in or not. I can also use Google Assistant, BUT ONLY WHEN NOT LOGGED IN. Finally, I cannot use anything else basically, because Google Play Store doesn't work. It just refuses to work when I log in, and of course it needs a login. I cannot download Spotify, Movies from Google Play Movies or anything else for that matter.

Does anyone have anything that could help me? I've already restarted and changed google accounts, nothing helped. Not even a factory reset. Removing updates from Google Play Store app and restarting also did not help.

Best regardsE

Edit: u/DjangoScrabble and u/Domchekas have a solution to the problem. For me US didn't work, but UK did.

Ongoing issues with the GoogleTV TCL 6 series R646

So myself along with others had a lot of issues with the tv right when it came out. Not being able to get into apps, settings issues, aspect ratio, etc.

I know I myself was criticized by not knowing the difference between Android OS and Google UI (though to be fair, if I’m having an issue with one, and they’re bundled as the same thing, it doesn’t matter “who” I’m having the issue with, the fact is I’m still having the issue).

Well, 3 weeks later I am still having issues with the GoogleTV TCL 2021 6 series 55” tv. I miss the Roku but I was excited for the new enhancements of this version. I mean, I didn’t know I’d miss the Roku at the time; but I do now.

The aspect ratio game with this tv/software/interface is just… it just doesn’t work. I can launch Ted Lasso on AppleTV+ app and notice they look slightly stretched, and then I’ll navigate into the settings to see the “aspect ratio” set at 16:9 as a default? First of all, why would any manufacturer or OS make that a forced default? So I turned on “auto detect” and it actually corrected it for a second. Giving the picture tiny bars horizontally and everything looked fine - for a minute until it just switched back to the 16:9 look.

For Amazon Prime I was watching both Fleabag and 30 Rock to look into the issue. They both looked terrible. Fleabag suffered even worse than Ted Lasso, because it has an aspect ratio of 2.35:1. And it would NOT change it, I just kept looking at her long face looking even longer. As for 30 rock, season 2 episode 1 opens with a Seinfeld montage where he does the deal or no deal cases and it has a text box at the bottom, and it cut off half the sentence. I tried the auto detect and in neither scenario did it fix it.

This is not to mention some of the terrible color and contrast issues I’ve had on certain apps, once again most notably Prime. I tried to watch Late Night, a Prime original, and it looked like I had the brightness set to 20 and contrast 0. I did not.

Also lastly to confirm it’s multiple apps - if you try to watch a vertical video in YouTube (don’t ask; but it’s common for K-Pop groups and usually can exceed 1080 anyways) it retains the correct verticals borders but stretches the image - so you’re only seeing half the image, but in the same borders. Honestly the whole thing makes no sense and I’ve never had a tv experience this messy. And I’ve loved my TCL Roku TVs.

What is happening?

Brand new stick, but no remote. Can't get passed "pairing remote" screen.

Friend gave me his Onn. Stick. It's factory reset, but he couldn't find the remote, so I can't get past the setup. Is there an app that will let me pair my phone as the remote. I tried Google TV app and the old remote control app, but neither show the device because it's never been on my Wi-Fi. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

For those who has the Google Play Movies & TV instead of the Google TV app, you can access the new remote as a quick setting tile.

Philips tv won’t let me accept the Freeview Play terms and conditions. iPlayer just crashes whenever I open it. Any ideas please?

I have had an ongoing issue with BBC iplayer on my 55PUS8204/12.

Whenever I click on the BBC iplayer app, it opens up the Freeview Play Accept Terms page. It says I need to accept the manufacturer’s terms before using the services and gives me the option to either “cancel” or “terms and conditions”. If I click “terms and conditions”, the app just closes and I’m back to the main apps page.

My Freeview channels are all working fine on the antenna. The wifi is connected to the TV with no issues on any other non-Freeview play apps.

Any idea how I fix this please?

Thanks!

EDIT:
I’ve fixed it! I just had to reinstall the tv. When you do that, it asks you to accept the Freeview terms at the start. All the apps are working now and the voice search function and the keyboard on the back of the remote works again.

I clicked the menu button on the remote then clicked frequent settings, all settings, general settings, reinstall tv

How can I map color buttons on my remote?

I just bought a TCL Android TV (link here. I've downloaded an emulator app, but some of the options (like the search function) require the use of that color buttons (red, green, yellow, blue) you get on some remotes. This remote doesn't have those.

Can anyone help with this? Can I remap the existing buttons on the remote somehow? Or is there a remote app that I can use one my phone to control the TV?

As the title says, I'm currently looking into 'android tv' because internet says they're the most versatile and the best.
Here's the thing, I have no idea how these tv works as I solely watch stuff on my computer.
So...
Can a android tv stream off from browsers while having adblock in it? like watching content from sites with obnoxious pop up ads whenever you play/pause and they create a new tab just so you have to close it?

tldr: Basically, if possible. I want to know the steps to have a PC chrome with adblock experience. and like the relevant info to set that up. Thanks.
