Didn't Google make it clear that going forward the two would be merged under the Google TV name with the Google TV Launcher becoming default? If that's the case then this is more that merging beginning than Android TV swiping anything. I hate bullshit headlines like that. I personally still don't like the launcher though, ads-ads-ads isn't what I wanted.
I don't care anything about a single line watchlist. Watchlist should be it's own tab and the items should be user orderable.
And again, I guess we third world country resident left out of these updates. Man, these news are meaningless for us. This news even fails to mention feature availability.
Google is delivering three new features to devices, such as the Nvidia Shield, various
Hisense and Sony TVs, and basically everything that isn’t a Chromecast.
The 3 Features are
I like the Watchlist at Google TV
That is 🐮💩.
Google pushes invasive and unwanted ads to premium devices
Ftfy
(Check out r/nvidiashield and r/shieldandroidtv for current work-arounds to remove the ads)
Getting really sick of the world's 'Hive Mind/Group Think' POV about everything that sucks.
Oh this is great
Only thing I disliked about the new update was the lack of recommendation control and no Watchlist, this update fixes those awesome
I really like the new Google TV software. But I had thought that basically Android TV would eventually just always use the Google TV layer above.
So not just some of the features but ultimately the entire thing. Which would make sense. But I do think Google could have done a better job with the naming/branding. I think it is a bit confusing.
I wonder when the global rollout starts. Most of Europe still had none of these new features.
Same company..same base product
Google or my OEM don't give enough of a toss about my country to send the update and I think this is an absolute win in this case
I'm actually excited about all this but one of the biggest flaws is still that there are just to little services supporting the discovery tab. Over here in Germany i have only 3 services to choose from.
Welp, the Watchlist feature saves me from having to plug in my CCwGTV into my Hisense U6G and thus saving me an HDMI port.
After the update on Android TV I cannot find Settings > Device Preferences > Home Screen and turn off “Enable video previews” on Philips TV.
Home screen option does not exist.
Any idea?
Haven't got the Google TV UI, so don't care.
Forced ads that take the majority of space on the home screen now is a "best feature"
I uninstalled Google play services and now I have the original home. I hope this change will never appear automagically on my devices
