Accessing Android TV USB HDD remotely

by ianrobbie

I'm about to move house and looking to re-arrange my media. I currently have an Alfawise H96+ Android box connected to my TV which is running Kodi/Libreelec.

Is it possible to remotely transfer files from my home PC to the USB hard drive attached to the Android box? Or am I easier just moving the hard drive and copying the files over physically?

Seeing as you're currently running LibreElec on it, You'd probably be better off asking over here: https://www.reddit.com/r/libreELEC/new Otherwise, as an Alfawise H96+ isn't an official ATV OS box (it runs tablet Android out of the box instead), you could also ask over here: https://www.reddit.com/r/androidtvboxes/new

I've been able to connect from my PC to my Android TV box using quite a few different applications (mostly sideloaded) with different results. AirDroid works, but requires a bluetooth mouse to be able to get to a Skip button. ES File Explorer can spin up a FTP server. Asus File Explorer can run a FTP server as well. All of these options required me to disconnect from Ethernet and connect via Wifi for it to properly detect a network connection and start up the local server. My Android TV USB hard drive is encrypted and tied to the Android TV box so I can't plug it in to my desktop. If your H96+ has a spare USB port and you can load your media up onto a USB stick and use a file explorer to transfer the media, that might be the easiest way.
