Restore Kodi from Shield ('17) to MIBOX3 - issue.

by Notyourdingo

I'm having issues cloning my Kodi 18.4 build from my 2017 Shield to MIBOX3.

I am copying the .Kodi folder and then overwriting the entire .Kodi folder on the MIBOX.

It does not seem to work. Zero notable change to the MIBOX3 Kodi. I tried a fresh install of Kodi on the MI and still nothing.

I'm copying using a usb stick but it does say I am unable to write to the device due to the android file structure. Am understanding that to mean only that I cannot write from the MIBOX3 TO the usb or does this mean I cannot write from the usb, TO the MIBOX3.

And insight would be awesome.

I use the X-Plore apk on my Mi Box to move files to it from my PC. I too have a 2017 Shield and I can access it from my PC. So I would copy/paste the .kodi file on my Shield to the PC Then via X-Plore, delete the contents of the .kodi folder on the Mi Box and then drag and drop the contents of the .kodi folder on my PC to the Mi Box.

In X-Plore it is called WiFi File sharing which you 'turn on' and then access the Mi Box from your PC's web browser.

Usually you have to pay for X-Plore but via a good search engine on your PC you may find an appropriate version to install onto your Mi Box via a USB. You may have to download a basic free file explorer from google Play as well to install X-Plore from a USB stick.

Got it working the X-Plore gdrive upload. Took forever but had nothing but time anyways.

What are the bare minimum subfolders to back up if I want add-ons , accounts (real debrid for instance) and setup like home screen.

Where are the File with the repo addresses/zip to install from if I've set them up?

I've previously just copied the addondata folder and addons27.db but don't seem to get all of what I'm wanting.

Use google drive or other cloud service which is not filesystem dependent.
