Just got my Google TV, but having a crackling sound with the audio sometimes, not sure if I've got a dodgy unit. Anyone else experiencing this?

my device won’t go into settings cannot enable installing unknown apps like from the browser. For some reason the options are grayed out and not selectable, anyone else had this issue? Anyone know how to fix it?

Just installed my new Chromecast Google TV. Device is connected to AV Receiver. During setup it asked me to identify my AV Receiver, a 2019 Denon and I can control the volume of the receiver using the included remote. Image I see on the screen is that of volume bar I normally would see if I used my actual Denon remote. So it seems like it's communicating with receiver. HDMI-CEC is enabled.

If I turn off my setup, everything (tv and receiver) turn off. If I try to turn on my system using the included remote OR if I do so by asking the Google assistant, only tv turns on, not the AV receiver.

I’m trying to watch the Dodger game in 4K HDR using the Fox Sports app on the new chromecast but there is no 4K feed. I tried restarting the device, clearing the cache of the Fox Sports app. My tv is 4K compatible.

Is the app not compatible with the new chromecast yet? Because my 4K Fire stick and roku both are able to ply the 4K feed.

Given that the release of the new Chromecast will result in many enquiring about various streaming services are available outside their area. If those services need a login, a vpn, are available on the play store outside the country of origin or on apkmirror, what language they offer and what content, live local TV, movies or TV shows. And on what devices it is confirmed working. I'm only talking about legitimate services often by national broadcasters and that might be welcome to ex pats.

For example I know that my Netflix subscription with a VPN allows me to access content for other Netflix catalogs. (I'm outside the US so I can with a VPN access 'the west wing' which isn't available through Netflix at home.

Peacock from NBC is a free service with movies and TV shows, that with a VPN set to the states and a free account and an apk from apkmirror allows me access to their free content outside the US. (Tested on Nvidia shield pro 2019 and CCwGTV)

So what I had in mind was that people post info on the apps they know work outside where they were designed for? And what hoops you need to go through to get it working.

If you have access to a service like this and are willing to help please provide information about it and if you can extract the apk and submit it to apkmirror that would be awesome.

Does anyone know the version number of BBC iPlayer that's available for the CCGTV in the UK? I can't download it from the play store in the US so I'll need to sideload it.

I received mine (UK) today and the remote was very problematic from the start, it would not register key presses, and then suddenly register them all at once, causing the cursor to fly around the UI. After an hour or so of messing around I've found that I have to be sitting in the right position on the sofa and hold the remote above my head for it to work reliably. Presumably I must have some interference on the BT frequency, which I believe is 2.4Ghz. What could be causing this?

I use Proton VPN but the app is not native to Android TV. I got the APK sideloaded but cant sect the txt input to enter my username. I used to use mouse toggle on a firestick but cant seem to get it to work. Anyone got any ideas. Thanks.

I just purchased a Samsung TV (an entry level model of 2020), with his smart Os and support to casting and Google assistant. Do I still need the new Chromecast with Google TV? The old Chromecast I had is now useless, and with the new one not having Stadia support yet I don't see the point. I like Google UI but I don't think it's enough to have one, considering in Italy it's also much more expensive than in USA. Am I missing something?

Unplugging - no change

Factory reset - light won’t go yellow

Reset from Home App - ended up accidentally deleting it from Home App before I could try

Turn router off - nothing

Chatted with Google - they suggested all of the above

Any other suggestions ?

I just got the new Chromecast. I really liked the idea of it giving me suggestions on the homescreen. However, it seems every suggestion is from a service I'm not subscribed to. I don't even have the app installed for them.

I tried looking through all of the options. Is there any way to hide these suggestions?

I've seen that over recent months, the ability to add Android TV devices into Google Home Speaker Groups has come and gone. This is a deal breaker for me as I really want to get a Philips Android TV! Now the new Chromecast has been released, is running on Android TV and is being marketed as supporting grouping, has anyone noticed if the ability to add other Android TV devices to Google Home Speaker Groups has returned?

So coming from android tv boxes I at first liked the interface.. Until I realised that the Android 9 interface had some features that I can't see in google tv.

Shame its not configurable, as in removing certain genres and adding rows like I mention below.

I used to have say a Netflix row on the home screen that showed the shows we have been watching.

I was expecting a currently watching row on the home screen. As in TV series that we are currently watching not the row that exists where it shows episodes or movies you've started but not finished.. I was hoping for series that havent been finished (not based on if a half episode has been watched.

I guess I could use the watch list but that means I manually have to add eaxh series and its not to n the nice pretty home screen rather on a seperate tab.

I have mixed feelings on it now I have recieved it.

Biggest deal is that it can join speaker groups so that on its own might save it for me. My other android tv boxes running 9 and on beta cast don't allow it unfortunately.

Between yesterday and today Google appears to have removed the "Play All" button that used to be so conveniently located up the list of latest videos in any subscription. This means you now play the first video after which it autoplays some random crap recommended video (not from that channel) from 1993.

Have you noticed this?

Hey guys, i have a Android TV update on my Xioami Android TV. The Update is 1.09gb but I have 2gb of storage is it possible to save that storage on an usb stick or something like that? thx

While the Vimeo service in itself (content, features) is fantastic, their Android TV app leaves a lot to be desired.

Apparently it has not been updated in years, the interface is outdated and buggy, at least on my Mi Box.

Has Vimeo abandoned this app? Is there an alternative app or service that can be used to browse and watch Vimeo on Android TV?

(Using the Vimeo app on a mobile device and simply casting to the TV is possible, but not really a convenient experience.)
