Funny. My MiBox works just fine.
I think you are a unlucky person. I have one MiBox 3, two MiBox S, and one MiStick TV. All of them work without any problem, and have latest firmware installed. I never tried to change firmware or anything else. Its how was made by Xiaomi. End i never turned off, because I can't understand why do i need to turn off a 10W max. device. Many people have a problem with that. I don't.
The best choice is to make a donation, not to broke something with a hammer. I really think with a factory reset, it will be a good device again. Just take in mind the possibility. And maybe you're expectations was to high for a cheap device.
I guess you know you can enter on Android Recovery menu and you can format/wipe cache partition. From time to time its recommend. It will work like new.
My lady still runs a Mi Box 4k without issue.
Waste of tech, should've sold it to someone better suited for it.
Mine never had a problem
Same. Switched to chromecast with google tv and never been happier
Ok
My MiBox S stabilized after the Android 9 update and a factory reset. There have been more than a few MiBox S owners that have had it a lot worse. You have my sympathy and upvotes.
Video the destruction and monetize it, maybe it can pay for a Walmart Onn box or an Amazon 4k Fire stick.
It looks broken. Maybe thats why?
Bullshit, you just snapped a broken remote in half. Show photos after you've smashed the box.
Never had any problems with my mibox S. You probably got bad unit at start...
Just get a chromecast with google tv.
Nvidia Shield is always the right answer.
BEFORE YOU DO THIS. I had the same issues with my device and was fixed with one app. Download Wakelock Revamp and enable Wifi Performance and Processor and boot at start. My box is a whole other device now and enjoyable to use. No issues sleep wake and no issues with lagging after waking. Try this before getting out the hammer!
Plot twist: it works as its suppose to after getting beaten
Tivo stream 4k is calling you.
I went to the shield, night and day. Should have done it years ago
Mi Box S was my first Android TV streamer and I won't even use it for my secondary room now after getting my Shield, its interface lags so much now in comparison (particularly in Tivimate). Picked up a TiVo Stream 4k for that room which feels much better and has a pretty cool remote too.
I like my nVidia shield pro. Don’t know if something better since but it’s great.
I've never had an issue with my Mi Box. Too bad for you. I assume you got a defective one.
Should have sold to CEX or similar recycling store to get some cash for new box.
Owner of 3 Mi Box 3's and 1 Mi Box S. Had wifi connect issues on the 3's a while ago, but that's since been solved. They all work perfectly.
I just unplug mine when it goes into a deep sleep and won’t wake up. Takes like two seconds. It’s really not that big of a deal. The deep sleep issue seems to come and go as it pleases. It’s still a great box that gets regular updates, given it’s age and original price.
Its funny cause mine always worked exactly as it should. I have original mi box 3, its been with me for like 4 years now lol, and for 45eu i paid for it, its brilliant. I did have an issue for like 3 months, were after sleeping, iptv would start stuttering. Recent update fixed that and again, its working perfectly
Also I know about developer options, beta firmwares etc., but it just wasn't cooperating. Can't handle this crap after hard working days when I just wanna lie down and consume some content. I don't wanna fix a single device every day outside my career. Got enough stuff to fix at work already. Seriously, f*** you, Xiaomi.
Hey, if you don't need it, I would take it. Or at least you could sell it to someone else. Makes no sense to destroy perfectly fine HW.
Never had a problem with mine, but I just got the walmart onn 4k box for 30 bucks just so I can be on android 10 its great! Solid replacement
I have the same issues. I formatted two of them and they just boot up slower. No idea why.
Glad to see you handled it like a small child. Very cool.
Never had one of those problems but others worse like not connecting to my Wi-Fi for a week rendering it unusable.
Right on. Back in May my three Miboxes stopped working with tivimate. Constant freezing and crashing. Replaced them with the cheap Walmart box. Works perfectly now
These things suckk!! I never owned one but I saw what people were saying about them and now I'm glad I listened. Unlucky!! Don't blame you for rage quitting. I would. Hahaha
give it away to a willing tinkerer instead
The bucks you aved, the headaches you won. Sometimes it's just better to pay more and avoid headaches.
I don't blame you, I've been there, seen that
I really want to do the same except it is not a box but a built in Android TV in a 2k€ Sony OLED TV.
God every single day I'm close to unplug the shiit and throw the entire TV trough the window. It's laggy and buggy as hell. What really grinds my gears is that I spent HOURS watching reviews about this tv (Sony A8G from 2019) and not a single one mentinoned the crappy Android TV UI. And what realy f***** grinds my gears even more is that my father has the Sony A9G which was just a couple hundred more and runs fine. It's like if its made on purpose to differentiate their product range.
For clarification about destroying perfectly fine hardware and not selling/giving it away - cant do that as of yesterday that box wont react even to external USB or wireless keyboard. Tried new batteries, tried different USB hubs and direct connection, tried new power supply. I cant even get my data off that thing anymore. Im not giving away any device with my accounts linked to it, even if its not possible to get it out of there.
Also a while ago I did open it up and check for thermal pads as it was very hot indoors and maybe it was overheating. Wasnt the case either.
Not to say it's perfect or anything but I quite like mine. It has it's issues but easily trumps the fire stick it replaced
What are you going to replace it with?
It does quite a lot for the price but too many crashes and problems. A few weeks ago I sold the Mi Box S 4K and ordered an nVidia Shield Pro 2019. It is recommended.
I bought a Mi stick for $49AUD and it hasn't skipped a beat. Must have been a lemon
I threw my mi box in the garbage and got a Mecool KM6 Deluxe and I couldn’t be happier now.
I have it since it came to the market, never had a single problem with it and I use it every day.
