An obvious and welcome move, considering how laughably inept the initial iteration was, having gimped storage so bad you couldn't even update the device if you had a few apps and a sluggish processor that would jerk and stutter through menus.
I also hope they redesign the remote as well. It wasn't terrible, but the buttons would quickly discolor with use and the battery door latch would wear out quickly if you are the fidgety type.
I'm expecting a not-insignificant price increase.
USB port for extra storage so we don’t have to find a holy grail of a usb c hub that would work
What the fuck? The old one just came out and it hasn’t even gotten a proper Android upgrade yet. Google is so disappointing…
I would like to see 3 to 4 gb of ram and 16 of storage with 8GB usable for $80 both come with any USB port
Now if you want to charge 100 to 120 32gb of storage with 24 usable
I really like Google TV, except that the current dongle is not powerful enough and animations are often choppy. So I hope the new one has a lot more storage, like at least 64GB, and a better processor (hopefully the Tensor Chip), and I would love a remote with a fingerprint reader to easily access personalized content.
Needs better 4K 7.1 hardware decoding
definitely getting av1 support
Maybe a black colour this time
Damn it. I literally just replaced mine because I didn't expect an upgrade anytime soon. Hopefully it's a "pro" version that has more storage and a better CPU , because those are the reasons I just switched my main TV from the current CC to a Fire TV Cube.
Oh fun. Guess what I just bought this week.
DTS decoding would be nice
I hope they'll eventually give a bigger size option and drop the chromecast dongle look. They can keep the old look as a slim version, but I would really appreciate a bigger one, maybe with some ports. Although, it would come close to nvidia shield territory and not sure how it would compare there.
I could see something in the $75-100 mark being successful for Google. Right now that price point is a gaping hole for Android compared to Roku (Ultra) and Amazon (Fire Cube).
I think if Nvidia had priced the Tube closer to $100 it would have been a big hit for them. There is a market of folks who want something beefier than the low-spec stick devices, but don’t need the horsepower found in an Apple TV or Nvidia Shield.
Google really needs to do a better job of optimizing Google TV though for lower end hardware. Compared to a friends Fire TV Max, the Chromecast chugs along at almost everything it does.
AV1 + 16gb 😉
Hopefully better than the CCwGT, thing is fucking buggy as shit.
Just today I had to restart it because if video artifacting like my tv was dying and the remote wasn't working properly.
It constantly drops wifi for no reason (and doesn't automatically reconnect).
Previously had HDR bugs that would result in things like the entire video being green..
First one still not for sale in Norway. So you will have to excuse me for containing my enthusiasm.
I never had one but love Google TV UI I installed it over the ugly android TV Nvidia Shield updated to
Yet another one
Get a shield... Honestly tired of these low end devices. Make a good device
Can you cast by it from iPhone?
Mini toslink out would be great! Even if it's only stereo.
Must be in 50 dollars range. Otherwise I cant buy an expensive android tv device
