has anyone seen a comparison table that shows how long certain brands offer software/firmware updates for their devices? Like a comparison between Amazon, Google and Nvidia?

I've had FireTV Sticks on my previous tv's which could control external devices like my old Yamaha YST800 soundbar, but I just got a BEAUTIFUL 65" 4K Hisense, and cannot figure out if I can control my Soundbar with the remote.

I do believe the Hisense remote is Bluetooth, but if it has IR as well, is it possible to program it to control the soundbar as well? I don't want to use multiple remotes if I can help it, and I don't want to (possibly?) lose functionality (HDR?) if I switch back to a FireTV stick...

Anyone have any ideas?

I recently got a sony a80j for my dad to enjoy some youtube, netflix, movies, shows etc. However what I am having trouble is using the google assistant. It works but it seems limited - i could say the crown and it would show the series, some youtube findings and results from the web browser. What I want to do however is to simply show the crown from netflix which is already installed and etc. I made it work by downloading google home on my phone and speaking to the assistant there like - play the crown on my tv. Any idea if I can make it work without the need for a phone so simply by speaking to the remote?

I struggled for days trying to get my Chromecast with Google TV to read files from my 8tb hard drive. I own the Paragon NTFS app, and well, it doesn't work because Google neglected to include the Storage Access Framework.

So I heard good things about the Onn Streamer from Walmart... It's a cheap $30 for the 4k version, specs are remarkably similar to the Google variety.

It uses micro USB rather than usb-c, and though not documented, it works perfect with an OTG USB hub with power passthrough!! Whoo!

So I plug in my monster hard drive, planning to see if the SAF is supported and... No need.

This thing can read GPT NTFS natively, out of the box! 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯

This el-cheapo Android TV device is actually better than Google's pride and joy Chromecast with Google TV.

If you don't have one, I highly recommend it. Kodi with a directly attached drive so far is SO much faster than Plex over Wi-Fi.

So, ever since connecting an external hard drive to my TCL BeyondTV5 and formatting it as device storage, I've been periodically getting alerts that "You don't have an app that can do this." It happens when using apps, when playing games, and even when I'm just on my PS3! Seriously, I could be dashing through the streets of Spagonia as Sonic and "You don't have an app that can do this" appears at the bottom! No hard interruption (though Android software and CEC functions tend to freeze for a few seconds just before the bubble appears) but very annoying! Any way to trace these messages?

So I brought a new Bush 32 inch tv from Argos about a week ago and I was super anxious buying this tv as I’ve never brought anything this expensive before and was worried I was going to get a silly one and waste £200. However it happened. BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All4 etc have been working fine for first few days I got it. However recently the following error message in the title has appeared every time I open the apps since. I want help as I have no clue if I can even send the tv back, I had to completely damage the box as it was packaged so tightly I couldn’t get into it without tearing it apart. Anyone got any advice? I’ve tried looking everywhere online for a solution but nothing has worked. I’ve factory reset the tv, tried updating it, everything that’s out there and nothing has worked at all.

In my bluetooth tv latency is the problem. Is bluetooth 5.0 good in latency and in dolby audio quality?

I’ve been able to easily setup on many devices (LG TV / Sky Q / iPad etc) and login to my existing account on YouTube kids which automatically shows my two childrens’ profiles

On CCWGTV however it simply isn’t possible, it just asks me to create a single account and set their age, so it has no history on blocked / allowed content etc.

This seems so stupid that I must be doing something wrong - any ideas?

I purchased a new GoogleTV Chromecast last week. I had Netflix and Disney+ on my son's profile the other day. Now since Monday it does not show up under installed apps on his profile. I can't figure out how to add it. It's on my profile as an installed app. What am I missing.

I have two Sony Bravias that run Android TV, but I'm not always happy with them. Their performance is not great and they lag behind in updates.

I'm debating getting the new Chromecast to use on these TVs, but it feels a bit redundant. I guess my biggest question is how would I prevent there being two cast targets for devices? I would only want it to cast to the Google TV. Also I've read that the new Chromecast doesn't fully support things like Dolby Vision in all apps.

Has anyone done this? What results are have you seen?

Here is my question, I Buy an Onn android TV (not device), it runs Android 7.0, I want to integrate it with Home Assistant but all required steps does not work on this device, no developer options and no way to activate them, it came with a custom app store and does not have settings app. Is there a way to install settings app in order to activate ADB on this TV?

I downloaded button mapper on android tv and I go to accessibility it comes to home screen it doesn't work then I uninstalled the button mapper and came back to accessibility it works pls tell me how to solve the issue.

When the TV was new, we could activate google assistant by speaking to the TV set.

Now, it will only activate google assistant if we press the assistant button on the remote.

Nothing has changed about the TV setup.

The MIC LED indicator is on.

Troubleshooting:

Tried the command words in a quiet room.

Reset the TV

Changed the TV position (wall vs table) per the Sony Troubleshooting instructions

Toggled the Google Assistant on and off

Checked that the device is logged into a valid Google account.

I frequently watch filler content instead of listening to music. So most of the day Wild Earth safaris on YouTube are playing. However when there is a live event like sporting events I would love, during game stoppage, to be able to instantly flip back to that Safari during commercials or halftime. You can do this with a cable DVR, going back and forth between Live and a DVR show you are watching. Maybe holding down the Back button would be the intiator. As it is, I have to rebrowse the other content. Does anyone else do this? I think it would be a great addition.

Everyone I rename my TV in the home app after a few days it automatically switches back to the model number which makes control through the assistant impossible. Any suggestions? Is there a name setting in the TV I need to change? It's a Phillips 4k ambilight model no. 43PUS7304/12
