Trying to use a sideloaded app, it appears misaligned and off-screen. Anyway to fix this?

Just got an android tv today, I'm trying out sideloaded apps and such. I loaded the PlayStation App onto my TV and it appears to be confused on where to display it. Half the screen becomes black with the left side becoming distorted and stretched. Im sure this is because this app wasn't meant for a TV, but are there any remedies for something like this? I figured I would ask before I give up.

TV is Sony X900H

Any video player apps supporting MKV hDR playback on Sony X900H?

I've tried a few apps to play HDR content, but none of them seems to be switching the TV into HDR mode.

Does anyone know if there are any video players that will support this?

What launchers do you guys recommend?

So I have an Android TV box now, but it comes with a mediocre Chinese launcher. What apps would you guys recommend to replace it? I've heard the official launcher isn't good anymore, and I feel like setting up something custom with Nova would just take way too long. Are there any particularly good ones that are available on the Play Store or whatever?

Nokia Streaming Box 8000 Review (Android TV 10)

Been testing this device over the last few days. It has the same CPU/GPU as the new Chromecast with Google tv.

##Video showing unboxing, home-screen and FAQ

Audio & video

Display resolution: 4K Ultra HD Video resolution: 4Kx2K@60fps, 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 576p, 576i, 480p, 480i

Audio decoding: Dolby Digital Plus

System & Memory

Operating system: Android 10

Chipset: Amlogic S905X3

CPU: Quad-Core Cortex-A55

GPU: ARM Mali-G31 MP2

SDRAM: DDR3: 2 GB

Flash: eMMC: 8 GB

Where this device excels is the fact that we get onboard Ethernet (100mb), USB 3.0 type A port and also Type-C USB (can only be used for charging). So if you do want to expand the storage or used wired ethernet, you don't need to buy any OTG cable / USB Hub (like we need to on the new Chromecast Google TV

Ethernet Speed test (my ISP max is ~340mb)

Chromecast with Type-C Ethernet Hub Nokia 8000
Test 1 280mb 94mb
Test 2 305mb 92mb
Test 3 310mb 95mb

5Ghz Speed test

Chromecast Nokia 8000
Test 1 302mb 311mb
Test 2 328mb 330mb
Test 3 331mb 303mb

###Pros

  • Snappy Android TV 10 Interface
  • Dedicated Ethernet port
  • USB 3.0 Type A port
  • Feature rich backlit remote with dedicated Play / Fwd / Rwd buttons as well as Youtube / Netflix / Google Play & Prime
  • 4K 60fps video playback was smooth (Youtube / USB drive)

###Cons

  • Type C USB port can only be used for charging (I tried various powered / unpowered USB hubs but nothing registered
  • No Gigabit ethernet
  • Cost about $120, so would be great to see a faster processor than what we get in the $50 Chromecast Google TV
  • HDR permanently on

cant cast to androidTv when its connected through an ethernet cable

Hello, I have the Xiaomi Mi 4S, which is of course an androidTV. When it is connected to my router via wifi I can cast everything to it with my phone or PC. However when I connect my TV to the router directly via an ethernet cable, its unable to be casted to. It still has proper internet connection, just via the cable now of course. But it does not pop up in the list of devices to cast to when i want to cast with my phone or pc. Also I did check whether the tv and my phone and pc are connected to the same network, which they are. So does anyone know what causes this and how to fix it?

I recently got a Xiaomi Mi TV 4S with Android TV, I have an issue where Netflix automatically changes the Picture settings to a Preset one , named HDR, and everytime I play a movie/video, I have to manually switch the setting to custom. Is there a way I can avoid this?

CCwGTV: low dialogue volume

I recently purchased the new Chromecast with Google TV and while things run fine in general, watching content on Netflix is impossible to watch due to very unbalanced audio where any music or background noise simply drowns out the dialogue.

This does not happen on the TV channels themselves and also not on the embedded Netflix App on my Sony Bravia TV. I actually had to switch back to that slow and terrible App about 10 minutes in because it was unbearable.

I have tried turning off the Surround Sound toggle in the Settings, but unfortunately this change made 0 difference. I have also tried to switch the general sound settings on my TV but also this made no difference (tried Clear Voice option, Automatic Audio, etc.)

Netflix is the streaming app I use the most so if I can't use it, there is not much point using the new Chromecast sadly.

Does anyone have/had similar issues? Any idea on how to tweak this?

GoogleTV Chromecast - Youtube app not available in your country!!!

I bought a new Chromecast with Google TV w/ remote... I wanted to install the Youtube app, couldnt find it, when I pressed the button on the remote, it took me to the Youtube app download page, but it says that the youtube app IS NOT AVAILABLE IN MY COUNTRY (Peru).

I dont understand this, I have a pixel phone and I have the app installed.. I even have the youtube app installed on my AMAZON FIRE TV STICK, signed in with my google account... And I go and buy a product from Google themselves and your own app doesnt work on your own device??????? Im sorry but that is just beyond stupid.

I have so many google products, from phone to nest, to chromecasts, etc.. this so dissapointing! There is no point in using the chromecast cause I watch youtube and netflix.. I have BOTH on my firestick.. i changed to google because I have the other products and since this is your first version with a remote I decided to change my firestick for it, theres no point if Ill have to watch netflix on chromecast and youtube on firestick!!!! when I have both installed on my firestick! This is such a joke!!! Get your sh together Google!!!

**EDIT:

Hey guys, sorry for the late update. Just in case anyone is wondering, there is a solution that was mentioned in the comments by: mustang_vst (thanks a lot!) I have a friend that lives in USA, he created an account for me, gave me the credentials, and then I used it to login to the chromecast. I had previously formatted to factory default. When I entered the USA gmail account, in the default services that appeared, the option for YouTube was enabled. After that I reformatted the device, and when I used my regular NON USA gmail, the option to install YouTube was still there! I took a picture but cant figure out how to attach, hope you take my word for it, it worked! So thanks again to mustang_vst and everyone else that chipped in with their solutions!
