Is there any way to switch back to a TV broadcast from an Android box?

by jayydoz

Not sure if this is a software challenge or a remote challenge. I purchased a JBL Link Bar a few weeks ago but I feel like my question isn't device-specific.

So HDMI 2 is the only input that's ARC-enabled on my TV (an LG), so that's what I have my JBL Link Bar connected to. When I'm watching a TV broadcast (OTA with an antenna), I can easily switch over to the Link Bar from the broad using the provided JBL remote (ex. pressing Home takes me to the home screen). But I can't do the reverse. At least not while the input is on HDMI 2 and I'm connected to the JBL Link Bar. The only way I can switch back to the TV broadcast is by pressing "TV" on the remote provided by the television manufacturer.

I'd really like to not have to constantly use two different remotes for my TV viewing habits. Is this a function of the JBL remote not having an IR blaster? It should be moot considering it's connected via ARC right.

Shorter post: because of ARCX, I can control the TV broadcast volume and channels with the JBL remote, and I can control the Link Bar with the LG remote. But I can't turn on the TV broadcast from the Android TV or using the remote provided by JBL.

Make sense?

Not the solution you are looking for, but you could buy an HDHomerun. Connect your antenna to the HDHR and pull your channels in thru the Live Channels app.

No special knowledge of the Link Bar but in general, if you enable HDMI-CEC then the TV should auto-switch to the HDMI input when the HDMI-connected video source is taken out of standby and then drop back to whatever input was active (eg. internal TV tuner) when the external device is put back into standby.

Try a Logitech Harmony remote. For my Samsung TV it is able to switch from HDMI inputs to live TV with a programmable button

Does the JBL bar have Alexa/ Google? You could audibly tell it what to do.
