Fuming at my new smart tv. Keep getting the following pop up from freeview play“oops that is an error! Unable to connect properly, sorry. Error code : FVP-300”

by Sam_in_peas

So I brought a new Bush 32 inch tv from Argos about a week ago and I was super anxious buying this tv as I’ve never brought anything this expensive before and was worried I was going to get a silly one and waste £200. However it happened. BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All4 etc have been working fine for first few days I got it. However recently the following error message in the title has appeared every time I open the apps since. I want help as I have no clue if I can even send the tv back, I had to completely damage the box as it was packaged so tightly I couldn’t get into it without tearing it apart. Anyone got any advice? I’ve tried looking everywhere online for a solution but nothing has worked. I’ve factory reset the tv, tried updating it, everything that’s out there and nothing has worked at all.

A previous time this error was posted here, the OP mentioned needing an aerial plugged in for it to work (is that UK for antenna/rabbit ears?) https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidTV/comments/i4c2g1/freeview_play_apps_not_working

A search for the error code on this sub might get you some additional results.

try updating your tv through local usb update worked for me find your model here https://tclnordic.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360012806599-TCL-TV-software-downloads

then follow the steps

usb bigger than 4gb formatted fat or fat32

downloads update for your model of tv

unpack/unzip the zip file

enter the file you just unzipped will see another zip file inside do not unzip that but copy or drag that zip file to usb

plug usb into tv

go to settings

go to about

go to software update

click local update

it should find the update and install automatically
