greetings!
i am trying to use an IPBS9510 set top box as a generic android TV device, mostly for the Kanopy library streaming app. the device was purchased when i was an iptv subscriber with start.ca (https://www.androidtv-guide.com/pay-tv-provider/start-ca-start-tv).
i am no longer a START customer, and do not have their remote.
i've done a factory reset, but there is still START firmware on the device; after it boots, there is a remote pairing screen (which shows a picture of the START tv remote). i can't figure out a way to get past this pairing screen without a START remote available.
i do know that the device can be controlled with a USB keyboard and/or mouse... i've done that before. it would be totally fine for me if that was my input method -- i just have to get past the remote pairing procedure somehow!
i've tried using a few android universal remote apps on my Samsung phone. if the IPBS9510 is on an ethernet cable, then those apps do see and identify it on the network. however, they ask for a 4-digit code, saying it should be visible on the tv. unfortunately, the pairing screen (fed by HDMI from the STB) does not show the code, so i'm unable to pair.
is there some way to get past the pairing screen using my USB keyboard?
or is there some non-START firmware version which will solve this problem? i've done a lot of searching about that -- the procedure seems clear, but i have been unable to find a firmware image for this device.
...or some other solution anybody here knows about??
thanks in advance for any help you're able to offer... cheers!
