I've been using Android TV since the Nexus Player first came out and I have some tips to speed up your device that worked for me. These are obvious to advanced users but newbies will find these useful.

Disable the Google app if you don't use it. Go to Settings > Apps > Google app and Disable it so it never runs in the background. (Easy)
If syncing Google info isn't important to you, disable syncing of all your information to your Android TV device so it never syncs in the background. Go to Settings > Accounts > Your account > disable all the sync activities like Calendar, People details, Contacts, etc. (Easy)
Experiment with using open-source apps instead of using proprietary apps that use a lot of resources. Use S0undTV instead of the official Twitch app. You can also try alternatives to popular open source apps like Kodi. I prefer using /r/NovaVideoPlayer/ over Kodi, for example, because it is Android native.
Don't let your device storage get close to full. Stop using apps that constantly download data. If you have a big Kodi library with tons of metadata, you may have to just use Kodi without downloading metadata.
Keep your device away from hot devices like the back of your TV or other devices that emit heat. Put it in a place with good airflow or at least a cool surface. Some people even report putting their device on a small metal surface to use as a heatsink to cool it further.

My USA coworker sent one up to me for use in Canada.

To replace an aging Google Nexus Player.
Setup was smooth and glitch free. It had a fairly large (800mb) update right when it first connected.
I'm connected via the built-in ethernet adapter rather than using wifi.
Running Android 11, OS patch level October 5, 2021.
8GB device. I have 2.4GB available now
Paired beautifully with Bluetooth headphones and an Xbox controller. Stadia working excellent.
Installed 'Send files to tv' on it and my Android phone. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.yablio.sendfilestotv
Was then able to easily install MoviesHD app too
So far pretty happy with it. Runs snappier than the old Nexus player of course. Not a bad purchase for Canada if you happen to be in USA or have USA friends.

I looked at this earlier and was a little confused.
The country listed with products means the manufacturers origin? Do i make a choice on that?
I wanted something i could torrent, use vpn, browse the internet, use spotify with. Basically all the stuff i use my laptop with whilst on the TV but without actually using it. I wanted to free up my laptop for other things.
Does any android box do all of that? They all use the same OS is my assumption.
Also if i can torrent, can it do it into a usb/hdd? My mate told me if something has integrated flash drive itll run hot and reduce its life time.
Im thinking of getting a Xiaomi Mi Box, and was wondering if Unified Remote works with it.
Also if anyone has any comments on the Mi Box that would be helpful. It seems pretty decent from all ive seen.
