Think Google will ever fix Chromecast with Google TV?

by asng

Spent 30mins on live chat last night only for them to say to factory reset the device.

I am, of course, talking about storage on my Chromecast with Google TV. I have four apps installed and it's showing as our of space. I need to through apps manually clearing data/cache to free up space.

Ridiculous for what is supposed to be a mainstream device.

Have Google acknowledged the issue at all? Is there a workaround? Should I just throw it in the bin?

Out of interest, what four apps do you have installed? I have more than double that with space left over.

The limited storage was a pretty big oversight by Google, they should have just given the device a micro SD slot or stuck 16GB of memory in there.

I think it'll be a long time before they something about that, one of the major downsides to this device is it's storage capacity but since i liked compared to other streaming devices i had to get a usbc hub as a work around to increase that tiny of space they give.

The lack of sufficient (cheap) memory on the device is a major drawback.

I had a USB drive hooked up to mine, ended up not using it. Then I started having the low storage problem. I finally went into the settings and found that I had to delete that drive from the storage settings, I assume it was still looking for that drive instead of using internal storage.

I recently reset my device (I have three of these with the same apps across each) because I was consistently out of storage on one of them while having 1.5gb free on the others.

Reinstalled the same 7 apps and ran all updates, it now has 1.6gb free.

Who knows.
