So recently I bought a Philips Ambilight TV, which is compatible with Alexa. TV's set up perfectly, everything's working, updated to latest software. But the problem is that I just can't find the skill for it in the alexa app. I looked up the issue and a lot of people seem to have this problem. I am from Hungary, so I changed my locations all to United Kingdom ones, because they say that the skill is only available there for some reason. Still can't find it. Tried the skill's link, enabled it, but on my account it doesn't show and it doesn't appear on the skills page either (of course I'm using the same account everywhere). Has everything changed or has anyone come up with a fix to this since the other reddit post was written? Literally tried everything I could and still no success. Without the skill I obviously can't control the TV, that would be the whole point of having an Alexa compatible TV but what are we supposed to do when the most important "ingredient" (the skill itself) is missing? Hoping that there is a fix.

I recently got a budget android tv iffalcon 40f2a, a subsidiary of TCL in India. I have a huge library of h265 videos, the default video player that comes out the box, plays the content without any issues, but none of the other apps like Plex, kodi, or archos is playing 1080p x265 videos. Should I change any settings? It is clear that HW support is present for x265. I have no clue on how to fix this. Your suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

I tried watching Onwards on my LG OLED B8 and when I try to watch Onwards with Dolby Vision I get a black screen with audio but with HDR10 I get picture and audio like normal. Does anyone else have this issue

I've got a Xiaomi Mi Box 3 (Android 8) at my parents' house and I would like to be able to control it remotely.

I installed AnyDesk, but I can only visualize the screen without any possibility to perform any action: every time it tells me I need to activate the overlay for AnyDesk, but I can't find this option anywhere (I also did the trick to become a developer but with no results).

Could you please help me with this matter, either by telling me how to activate overlay for AnyDesk or suggesting another remote control application?

I've tried numerous forums without any answer. I've tried sideloading split screen apps which haven't helped, I'm wondering if this has been disabled in the OS by Philips.

I'm having issues cloning my Kodi 18.4 build from my 2017 Shield to MIBOX3.

I am copying the .Kodi folder and then overwriting the entire .Kodi folder on the MIBOX.

It does not seem to work. Zero notable change to the MIBOX3 Kodi. I tried a fresh install of Kodi on the MI and still nothing.

I'm copying using a usb stick but it does say I am unable to write to the device due to the android file structure. Am understanding that to mean only that I cannot write from the MIBOX3 TO the usb or does this mean I cannot write from the usb, TO the MIBOX3.

And insight would be awesome.

Normally VLC on android TV worked fine with subtitles for streaming videos from my computer via shared folder. But passed week the subs wont load, i can search and find them but when I click the download button it just keeps spinning and doesnt load it..

Things i have tried to resolve this issue are deleting cookies and history, uninstall and reinstall but no luck..

What can I do sometimes?

Why is Android TV so hobbled, even the most basic things like a browser needs to be side loaded and hacked together?

The android assistant implementation is likewise useless, it can't even add a calendar entry and only gives Youtube returns on search queries. I'm on android 8, I'm not sure how much better 9 is.

Just noticed it tonight. Not sure when it first showed up but you can add XUMO to Live Channels. Just go to Channel sources in settings and scan the channels in.

as far as i know search result brings back youtube, emby, plex, netflix

i haven't seen prime video, hbo, disney+.

Hi, I have a ps4 controller. When I put it on bluetooth mode with my T9 android TV box it says paired. But then it doesn't do anything. I cant use it. The PS4 controller still has blue lights.

No problems with install button on ES File Explorer however, after I click install it says "for your security, your phone in not allowed to install unknown apps from this source." It then has an option to go to main mi box settings "install unknown apps". This area is greyed out and cannot be changed.

Hi I was wondering if someone could tell me if there is a way of turning off automatic voice typing without root? Or downgrading the app currently im using my nexus player also I use a Logitech k400 USB keyboard I never use voice to text gets annoying to type when using a physical keyboard

I got the nvidia shield 2019 and so far it works fast and well and generally happy with it. The only drawback is that the machine itself is pretty locked down as far as adding apps that aren't in the store etc. I don't want some cheap knockoff box android box thats sluggish and never updated. A polished one that works as well as the shield. One that lets me add apks as i wish and access the full app store. I know you can sideload but on the shield its a pain and need to deal with app compatibility issues,etc. I figure I'd get a regular android box to supplement it
