Is there a way to clean the buttons?

Baby wipes work fine, and wash your hands more often.

Isopropyl Alcohol around 90% - you don't want much water on electronics. It's my go to for cleaning electronics with minimal risk of damage. You can find it at your local drug store.

Aunt Fannie's Cleaning Vinegar Wipes. Safe, non toxic, works on everything. Order from Amazon. (EVERY THING the commenter below me said is a No NO)

Have any of the geniuses in these comments actually successfully cleaned their CCwGTV remotes' buttons? I genuinely want a solution to this too, but if people are just throwing out guesses it's not super helpful.

Alcohol wipes! Take batteries out first.

Your going to think I'm crazy, but WD-40 on a rag. Wipe vigoursly and then use iso alcohol to finish.

You can use Isopropyl Alcohol to clean it or go and buy those electronic cleaning wipes at Walmart. These are alcohol based cleaning solutions that evaporate quickly and won't leave a chance for any liquid residue to damage components.

get yourself some some scott shop towels. Wet two with soap and hot water, wring out to prevent excess spillage, get to cleaning that damn thing! if it's not the buttons, maybe try washing your hands more often.

Recommend "Cleaning Gel" -- search Amazon. This or similar: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B07GW9TJ3G

To all the people saying wash your hands, this discoloration can happen even with a clean hand. Mine became very yellow like it was used by someone who smokes within 1-2 months of owning the device. No one in the household smokes so it was odd. Had to get it replaced via warranty after someone from Google contacted me via reddit on a different thread that reported discoloration. They took the original one that got discolored to analyze it.

The replacement remote I got seem to be not getting the discoloration issue at the moment.

Take apart and use a degreaser.

Hey guys just pulled my SNES out of storage and it is very yellowed! Anyone know a fix? Yellow?! You should be ashamed of yourself! Disgusting! You must live in filth!

That’s how you “wash your hands!” guys sound. As if plastic has never yellowed in the history of modern electronics.

Sounds like a job for urine therapy

One thing I can say from experience, unfortunately, is that this thing is a PAIN to open. Not only are there many stiff clips on the sides, clamping it very tightly, there are components on the circuit board very close to the edge where you would insert a prying tool and you can knock some off and permanently damage the remote. Don't ask how I know.

So if you were to try and clean the buttons in some kind of liquid solution (idk, baking soda and dish soap?) I would remove the batteries and lay it face down into a very thin layer. This way you don't risk shorting anything, and you don't get any liquid into the remote where you can hardly remove it later.

EDIT: Ok ok I'm not telling you to do that, I'm just saying to take out the batteries and not submerge it no matter what you're doing. Sheesh, stop downvoting me I'm already dead
