I have no idea how to use the 'TV Guide' app, has anyone ever got more than just the default Play Movies & TV on it?

Android for Sony Bravia has a 'TV Guide' for streaming channels but there is no option at all to add any streaming channels so there only think on this guide is Play Movies & TV from Google.

Is this a failed app that never got support after it was first released or is there a guide to turn this app into a fully functioning TV Guide?

Accessing Android TV USB HDD remotely

I'm about to move house and looking to re-arrange my media. I currently have an Alfawise H96+ Android box connected to my TV which is running Kodi/Libreelec.

Is it possible to remotely transfer files from my home PC to the USB hard drive attached to the Android box? Or am I easier just moving the hard drive and copying the files over physically?

Strange symbols appear instead of name of show

This started last night without warning. I tried to watch another episode of my show. Instead of the usual title strange images appeared and the show would not play. This is what I saw and still see: <![CDATA[Game of Thrones]. At the time, I was using Tempest. I tried to run it on Exodus - same thing. I tried on several other shows. Same thing. I was able to watch movies.

This morning I tried again. Same thing.

I deleted data from Kodi 18.4. I tried installing tempest but it would not let me. I installed Exodus Redux. Tried to play tv show - same thing. Any help? I'm using Kodi 18.4 on Android tv box.

Best option for nVidia Gamestream? (not shield)

Hi all

I'm after an android TV solution that will run Moonlight. It needs to have WiFi, USB for a wireless keyboard/mouse and at least 1080p resolution HDMI. I don't play twitch games, just RPGs and strategy games, maybe even the odd MOBA. I have a relatively low budget, less than £50

I was considering the A95X Max, but wondering if it's overkill.

TIA!

Sideloaded apk doesn't show up on my tv.

I downloaded X-plore and logged into my google drive account where I put the apk. When I click on it it copies the file to "temp" and then allowed me to install and access the app. But when I back out of X-plore it doesn't show up under my other apps. Any help what I'm doing wrong?

edit: I should also mention that it show up as installed on x-plorer's App Manager. The tv is a Xiaomi Mi Smart TV 4S.

OK, maybe I get it now. Smart TVs and boxes both have their place.

I'm late to this party, but I have a confession: I was sort of wrong about smart TVs.

I've been ranting against smart TVs for years, insisting that displays should not be "smart" at all. All the while I never actually owned one, but I knew some day I would be forced to as fewer and fewer "dumb" TV's remained on the market. For me, a TV was nothing more than a very large computer monitor for all your attached devices and doo-dads, which get replaced as they go obsolete, while a good TV should last me 7-10 years. A smart TV was, in my mind, a scam toward planned obsolescence, only this time you are replacing a $500-$1000 investment every couple years rather than $50-$200. Of course, you may HAVE to buy a smart TV, but you shouldn't buy it FOR the smart features.

So last weekend I followed my own buying advice and bought a Sony Bravia x800g solely for its fantastic HDR, its reviews and its holiday price. When I got it home, I hooked up my Nvidia Shield right away because Lord knows I'm not going to use whatever crap software was inside this TV. But then I hit "power" and - what's this? An Android boot animation?

(I'm sure it's common knowledge in this sub that Sony Bravias run Android TV, but what can I say? I was a set top box snob and didn't care about smart TVs.)

To my surprise, it's not so bad. Of course, it's nowhere NEAR as snappy as my 2015 Shield, but it's alright considering I would have bought it for the price I paid without any smart tech whatsoever. Android TV was like a freebie, so I can't complain. Sony loaded the app drawer with bloatware, of course, but I've removed them from the home screen so I don't think of them much.

One big surprise is that this TV actually does some things BETTER. Particularly, turning on or waking the TV with the remote or with Google Home is much faster than my Shield, mainly because the latter had to do so by communicating with my Receiver and TV through HDMI-CEC. The Shield talking to my old Onkyo receiver sometimes took as long as a minute.

Also, the Bravia seems to handle my old legacy HDHomeRun tuner's MPEG2 streams over WiFi without a glitch. I have no idea why. My Shield had to receive MPEG2 over a hardwired Ethernet connection. My only theory is that Sony focused a lot on limiting packet loss over WiFi to make it work flawlessly with external tuners, but I can only guess.

The Shield is now moved to the bedroom, still serving as my Plex library server while retiring my old Nexus Player that served me well for many years. I'm sure that once my Bravia stops receiving security updates I can just turn off its WiFi and hook up the latest Shield.

So I guess the moral is that every piece of tech has it's place for someone. I wont give up on the trusty external Android TV boxes, but "smart" TVs aren't nearly as "dumb" (lame pun intended) as I thought. For now, this set up works.

Xiaomi mi tv box s ethernet adapter type

Guys, does the tplink ue300 Ethernet adapter still work on your xiaomi mi tv box s? Does the latest OS build support tp link ue300?? I just ordered xiaomi mi tv box s without looking on the Ethernet port (idiot me) and just realised that I will need an Ethernet adapter .. I also read that some are experiencing issues with some adapters, so confirming before ordering an adapter would be nice!

Or does the adapter need to be USB 2.0?

Appreciate any help!

By the way, does anyone have a user guide for remote/smart iptv app combination?

Thx in advance if you ever answer.

Does the Xiaomi MI Tv Box S has good enough specs for internet browsing?

My father wants a device to attach to his desktop monitor where he can browse the internet. He's got a PC but is tired of the less-than-snappy performance, and long boot times. I thought of buying a Xiaomi Box S for him, but I'm concerned about the CPU/GPU specs... Do you think he'll get a good browsing experience? We already have a good bluetooth mouse / keyboard combo, and will connect an ethernet hub to it.

In his own words: "I want the browser to be as fast as it is on my phone"
