I have this device I scavenged a while ago from my workplace. It works, but it's quite outdated with Android 6.0.1. It's a provider branded, but hardware is actually Technicolor Skipper dwi265. Does anybody know where I could get more-stable/up-to-date firmware?

I have a TCL R646 Google TV OS - which has frustrated me to no end but some of the kinks have begun to resolve themselves.

One of my main issues currently is that VUDU will not play any of my content. I hit “play trailer” and it’ll play. I play a “free with ads” video, and it’ll play that. It just won’t play any of my digital library.

Is anyone else having this issue? Have they resolved it? I’m up to date on the Google TV OS, and have deleted and reinstalled/re-logged in to VUDU and still having the exact same issue on the tv.

My account/content works fine on my laptop, and I never had this issue on my TCL Roku. This is frustrating because I have hundreds of content that I own on my VUDU but am incapable of playing it.

(This on a long list of aspect ratio issues on AppleTV, Prime, and even some YouTube videos, other apps not working for a couple of weeks like HBO Max and even free IMDb tv, CEC/eARC issues and communication between devices, and more)

I have a Spectre android TV and I’ve had it for about a year but the remote broke after about a month so I started using the android TV app were you put in a code on your phone that shows up on the tv and you get a remote screen and all of a sudden a few days ago it stopped working and it says make sure both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi even though The TV and my phone are connected to the same Wi-Fi

So you know how on regular keyboards if you hold the backspace it'll delete everything. Well for some reason it only does one word at a time. Am I the only one with this bug?

I’m looking for an Android TV box that’s slightly more affordable than the Nvidia Shield that’s also capable of unlocking official native Netflix 4K (DRM), but also highly customizable with respect to side-loading the greatest variety of third-party applications.

I’m especially interested in native NordVPN support so I was looking into the Amazon Fire Cube, but it seems like that the FireOS doesn’t always play well with Google Play Store APKs. I’ve experienced this problem on my Kindle Fire, and would like to avoid it on my smart TV box.

According to most review sites, most of the other manufacturers that focus on compatibility and customizability aren’t capable of unlocking native Netflix due to licensing or political decisions. Any exceptions to this or particularly easy to jailbreak Android TVs?

I am unable to play videos recorded (in 4K) from my samsung phone on my TV using USB port. I have to compress it first then I am able to see it. Any solutions?

So arround September end there was news of GoogleTV coming out in another 14 countries, India was one of them. I recently went on Play Store and saw the GoogleTV app, I am in India. It was GoogleTV on the cover but when I opened it, it was still play movies. Am I missing something? Did anyone get the launcher on TV to work with the suggestion homepage? And anyone else from the prior said 14 countries, is it usable for you?

So a year ago I bought a Mi TV Stick since i figured cables ain't gonna cut it for me anymore, after paying them at least 150++ dollars a month for nearly decade. It was cheaper than the Mi Box S and the feature I'm really missing out is 4K and HDR streaming, but since I only own a 1080p TV, it didn't really bother me much.

When I first got it, I was delighted at just how good this tiny streaming box is. It was a tad slow at opening apps and surfing through content, but for the most part, it was great for what I'm using it for.

However, a year in and the issues started showing up. At first it was randomly rebooting for no reason, although it only happened once in a while. But months later, it started getting worse. Everytime I'm trying to open YouTube, it'd just power off on it's own and reboots seconds later. It's frustrating because that's what I mostly use on my TV.

I read online that some batches have problem regarding the inadequate cooling on the SoC, and some people even suggested to drill the case and stick some heat sinks on it, but obviously I'm not gonna go with that route.

At this point, I'm almost to giving up on trying to fix it and just get a new streaming box, perhaps the fairly old Mi Box S.

As a sidenote, yes, I have it hooked up to the original adapter included in the box.

I recently bought a smart TV running on Android and whenever I connect my laptop to my TV, and change the source, it starts flickering madly for a while, changing between my desktop and just pure black.

After a while (anywhere from 3 to 10 minutes) it just works properly, but today it started flickering again after working normally when I changed the volume.

The HDMI cable is brand new, and I tried all 3 HDMI ports on the TV.

Changing any display settings through Windows doesn't change the flickering at all.

Besides that, when watching a YouTube video it will sometimes slow down and speed up again to correct, even at 1080p (my TV is 4K). It is connected via ethernet and should be able to reach speeds of up to 12MB per second (100 Mbps).

Finally I couldn't get Windscribe (a VPN service) to work. When I turned it on my internet wouldn't work at all, and even turning it off wouldn't fix it. I had to unplug the ethernet cable and plug it back in, for it to work again.

I can't seem to find a way to run a software update or anything either idk if that might be causing any issues.

I recently bought a Sony Smart TV that comes with Google TV. Before this I was using an older TV with a Google Chromecast TV dongle that had the remote. I was able to set it up to control my Vizio soundbar which worked great. The Sony remote does not have this option. I tried to pair the Chromecast remote to the sony which worked, but then it didn't have the options to set up controlling the soundbar and the previous setup does not seem to work if the dongle is off.

I tried continuing to use the Chromecast, but the sony randomly switches back to the wrong input. Is there an alternative remote I can pair with Android TV that I could set up to control my soundbar?

Anyone else have a solution to this? Whenever I open or watch anything on Prime Video, then come out of the app with the home button on my remote, after about 20 seconds it reopens itself automatically. It happens even after I open another app like Netflix or Youtube, and even if I change the source to one of the HDMI's. It doesn't happen with any other app, only Prime Video.

The only way I've been able to get this to stop is if I hold down the power button on the remote and select 'restart' on my TV. It's fine, and I can live with it, but it's kind of annoying as it takes my TV a few minutes for a restart, so hope someone here has a solution.

I just installed the newest Chromecast with google TV. Is there a way to have my Doorbell image show up on the TV when the bell rung? I can stream to the TV so I know there is a connection.

It seems over the past few days. People who have been using dealaxer's method ( see XDA) Of modding the Netflix APK to use the service on uncertified devices no longer can run the app. Now as soon as you launch the app you are faced with an error: n-6-404.

I am wondering if Netflix has stopped working for any other devices out there aside from one's using this mod

I have my Chromecast with GoogleTV plugged into a monitor with speakers, so CEC isn't an option. I had assumed that the volume buttons on the remote would just control the AndroidTV system volume, but they don't do anything.

In fact, I can't figure out a way to adjust the volume at all. I've even tried Button Mapper, but the commands it has for volume +/- don't do anything, and it doesn't recognize the remote's volume buttons when I try to add a custom button.

Is there any way to control the OS volume if it's plugged into something that doesn't use a remote for volume control? If not this device, is there a different AndroidTV device that would work?

I mostly want to use this to cast to, but adjusting the volume control on my phone while casting doesn't do anything either.

I’ve just set up my new chromecast with googletv and in the process, I was asked to format the connected flash drive (via a USB-C hub). I’ve done this before so I pressed format with the intention of later connecting it to my computer to transfer roms, apk’s etc. Problem is my mac won’t recognise the drive 🤦🏻‍♂️. The strange thing is, prior to formatting it, it was connected to my Mac as I was backing up files from my old google tv.

How do I get my Mac to recognise the USB drive so that I can transfer files to it? I don’t have access to a PC right now.

I bought the shield but returned it because I couldn't find an easy guide for a launcher. I then came across Nokia 8000 and that seems promising. Looking around for Nokia I found other launchers for Nvidia, so now I'm looking for advice from anyone who has tried Nokia or both. I have always had an Android box and I like to have a minimal desktop.

I have a Sony Bravia 4K Android TV with software version 8.0.0 running on it. After the latest update, the sound and video have become very laggy and patchy. It's pretty annoying. I tried clearing the cache. I even did a factory reset and the problem still exists.

It feels like Sony or Google have intentionally done this to force people to buy new products.

Anyone know what's causing this and how I can fix it? Can't I revert back the software?

Pretty much as in the title. Sometimes it wakes me up, otherwise it's just mildly irritating. What can I do about it?

Any way to get the old Android TV remote app working? The new one in the Google TV app is so buggy and I can only get 1 of my devices to show up (Walmart Onn UHD). It's annoying me because I never had this issue before with the old remote.

Update: Had to go in the play store and update "Android TV Remote Service". I will leave this up just in case anyone else has the same issue.
