Maybe getting an android tv for mom to watch her chinese dramas.

by JefftheLurker

As the title says, I'm currently looking into 'android tv' because internet says they're the most versatile and the best.
Here's the thing, I have no idea how these tv works as I solely watch stuff on my computer.
So...
Can a android tv stream off from browsers while having adblock in it? like watching content from sites with obnoxious pop up ads whenever you play/pause and they create a new tab just so you have to close it?

tldr: Basically, if possible. I want to know the steps to have a PC chrome with adblock experience. and like the relevant info to set that up. Thanks.

I would personally try kodi with Dramacool addon. It literally specializes in asian dramas. Much more convenient for a tv

Chromecast works best when playing from either a phone, or using the built in interface on Android TV like devices. This is because in this format, the chromcast plays the video stream directly from the source.

When streaming from a web browser, the video is captured from the computer itself and the experience is not very crisp or stable - streaming from a computer is really only good for displaying static web pages or the computer's desktop, and not actually watching videos.

You can configure AdGuard DNS from your router and get adblock on all your devices.
