Best Controller for NES/SNES/Genesis ?

by Aero82

I'm looking to start some emulation on my Shield Pro and would like to get a pair of controllers. What's recommended for old school NES/SNES and Sega Genesis? Is there a community favorite?

if you have a PS3, use the PS3 controller

I have the 8bitdo sn30 pro, it's great, wireless, and portable

the sn30 pro+ is also great if you want to have the handles. I've tried my friend's, but it felt a bit weird to me, I think the triggers' are a bit too "mushy" for me personally

I concur. 8bitdo all the way. I have the snes and 6 button genesis one. Great controllers.

IMHO, the best controller is the one you have. PS4, wired XB360, and more recent XB1 controllers will work on the Shield with no modifications or adapters needed, you can use wireless XB360 controllers on Shield with one of the USB adapters MS made for PCs, and companies like Mayflash make a variety of adapters for other console controllers.

If you don't have any of those on hand, people around here love the 8BitDo controllers. They also do a Genesis style controller, which is good as not all Genesis games adapt well to the modern controller diamond-button layout.

I have the 8BitDo SN30 Pro+ and love it.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! 8bitdo it is. I'm getting a pair of m30's and a pair of sn30 pro's.

My 5yo son recently saw the Sonic movie and is itching to play the games. I'm super excited to have a retro adventure with him.
