The youtube app suddenly wont load the menu on the left side with all the subscribed channels etc on my Mi Box S, its just completely empty. Tried deleting data/cache, and even uninstalled updates, but it still wont show up again. Anyone else have this issue?

Edit: Fixed the issue by signing in to the YouTube app using my phone instead.

Got a Philips Android TV about an hour ago, and I was on the brink of returning it because it wouldn't let me sign in or update the thing, but low and behold when I WiFi tethered from my phone, the internet suddenly worked and I was able to set it up.

Now, looking at a long term solution, I'm wondering what could possibly make it behave this way- I use a Google WiFi Mesh network that port forwards 22 for SSH, and 3000-something for RDP, but that's the only thing I've done to mess with it. I was running a PiHole for adblock, but I unplugged it trying to diagnose this issue and that's not it. Has anyone dealt with this? I've reset both the TV, and my WiFi multiple times now.

Does anyone else have an issue with stuttering/screen freezing on their Hisense? When watching streaming apps the screen will freeze for about a second every two minutes or so.

Trying to see if this is an issue to my specific unit or to the series as a whole.

Looking to have a collection of 5 min videos play in a loop from an Youtube playlist. This would be a dedicated device that only does this. It would be like a TV .. but in my waiting room.

Any ideas of what technology + apps that would accomplish this ? I'll use whatever hardware i need (android, PC, etc).

if not available how about a USB device that just plugs into a monitor and plays the videos in sequence ? in a loop.

I have a 4k hdr TV, I want to play some 4k mkv video files on the TV. I almost bought a Xiaomi mi tv but see it has no Lan support. Then I almost got a cheap h96 android tv box but reviews say rock chip is trash.

So that leaves chromecast ultra which has Lan support but will it play mkv easily?

i've bought the MiBoxS running latest Firmware (Android 8.1 security Patch May 2019)

Now i'm missing HDR Support and 5.1 sound.
I tried Netflix but no HDR Movie and series are playing in HDR (like Marco Polo) and missing 5.1 Sound.

Does the MiBoxS doesn't support this formats? on the Package is Dolby Digital and DTS Sign with 4kHDR.. PS: got an Android tv(Sony X8505c) and bought the player because of better performance..

I have a Sony X900F. I was looking forward to it having a built-in chromecast essentially. Upgrading from a really old dumb TV, I was pleasantly surprised to see it comes with an IR blaster and knows how to communicate with my digital TV set top box. I just set the provider and my postal code and done.

Now when it is getting TV signal, the Sony remote knows to remap the numbers from changing channel on the TV to changing channel on the set top box instead.

However I can't for the life of me figure out if its possible to use assistant to do this. The only commands I can get it to understand are ones which change the TV channel and not the channel on the set top box.

I looked briefly to see if there is some other automation service which could somehow do so, but it would appear that "knowing of" and "controlling" the set top box sits hidden away in Sony firmware and/or Android TV implementation.

What I'd like is to be able to change channel on the set top box via voice. I'd be happy with just "change to channel 5". I'd be even happier with custom names for the channels like "change to news".

Does anyone know if this is possible?

I would like to cast to smart YouTube like it works on a fire stick.

Basically the MiBox doesn't automatically turn off my Hisense TV when I power off the MiBox, but it does power on the TV when I switch on the MiBox. Is there something I'm missing?

I have tried resetting the MiBox. It doesn't fix the issue.

It appears that the latest update (Sept 3rd) for the JBL Link Bar only introduced more unreliability.

Since the update I've had to reset it completely a couple of times to fix complete failures with the Google Assistant. It appears that after approx. 60 hours the Google Assistant will completely fail to respond to "okay Google" prompts. The Assistant button on the remote still works.

I'm beginning to think that this product is a complete lemon. After a year of delays they still seem to have released a completely unreliable product. It kind of does three separate things reasonably well (when they work at all), Assistant, Chromecast and Android TV, but as a whole it just doesn't work.

Great idea poorly executed. I'm resigning myself to the fact that Google/partners just don't know how to produce a reliable consumer grade product. I may just buy an Apple TV to plug into this thing!

The most shocking thing is that a normal test cycle for this thing would have identified all these flaws. I think they're aware of the issues and just decided to launch anyway. Awful.
