Hey, is it possible to do? Like create album on google photo, only have there 1 video loop and screensaver would access only this 1 album? I own Sony A80J 65".

I just updated my HiSense TV's AndroidTV firmware and noticed afterwards that my SmartTube app had been deleted. I guess it makes sense because Google owns YouTube and Android and they want you to watch their YouTube ads or pay to make them go away. I'll be using my Fire Stick exclusively from now on.

I have a curious selective problem with casting on my (Miracast and Chromecast built-in) Android TV:

My both laptops (wiith Windows 10 and 11 respectively) and my Android phone are unable to recognize my Android TV as available for casting. Windows+K menu shows no available devices, stock casting option in my phone just searches forever.

On the other hand, Youtube and Netflix casting both from laptops and smartphone work seamlessly... AFAIK Youtube uses Chromecast, but again, chromecasting an entire webpage again doesn't work - TV simply isn't listed among the options.

I think it has something to do with how the computers and phone "see" the TV - on the computer, in the Windows Devices menu, I can add the TV as a device, but only through Bluetooth, not when I choose Remote screens and docks.

What I've tried so far:

• ensured that all are connected to the same wi-fi (which is obviously not the problem as Youtube and Netflix casting works)
• cleared caches and data for Miracast and Chromecast apps in the TV, even reset the TV to factory settings
• tried other software - third party casting phone apps work, both for casting photos and whole screen

My hardware:

55" TCL 55P715 TV; Lenovo Ideapad 5 running Windows 11; ASUS ROG laptop running Windows 10; Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 smartphone

If anyone has suggestions as to what might cause the problem, or at least what else I could test, it would be much appreciated.

New update today for PS5 and I noticed it switched to game mode which makes my screen all pixelated so I like graphics mode which is much nicer quality

Does anyone know whats going on? I can't find much info, I went to setting and switched from enhanced mode to enhanced dolby mode which enabled it again but I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out in case I chose a wrong setting (Since I know Dolby vision isn't supported on PS5)

Also, I noticed VRR is an option for my TV now I know PS5 will be updating again in the future for VRR but my TV says I can only play on game mode if I have VRR enabled

That makes me sad, anyone know anything about that?

Trying to play from external hardrive on android device to TV. Most browsers have too many options, and most media players have their own player (and they all suck btw). VLC works fine on this android box but struggling to find a simple browser to launch to it. This is something I am setting up for non-tech people. This is offline and isolated. Power in, external drive to android box, HDMI out. No router, no internet, no wifi.

I have tried:

• kodi (too much setup, too many options to get lost clicking shit, local browsing actually looks no diff to a filebrowser except more confusing to reach)
• Archos Video (finally worked after tracking down codecs but the player must be heavy because it chugs like a mofo)
• Plex (server won't run on device therefore cannot use local media, this is not a situation where I can setup a media stremaing service over router)
• File Browser Widget (this android box doesn't widget unfortunately)
• X-plore File manager (zero strip down options, too complicated)
• FX File Browser (Best so far as it actually has the options to strip back things to click on)
• VLC Player (half the browser doesn't have a focus, wtf, massive oversight, but this runs movies the best so launchi8ng into VLC works hence the file browser option)

So far FX Filebrowser was 99% options stripped out is ok, launched into VLC. It's not bad, not quite good either.

Honestly either a lightweight media browser or a file manager with strip down options that will launch to VLC. It's truly amazing that this doesn't seem to exist after some weeks of casual searching.

Think old school DVD player external drive menu, if anyone remembers those. Super simple. Nothing confusing to accidentally click on.

I did try to make one myself but I could not work out how to implement leanback support into what I had built and without focus for the remote TV apps are kinda useless.

Hey guys, I have a couple of talks coming up, and I have access to a 70" TV. Instead of plugging my laptop into the TV, I figured I could sideload my PowerPoint presentation (or a PDF/JPG export) onto my Android TV stick and use the remote to advance through the slides. There won't be reliable wifi access so the slideshow has to be stored locally.

Does anyone know of a good app for this?

Wifi is disconnecting while in sleep, anyone know how to fix it ?

So I started having a decent amount of 4K remuxes which I want to run on my LG TV and I'm wondering if any of the Onn/Tivo Stream4k/CWGTV are able to run it with no problems with Emby?

As long it can direct play the HDR10/DV videos, though I'm not sure if no Atmos+DV will make the system to transcode the whole thing since on my HDR10 devices/TV no Atmos+HDR10 works fine with only the audio being transcoded.

And would the wifi on these devices be capable enough to stream it which is the whole reason I wanted to go the ATV route 😅. Cant get a USB to Ethernet adapter to work natively on the LG TV while it still stutters a bit on wifi so resorting to this. Otherwise which one of these are the most comfortable with an external usb to ethernet adapter.

The devices are bit more expensive than the US prices but they're still cheaper than even the Mi Box 4K. Onn is $40, Tivo is $50 while CWGTV is $70.

Would appreciate any feedback/review regarding this

I'm using the TCL R646 and every day the screen goes black using Hulu. The only fix I've found is unplugging and pluggi g back in and it works fine the rest of the night (which makes me assume it's a software issue)

I bought a Xiaomi Mi TV stick brand new today but it’s not turning on for some reason. I’ve been watching YouTube videos on the stick and it seems that as soon as people plug it in, it lights up and connects to the TV. However, mine doesn’t even light up. And I don’t know if I am doing something wrong

How do I get miracast/wifi display to work on the chromecast with Google TV? The chromecast protocol has some limitations, for example, it can't extend a display.

When I try to sign into my Google account it doesn't work. It runs Android 5.1.1 and I want to update Google services, but I don't know how. Any solutions? (I can't continue the login from another device)

I have a 4k redmi tv 50 inch , in Netflix all the Dolby vision titles are playing with no problem whereas the 4k HDR and HD titles are playing at very low quality like 360p , does anyone else had this problem help me out , it's a new tv I just finished the installation (my Netflix is updated in playstore and my internet connection is 74mbps)

It is only showing a remote sign and seems to be suggesting some button combination which will not work. No reset button

Hey Everyone. I recently bought a Sony X85J and was excited to download the “Pik TV” app. It is 100% a canadian app, yet I cant dl it because it says “this item is not available in your country”. I went through my settings and everything looks like it is set to Canada. Any suggestions? Thanks

AndroidTV needs a sports section like AppleTV does to make finding games on streaming services easier

My requirements are very low, all I want to do is play movies from Kodi in 1080p, preferably with H265 support. I don't even need good thermals, I already had an old X96 TV box but I accidentally broke it in while replacing the heatsinks on it, so I have very good heatsinks I can immediately mod into any new box.

On my Roku TV you can easily upload photos to use as your Screensaver or to just view, through the app. But I can't find a way to do this on my Google tv. The Google photos app can be pulled up using voice commands but it cycles through all of the photos uploaded randomly and you have no control.
