Sorry if this is a very cliche post but I just got an Amazon Firestick and wasn't really happy with its App store.

I'm thinking of returning it and look for a TV Stick that is much more flexible instead.

Is there a TV Stick where I access to whole android app store and download Streaming apps and VPN apps etc without Amazon, Apple etc. limitations?

Looking to have access to Putio, Streamio, Roku, VPN, Netflix etc. and can't really decide which to go.

I Also own an Apple TV but can't even get its SmartDNS working for VPNs and it's the most limited platform anyway.

Hello. Just got the mi box s. Upgraded to 9 (doh?) And everything is working pretty good except that some video apps (ie HBO) give me sound and subtitles but no video (only black screen). Anyone know how to fix this issue?

I log in to YouTube on my Xaomi Mi Box S and it's a dark theme now. Was there an update and what else is new?

I just realized I can't find the "Play Next" channel on the Home screen. When I go all the way down and click "Customize Channels" I see the option to Turn on "Play Next" and it is set to ON. I have Android 9 on Xiaomi Mi Box S. Someone please help.

I am using vlc now but its buggy - sometimes it does not download subs. Also it feels abandoned.

hi, a week ago i bought a Xiaomi Mi Box S (MDZ-22-AB) and since the begining i noted connectivity issues. I made the mandatory system update to android 9 and then begin to test it.

i'm an advanced user (my primary job is linux sysadmin/web developer) so i think i've checked all the basic stuff.

in my home i have a TPLINK 941-HP router, one 1st gen Chromecast in the kid's bedroom, and one 2nd gen Chromecast in an old Sony TV in the living room (just next to the router). My internet connectivity is 100Mbit and my desktop PC has a wired connection and 2TB of movies.

i had a 55" Philips OLED android TV in my living but is in the warranty (screen burn), that worked flaulessly with KODI.

i can stream to BOTH chromecasts from VLC any movie in 1080p without any problem.

BUT, with the xiaomi Mi Box S, my KODI movies just close after a few minutes of playback, netflix starts buffering and keeps loading content in lower resolution and even spotify has micro-cuts and then continues.

so, i reaaally like the box, but it's unusable. could it be a problem with that unit in particular? or it's just that? i can't even stream 1080p movies (like 3GB) to the box...

I just got the Mi Box S 4k. Overall happy with it so far, still playing around with it a bit. I'm having a couple issues which I hope someone can help me with.

1. Live Channels. Some of the Live Channels don't work in the Live Channels sections, but work in their own specific app. For Canadians, I'm having this issue with SportsNet Channels. They work in the SportsNet app, but not in the Live Channels section. Any idea on why this could be?
2. Some of the channels that offer live channels don't show up as an option in Live Channels (I've checked and they don't show up in the enable options for Live Channels). Apps like Global TV, CTV, Fox News, etc have live channels but don't show up.
3. I side loaded the TSN app using an APK. Issue is the APK is designed for mobile, so its thin (vertical) like a phone. Is there any way of fixing this so it fills the screen?

Hi guys. I've been using for years now the 2 older model DVR's from Channel Master. I have both the CM7400. And the newer CM7500 (aka DVR+). I love both. They made cord cutting a possibility for me. (If I HAD to choose one I would choose the older CM7400 probably). So when I saw they released a new one, the CM7600 (aka Stream+) I of course wanted it right away. But when I looked into it and saw what it is exactly, I realized that it wasn't for me. Because I mostly want it for a DVR, So all the streaming options and apps wasn't really interesting to me at all. Cause I didn't have very good WiFi anyway (I get it free from my landlord, but it's really slow when others use it too). But recently, like 2 weeks ago I found, and switched to a new cell phone carrier (Visible Wireless) so I'm getting fully truly unlimited data, (no speed caps) for only $25 monthly. And they also include free unlimited hotspot use! Which I never really used, but now with my unlimited data, why not! I can use it all day for my home computer etc etc. So in the back of my mind I even thought about the Stream+ now being a possibility..... And low and behold.....in perfect timing!!! I get a email from Channel Master about a March DVR madness sale. It only cost $89! That is a awesome price! And I even got another $5 off with a coupon code. So it only cost me total $84. The timing of this sale couldn't be better for me! Just when I got good enough internet to support it. Amazing timing! So I'm really excited to be finally getting the newest model of the Channel Master DVR's. I can't wait for it to be delivered! Ok ok, that's my story...... NOW HERE IS MY QUESTION!.......

My question is this. I couldn't find this info anywhere online. So I'm hoping a Stream+ owner could maybe tell me this.... How long can I pause live TV for?? What is the limit? On the DVR+ It's a 2 hour limit. In the older model allows till the show after the current ends (complicated I know). But I couldn't find this info anywhere about the Stream+ And also....if I pause live tv, say for 10 minutes. Or just rewind it 10 minutes. I can then fast fwd through commercials to catch up with live?? I saw someone saying online that you can't fast fwd. But it doesn't make sense! Then how do you catch up?? So please can any owner clarify this for me?
How long is the pause/rewind limit?. And can I fast fwd through the commercials to catch up? (Of course I know that changing the channel makes you lose the buffer. But my question would be for when I've been on the same channel for a while) Please enlighten me

I have three different Android TVs in the house.

If I try use the app to connect to one of the TVs and then try to use another one, I have to re-pair the remote over and over.

I own SONY KD-43XF7596 which I Googled and find out that it's compatible with Alexa but the apk "TV Control Setup with Amazon Alexa" isn't on my Apps. I tried to sideload an apk that a member on Reddit had uploaded 2 years go but it pops up an error "App not installed". I have the latest firmware (PKG6.6545.xxxx). It seems that it's available only on the UK, which I am not, so any UK member could extract the APK and share it with me or any ideas on how I could control my TV with Alexa? Thanks in advance

Hi I am a SONY A9F user from Shanghai, sadly, the least firmware Android 9pi here in China does not support Homekit and airplay. they just remove it or disable it. so I wish I can install the firmware from other area like US or others so that I can have homekit support. is there a way to do that?

I recently got a Xiaomi Mi Box S and I wanted to try Kodi. I installed the nolimits build and it's sooooo slow. Moving around the menus takes around 10-20 seconds from one window to the next (if not more). In my mobile (same network) works flawlessly though.

Have you noticed this?

I recently moved into a new place. There is no aerial so the TV is connected with cable and this is how I have tuned the channels. I think this cable was used for Virgin Media before I moved in. I want to download the 4od app but the tv asks me to install YouView first. I cannot do this I think because I don’t have an aerial? Am I doing something wrong or is there a way of downloading 4od?

I've had the mi box for quite a few months now and it has been working perfectly. However recently it appears that the audio is not in sync anymore and comes out delayed.

Originally thought it was just the YouTube app but it appears to be widespread as it's affecting Netflix, HBO, showtime etc. Any suggestions for what might be causing this or how to fix it? I have cleared cache & data but still not working.

I took a chance since walmart had this thing for $30 and since my 1st gen chromecast is dying I figure this thing could at least replace that. Well, It shows up as a stream device, connects, and instantly disconnects. I've tried everything. Anything I can do to get this thing to work?

Hi guys! Just bought the Xiaomi Mi Box S from Walmart for $30. Sideloaded xcloud (latest March 6th) apk and I could get it to install, sign in and even play Halo Master Chief. However, once I go back to the Android TV Home screen, I don't see the app installed. Looks like its automatically getting uninstalled. Am I doing something wrong?

I have a shield TV and a 1tb usb3 hdd attached, its not mounted as adoptable storage as i unplug it and take it to my parents and friends places, and its only for videos anyway.

Id like to be able to share it from the shield as a smb share so i can dump files onto it from the wifi, but i think the built in smb sharing is only for internal / adopted storage.

Is there any apk i could sideload that will happily run in the background, or do i need to be looking into root options?

when i connect my Bluetooth earphones to my Mi Box S my Internetconnection gets so alle i cant even watch Netflix. WiFi uses 5ghz and as far i know Bluetooth uses 2,4ghz so there shouldnt be a Problem. Anybody got some thougts in that ?
