Hi I was wondering if someone could tell me if there is a way of turning off automatic voice typing without root? Or downgrading the app currently im using my nexus player also I use a Logitech k400 USB keyboard I never use voice to text gets annoying to type when using a physical keyboard
It is. It's hidden in the android settings. My Phillips TV had it on by default. And I got it turned off.. But can't remember exactly how I did, but can check in the morning.
I don't have a Nexus player so I don't know what settings you have. Two things to look for though.
On an Android phone or tablet runing 8.0, that setting is under Language and Keyboards. So see if you have any settings like that. I don't see it on my Shield TV but a Nexus player may have different settings.
Look under Accessibility settings. That is where options for people with various disabilities are.
Maybe try the app below "External Keyboard Helper", the demo version is plenty, it's a big help when using a external USB or BT keyboard, you can force hide the onscreen kb etc:

It's definitely possible (on shield tv) because it is disabled for me, but I can't say for sure how I did it. I have disabled a lot of the pre-installed system apps related to Google search and assistant / "ok Google" since I have no need for those on my TV. I think some combination of those are also responsible for voice typing.
