Best 4K support TV (direct play 4k plex)

Bought me a Samsung TV but found out it doens't direct play most of the Plex 4K content I get. I plan on returning this TV and want to get one that 'plays it (almost) all'. It is very hard to find info on the subject though, but I think I'll need to go Android on this one. Android also has an app in the store which I'd really like to have, so there's that as well.

Can you advice me on which TV I should get? I live in Europe so may not be able to get my hands on models that are sold in the US. Is this even something I should be chasing? Or would I be better off getting a Shield for *sigh* another 200 eypo.

CCw/GTV VS Tvision Hub - help me make sense of this (free space)

CC has an external usb drive, Tvision hub does not.

This comparison is for the INTERNAL space only.

CC = 9 apps installed on internal - 3.3gb used

Tvision = 15 apps installed on internal - 2.8gb used

---

CC Free space = 199mcb (this varies of course, I've seen it down to 0, then I free up space)

Tvision Free space = 1.9gb

---

Why the difference in free space? almost a gig difference, is it really programming? Tmobile developers are more efficient than Google's? Yes, bloatware, other stuff that needs to be installed because they are Google.

I have almost 2gb left on my Tvision to install apps. The CC(like you all know that own CCs) ran out of space so I had to get a hub and use a usb drive.

Any insight? This tells me that the CC doesn't need to be this bloated in order to run.

How to disable ChromeCast from my Hisense Android TV?

I'm unable to find an option to disable it. I found " LET OTHERS CONTROL YOUR CAST MEDIA " option and set it to "never". But every device in the same network gets a notification of whatever I'm casting on youtube, or even when I'm using my ps4 for some reason.

Unable to view local TV station apps - any suggestions?

I recently bought a TCL TV running Android. I’m in Melbourne and have the TV directly plugged in with Ethernet, but it tells me ABC iView and other Australian TV apps can’t be installed because I’m in the wrong country.

Stan works fine, and Netflix shows I’m in Australia, I don’t have a VPN on.

I’ve tried a factory reset, checked to ensure I picked Australia in the setup, everything seems to be fine except these local apps. Weirdly it lets me download the New Zealand TV apps.

Any suggestions? Google searches have suggested it’s the IP, I will look up how to set a static IP but wanted to see if there were any ideas before I did.

Ethernet directly to Android TV or Chromecast Ultra

I just bought an ultra short throw projector running AndroidTV and used to have a Chromecast Ultra that I was using with ethernet. Do you think it's more efficient to just plug the ethernet directly into the projector with AndroidTV or keep using the chromecast ultra? I don't know if the chromecast ultra might have higher throughput or something.

Prime video - disable up next

Edit: FIXED, go to Amazon.com and select video then settings, player, and there should be two autoplay settings there. Then make sure to restart the prime video app. For some reason for the amazon.CA domain it's not avaible, instead you have to use primevideo.com.

Does anyone know how to stop the app from automatically playing whatever is "up next." For reference I'm using a Chromecast with Google TV. I cannot find an option and Google comes up surprisingly empty. I can do it with the app on my phone but on the CwGTV the option is not there.

Every night my Dad falls asleep watching tv and if it's on prime then it eats up our bandwidth and I have to figure out what show he was at because boomer.

What's a good remote with voice commands that can control my TV?

I bought a Realme TV stick to replace a Fire TV stick that fried itself. Btw I think FireOS sucks, so I was more like 'good riddance'.

However what I do miss is the controller. I liked having a sine remote control both devices, but the real me controller is dumb. It has an internal volume control but it just never keeps sound at a good level, so I need my tv remote around.

The Fire TV stick remote doesn't pair elsewhere, so I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks.

Edit: forgot to say I returned the fire stick and got a refund,so I no longer own the remote. I was thinking of buying one if that's the only thing that will work, but sure o want something cheaper (remote costs $33 here, FS+remote are $40. Either way a waste of money if you ask me)

Volume control in apartment building

I have a Hisense 40in tv with android tv on it and for some reason the volume is constantly spiking to max along with random power ons or home presses when I have not interacted with the remote. I assume this is the result of shared apartment wifi, and someone accidentally connecting to my device. I’ve already named the tv “not your fucking tv :)” but am looking for a more concrete solution to prevent random control without just disconnecting from the internet. Thank you!

Installing Android TV to a PC

Ok to make a long story short I have some extra PCs laying around. I would like to turn one into an android TV box. I found the instructions to do so (https://youtu.be/8kZk1Zh6WAo) but I'm just curious if the 5.1 audio will work on the motherboard that I want to use M4A88TD-V EVO?

If anyone has any thoughts on this I would greatly appreciate it.

PSA for Onn 4K users: How to fix the low default volume after setting it up for the first time!

I'm sure most people know about this since many of you are Android TV diehards but I thought I would make a post about it.

The issue: The Onn 4K box has an internal Android UI volume that is set at 50% when you first set it up, causing people to wonder why their TV sounds half as loud as it should be when playing content from the Onn 4K box.

The solution:

  • Go to Settings > Set up remote buttons.

  • Go to Volume Control (under Remote buttons) and make sure it is set to auto instead of controlling your TV or other device.

  • Press the volume rocker on the remote control and raise the volume to 100% as shown on the onscreen volume display appearing on your screen as you raise the volume. Your Onn 4K box has an internal volume control and it was 50% by default and now you have 100% volume. Your Onn 4K box should now sound as loud as your other devices!

  • Make sure to set Volume Control back from Auto to your TV or other device so your volume rocker controls that device again.

This puzzled me for half an hour until I figured it out when I got this box last month so I thought I would help others with this post.

Hardwiring Nvidia Shield TV to PC?

Hello,

I'm wondering if there's a way to hardwire an Nvidia Shield TV directly to a Windows PC in order to access the files on the PC faster than a network connection would allow.

My media is currently hosted on my Windows 10 PC, which is shared over the network via an sFTP Docker container, which of course is running on Windows Subsystem Linux.

It's very reliable, the only problem is that because I'm going through WSL, the transfer rates are slow in comparison to something like SMB. This wasn't an issue until a week ago when I got my first 4K TV. The increased bitrate of 4K is causing buffering issues.

I really enjoy the flexibility/ease of a Docker-Compose file for my NAS needs, so rather than set up an entire server just to stream smoothly to my Shield, I would prefer to hardwire the Shield to the PC since they are only two feet apart.

Anyone know if this can be done or have experience with something similar?
