Playing .mkv 4k movies through old USB stick on Sony X85J

I've got my Android TV for two days and I'm pretty happy with it. My only issue is that I've tried to play three different movies through my old 30gb USB stick and, while one of them worked just fine, the other two where unwatchable. The screen was covered with green big pixels like a huge chess board. It didn't matter the app I used (VLC, Kodi, Media Player, you name it). Any ideas of what is going on?

I’m in the market for a new Android box, anyway I do use it for Kodi and IPTV. My old one can’t handle IPTV or Kodi anymore, I choose those 3, any recommendations or if you got different box let me know please. FYI I live in Australia. Cheers.

Do Android TV remotes work with other android TVs?

Basically I quite dislike the remote that came with my Hisense android tv. I see a bunch of other Android TV manufacturers, like Sony, tcl, Philips, etc, with better remotes and was wondering if they would work with my hisense? Would they work at all if I pair them via bluetooth?

Thanks,

Is there a simple videoplayer app that can browse and play content from a webserver?

I'm looking for a somewhat simple app that can browse and play video content from a webserver HTTP(S) source. You know, that webserver set up where when you hit the site you just get a list of files in the site's root folder.

You can do it in KODI easily enough as the file manager there can accept sources of the form https://vids.example.com but just wondered if there's something similar that's much more basic like VLC, MXplayer are etc.

Streaming app sounds bizzare on new TV

Just got a new Hisense 65" TV with built in android. For some reason the Crave app sounds bizzare, very tinny and echo-y. None of my other streaming apps (Netflix, Disney, Prime) sound like this. Anyone else have this issue?

Any experience with Hisense warranty?

I have a 55" Hisense Android TV that won't turn on. They've been responsive and have scheduled a service call for Friday, so good so far.

I don't think they sell the model anymore, so if it need replaced, I'm curious of what they will do.

Cast a movie on my android TV from my smartphone (android)

Hello everyone ! I'm struggling with this today so I'm asking you for help (I already looked on the subreddit but didn't find anything)

I got movies on my smartphone, mkv type, and I just wanna cast them on my mi box s. VLC is offering something for this, and it's working great but not for the subtitles. So I tried multiple applications Nova video player, web video cast, etc. But for one application, the sound is not working (but the subtitles work), and for another one it's the reverse, sometimes both won't work. I'm sure it could work with both because every app make at least one thing, but I'm looking for an app who could do everything 😅

Thanks a lot for any help, I'm french btw sorry for any English mistakes.

My TV speaks while turned off

So I tried googling this issue but get nothing but Voice Assistaint and Voice Control topics.I have an Android TV, Haier BX to be exact, and sometimes it randomly says a phrase while turned off. Usually it's "Something went wrong, please try again in a few seconds". Thing is the TV is turned off at that moment, no one is in the room with it, it doesn't support voice commands (at least out of the box) so I've literally no Idea what might be causing it.Or more importantly - how to turn it off. Because sometimes it happens in the middle of the night and appartently without any regards to what sound volume was set up while it was on. I have a newborn so it would be very annoying if the baby happened to wake up from it.

Anyone know what might be causing this issue? Thanks in advance.

Edit: Apparently the TV still has an option for google assistaint in it's settings even though the stock remote doesn't support it. There haven't been any phrases since I turned that off, although it's only been a couple of days.

Philips Smart TV Limiting Speeds

I’ve connected my Philips Smart TV to both wifi and Ethernet, only to receive the same max speed of 17mbps.  Connecting a computer to the same Ethernet, I’m getting over 100mbps.  Why would a tv limit my speed like that and is there any way to remove the limitation?

Rolled Back To Prior Android Remote Services

After failing to find a viable third party remote service for Google TV I finally disabled auto update and rolled back the remote app on the Google TV device.

I realize now that the old system probably disconnected just as much, but connects much much faster. Also, it can maintain a BT connection, or if wifi is to slow to connect then start a BT connection (with the hassle of entering a passcode).

Anyway, hopefully Google updates the new system to be useable. Makes me wonder who their beta testers were.
