Updating Android TV to unsupported OS version

by mmbento

It’s my first time using an Android TV device. I have a Mi TV Stick, which I know it’s not one of the best ones out there but it fulfills my demands. I updated it to a newer version but it is still on Android 9. I want to know if there is any way to install Android 10, 11 or the new Google TV software. Thanks.

There aren't any 3rd party firmwares for aby Android TV devices that I've seen.

Almost every device is running ATV 9 or earlier. The CCwGTV, Formuler GTV, and I think one MeKool device run ATV 10, and the ADT-3 has ATV 11/ATV 12 beta.

ATV 10 supposedly added very little to nothing for the TV side. ATV 11 added some stuff like low latency audio (whichbinthink Google backported to 10 for the CCwGTV for Stadia support). ATV 12 is supposed to add features as well.

I think so devices will jump starlight from 9 to 12 if they are going to update at all.

Edit: ADT-3 not 1. And GTV

There's no way to manually install android TV OS version. If the stick gets android 10 (luckily), it will be through an official update.

"The new google TV software" is actually the new android TV UI, which looks a lot like the google TV UI. It's available in the USA, UK, France, Germany etc. and slowly roiling out to other countries. Eventually all android TV device will get it.
