Some videos crashes the device and stucks in the boot phase. I guess it started after Mibox got the latest Android version. It wasn't happening with the OS it came with .

I uninstalled the updates to youtube (you can't uninstall the app) , clear the cache and reinstalled. it didn't change anything.

Is this a known problem, is there a solution for this?

It seems pretty weird to me that there is even a distinction between videos that you send to the tv to play and videos you select on the tv directly (like way less options, different UI)

It somehow seems that the quality is worse as well when casting from the YouTube Android Phone App, or is it just me?

Edit: it has been confirmed that it is lower quality, especially 4k Videos are only played in 1080p

u/yothisisyo suggested a great way to fix this:

Just go to the tv app and in the settings open the "link within code" tab Then type that code into the YouTube phone app and the videos will be played using the superior player (with queue and all that stuff)

So, i looked into the rules of this sub before i posted a question about a generic (Chinese) box and i noticed this wasn't the place for it so i wonder if you guys know where should i go in search for answers?

I've got a couple of generic boxes ( H96 pro+ and a bqeel u1 pro) and a MiBox wich works like a charm and while i have no complaints about the H96 the U1 its really buggy... So there is that...

Google Family Links, is what I use on my mobile.

But the app does not work on TV. It do not install and say the device can not be supervised. Same is the case with Google Digital Wellbeing.

What are my other options?

So i have a xiaomi mi tv box S, right now i plug in a usb flash drive and play movies from it. Works well, but i would like to move to a 2tb usb hard drive. Which i could plug in, but i dont know how to easily share it on the network

Anyone use a NAS? I would love to connect a NAS via lan, and then connect that via usb to the xiaomi tv box , maybe that would be easy?

That is the one thing I'm confused about. I see a new remote but no mention of an updated game controller or any of the bundles having a game controller

My TCL android TV says it supports 4k. When i play HDR content on Netflix , the HDR10 notification pops up. But when I check with any of the resolution check apps on the playstore they only show me 1920*1080. Youtube stats for nerds shows me viewport as 1920*1080*2 . HDR content on prime video never goes beyond 1080p while playing. This is driving me mad.

Since updating my Sony Android TV it does an unusual thing;

I use the USB ports to charge my PS4 gamepads and ever since the last update charging them now causes the sound to be muted on the TV.
Any help on why this is happening?

Hi guys, I've had the Mi Box S for about 2 months now running 8.1 using 2.4 ghz wifi and it's just not up to scratch, my wifi keeps dropping out when i stream and i can barely download any files. Do you guys have any ideas as to what alternatives i should get? Nothing as expensive as the shield but better than the MiBox? Thanks guys.

Pretty much the title. Using the Twitch or YouTube Android TV apps I can enjoy perfectly fine 1080p@60hz without any hiccup. If I cast a video or a stream however using the integrated Chromecast on the Android TV, it's dropping a bunch of frames making it unbearable to watch.

TV updated to latest softwares (both Android and Chromecast) if that matters. Been that way forever, just started recently to look for solutions.

Hi guys, I'm currently using the Mi Box S on 8.1 Oreo, my wifi cuts out every 10 mins or so, i run 9.0 Pie on my phone and have no such issues, so are the wifi drops an 8.1 software issue and if so, is there any fix i can use? Thanks for any info.

I'm especially confused by the SDR to HDR and HDR to SDR settings on the Mi Box. I have not been able to find any answers on Google, either.

I have a simple question. My TV does not support HDR. Given this, what are the optimal settings for the SDR to HDR (ON/OFF) and HDR to SDR (AUTO/ON/OFF) settings?
