Xiaomi Mi Box apps no Audio except for Netflix

Hi -

About 3-4 days ago began having a problem with my Xiaomi Mi box. All Apps (Plex, Youtube, Kodi) except for Netflix are producing no audio. Video playback is fine (no errors) but no sound at all.

However, Netflix app is working great - audio and video are perfect and do not require any changes to amp or tv config to get it to work.

Any recent changes to Xiaomi Mi box updates that would cause this? Any changes to Netflix app that is somehow preventing other apps from outputting audio (I know, seems unlikely)

I've rebooted Mi box many times but no change in behaviour.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

X

JBL Link Bar Chromecast built-in update

I understand from the other thread that JBL Link Bar Chromecast built-in app was updated recently to fix/introduce the audio group sync.

For the people who received the update, could you please provide the version of Chromecast built-in app apk?

Also, could you please share the apk that you have on JBL Link Bar? I would like to check if it works on Shield TV.

I tried to get the apk from the other thread but my comments were hidden under some good information.

Best Gaming Controller?

Hey everyone,

I have an "N8 Plus" Android TV Box.

I downloaded epsxe from the Play store and need a controller that will work.

I have been trying for hours to use a dualshock 3 and 4 only to find out it seems to be impossible.

Does anyone know a controller I can buy that will work with the N8 Plus and the epsxe emulator?

Thanks!

Builtin Chromecast in Mibox has gone bad

It's a new bug, which is odd, I didn't notice there being an update or anything.

In the past, you could use the builtin chromecast as a chromeccast. But now, if you do that, the chromecast background will stay visible. You can hear the video and everything, but the video won't appear unless you hit the home button in the mibox remote.

This really kills the strongest point of android TV for me. That not only you can run any android app but that it can still function like a chromecast when you just want to play video from your phone :/

I have some specific requirements for an Android TV box, is this good enough?

Hi,

Sorry if it's the wrong sub to ask, but I found no better subs.

So, I have a TCL 50P6US 4K HDR TV, with a very useless smart OS that has no apps and no useful features besides Miracast.

I need to be able to play local video files with an external audio track, and I only know of MX Player on Android that does this. In addition, I want to use Steam Link in-home streaming, and that's on Android as well.

So I thought of getting an Android TV box. The problem is the selection is very limited in my country, and the units that are available have unreasonable prices.

The features I'm looking for in such a box are:

  • 4K HDR output.

  • Ethernet port for Steam Link

  • Bluetooth 4.0+ support for Steam controller.

  • USB ports for external hard drives.

That's it.

I know everybody is going to recommend the Nvidia Shield right now, but lemme just say that it's vastly out of my price range and even if I wanted to spend that much, I'd spend half and add a GT 1030 or something to an old PC I have lying around for 4K HDR support and use that. Besides, it's not available in my country anyway.

Mi Box S is available, but it lacks an ethernet port and adding an ethernet dongle would devoid it of its only USB port, not to mention increas the cost to unreasonable levels.

So, I found this model: H96 Max

Its price is somewhat reasonable and while I know it's not great, will it be good enough for my needs?

Thanks.

Anyone using Samsung TV One Remote with Mi Box S or Nvidia Shield?

Samsung TV seems to lack certain buttons on the remote.

  1. If I regularly switch from Digital TV to Mi Box, do I have to always press Home button>Navigate several icons to select Source>Choose Mi box, or is there a shortcut on the remote that works similarly to Input button found on many other TVs remote?
  2. Do all buttons like Home/Apps works to control the Mi Box or the Home button opens the Samsung menu instead?

Trying to stream using VPN from mobile to TV

I'm trying to stream the Disney+, Amazon Prime, Hulu and Netflix apps with VyprVPN set to USA. I have a non-smart TV with USB and HDMI ports, and a Chromecast and Amazon Fire. I tried mirroring my screen via the Chromecast and Fire cast and mirroring functions but it's not working (is this because of the VPN??) I also tried a cord from the charging port (USB C) on my Honor 7 phone to the HDMI on the TV, but the TV screen is just black. Would love some advice!

4k UI now supported?

Sorry if I missed it but is this now supported or am I experiencing some sort of glitch? I rebooted my shield today and when it came back on everything was small. I decided to switch the resolution to 1080 and everything looked normal. Flipped back to 4k and its small again and I am able to see many more apps and rows which to me is what the UI would look like in 4k. I tried searching for news about it but I just found older posts about how it isn't natively supported yet.

Internet connection issues

Hi everybody. I have a Philips 55PUS7363/12 that somehow completely forgets the internet when I turn it off overnight. I have tried WiFi with password, WiFi with WPS and an Ethernet cable, they all have the same issue. I have to restart my router everyday, and it's getting super annoying. I have multiple smart devices hooked up to the internet all the time. Philips hue, Sonos speakers, Roomba, Chromecast and Google home, but my TV is the only thing that loses connection after its been turned off for a couple hours. Does anyone have any solutions?

Xiaomi Mi Box Original or Xiaomi Mi Box S?

So, I recently completed my home theater setup and I found out that while my receiver (Onkyo TX-NR686) does indeed support Dolby Atmos and I have set up the height speakers for it, my TV does not have atmos passthrough. I did some research and found out that an Android TV Box would be my next best solution. As much as I wish I could get the Nvidia Shield, it's not within my budget but the Xiaomi Mi Box is though I'm not sure whether I should get the 2016 Mi Box 3 or the 2018 Mi Box S. I mainly intend to use it to play TrueHD/Atmos movies from my external hard drive but I may stream on it every once in a while.

Can you recommend me good android box?

Hello,

using Apple TV 4 for about 2 years. Now I want to buy another box to the another TV.

Thinking about android box but don't know which is really good.

Will use it only for watching movies/series from Synology NAS. Everything is Full HD or 4K.
And my ISP has android app for TV, so will use it too (maybe). Don't want settopbox.

I'm thinking about Xiaomi Mi TV Box S but there is no ethernet and I'm affraid 4K movies will not play fine without problems because of wifi.

Read about nVidia Shield (latest) but I think it's not for me. I'm not gamer :)

Wifi: have 2x Unifi AP AC Pro so this is ok.

Thank you for recommendations.

Controlling TV using Google Home

I received my Philips 65OLED804 yesterday. It has Android TV (I updated it to the latest version) and I have found a setting that said "Switch on with Chromecast" that allows the TV to be switched on from a Chromecast app on my phone. But when I tell my Google Home to turn on the tv it just registers the command and does nothing. When I ask to play a show from Netflix on the tv it says that it's going to play and right after that it says that Google Home doesn't support Android TV yet. Is there anything I can setup to make it more compatible with Google Home?

Having trouble casting on shield TV 2019? look here

Hey guys,

I've been having trouble casting on my Nvidia shield 2019 and I finally found a solution.

What I had to do was uninstall and reinstall the Chromecast built-in app from the Google play store and that resolved the issue.

I figured this out after having no success whith clearing the Chromecast cache, restarting my router, and restarting my Nvidia shield.

Looking for advice

Hi. I have a Sony smart TV that does not have a browser, Gmail access, etc. I was reading up and came into a conclusion that buying an Android TV device would be a good bet. Something under $100 that I could plug into hdmi port and perhaps use a wireless keyboard and mouse to browse around. Any thoughts?
