Do Android TV remotes work with other android TVs?

by ja55ie

Basically I quite dislike the remote that came with my Hisense android tv. I see a bunch of other Android TV manufacturers, like Sony, tcl, Philips, etc, with better remotes and was wondering if they would work with my hisense? Would they work at all if I pair them via bluetooth?

Thanks,

I would get one of those USB wireless mini keyboard remotes. They’re cheap, backlit, rechargeable and always work. They’ll work with any device that has a USB port.

I use a 2019S Shield remote with my Phillips Android TV remote. It's far better than the IR remote that came with it. I would expect to be able to do the same with any Android TV based device

Get a Mele F10, it brings an USB receiver and it's a superb airmouse with keyboard. It works as soon as you plug the receiver in.

The problem you may have is the new remote services app on your Android TV device may not work with the remotes, sort of how the old Android Remote App no longer works.

You might have to turn off auto update and roll back the remote services app. If you do that you could also try the Android Remote App if you have an Android phone. I let my wife use the physical remote and instead use the old Android app. (The new android remote is part of a different program and doesn't work well.) Doing that would be free to try.
