How can I stop this? It just adds trending, covid, and #stayhome with no approval or intervention.

Apologies in advance is this is a dumb question.

We just bought a Smart TV. So far, I'm not impressed. (Note: I live outside the USA; electronics here are both poorer quality and more expensive than what you may be accustomed to.)

The TV runs Android 7 and has the Aptoide TV app store. To my (naive?) surprise, the store has plenty of apps but the versions it has are so old that they are almost unusable, or are already unusable. For example, a movie app I want-- MUBI-- is in the store, but the version the store has is from 2015. It's too old to work and it can't be updated. Same story with Firefox for TV browser, but that one is from 2013! So far, the most recent app I've seen in there is from 2018.

Is this problem typical of Android TVs? Or is it the Androide app store that's the problem? Is there a setting that needs to changed somewhere? Etc.

(I know sideloading is a thing. I'm wondering if there's something else I can/should do trying that.)

Is anyone experiencing Youtube account always getting logged out when the TV goes on sleep?

Going to accounts and pressing "log in" again doesn't do anything

I'm finding that I have to restart the TV every time it goes to sleep just so I could log in to Youtube.

Well, guys I have had my mi box s for over a year, Everything works fine however when I let it rest and push a button to wake up the mi box after 8 - 6 hours The mi box s shows youtube app or the last app I used and when I press the power button sometimes the home page goes dark but I can hear the sound when you moved the apps....any solution?

I have a Philip's 43PUS6501 with the latest firmware. As of about a week or so ago, I can't use the settings button on my remote anymore while casting. It works fine in every other app, and it used to work fine while casting too. I used it a lot because I cast music from soundcloud and then use the settings menu to turn off the screen. So far I've tested it with Soundcloud, YouTube and Spotify, all three with the same results.

Anyone who has the same problem? Or maybe even a solution?

EDIT (SOLUTION): Go to your app settings and uninstall updates for the app called "Chromecast built-in". Works like a charm now :). Thanks to u/WasedaWalker for pointing me in the right direction in the comments.

Looking for this app from new tivo 4k stick

So I bought the mi box in December, and I haven't really used it because if I want to watch some else on the tv I have to unplug the power else it will keep changing the TV to HDMI 1.

Any ideas? I did the latest update but still the same.

I'm not a fan of how when you cast to YouTube, it hijacks the entire device to open the Chromecast built in app. For example, you can't connect to the Android TV (mibox, shield, they all do it) while you're watching a different video. On my LG Smart TV it will just pop up that I connected, leaving the current video playing. Between this, and the remote becoming almost useless, only recently getting FF/RW/pause functionality... seriously?? If you disable Chromecast Built In it will cast to the YouTube app, but I still like to be able to cast other things. Is this a crazy request?

Edit: here's the scenario. You and a few of your friends are watching YouTube on the TV. You picked a video to watch with the TV remote. Half way though that video one of your friends wants to queue up a different video, so they connect (from the YouTube app on his phone, cast to the TV) but boom, instead of a little subtle banner that says "John's Pixel has connected", it completely boots you from the YouTube app to open that stupid "waiting to cast" YouTube screen.

Alright, so a friend had some trouble with his TV and we decided to go into the System Recovery Mode and choose the "wipe data/factory reset" option.

Now when we reboot it it will always go into the System Recovery Mode. How and what did we screw up?

I play music videos on my nvidia shield, the YouTube app does not have the ability to shuffle playlists, but you can cast and shuffle, however, the YouTube app shuffle is terrible. It shuffles the 20ish most recent videos on your playlist. I have tried NewPipe which is nice and can shuffle but still has the same issue as the normal YouTube does. I would prefer to not cast, the YouTube music app actually does shuffle playlists normally, but some videos are unavailable and sometimes I have issues where for some reason the cast stops. If anyone has any recommendations thank you!

This happens at least once or twice a week. I've uninstalled, reinstalled, cleared cache, force quit, and when it's acting up nothing will get it to work shot of restarting the tv itself. When it does this, YTTV launches, and the home is displayed but it will not take any inputs. I can go back home on the TV but that's about it...

Has anyone else figured out a fix for this? I'd rather not have to factory reset the TV if I can avoid that...

Signed up on nvidia's website to be alerted when the pro model was back in stock. On 5/12, got the email they are back in stock and first come first serve. Check the website and it's still not in stock. Keep checking and no stock showing up.

Best Buy however is randomly showing you can add it to cart and out of stock. I managed to add it to my cart on the 13th and pay for it. However, it's still being processed.

Just now I got an email from Best Buy saying my new fulfillment date for shipping is set for October 24, 2019. Yes the date is correct. They went back in time to ship it to me. So I lost faith in Best Buy getting me the shield.

Is there any place that has the shield for the $199 price tag? The official website still says out of stock and if you sign up for the auto notify, you get an email about an hour later saying it's in stock again. Newegg and Amazon it never went in stock. Just Best Buy allowed it for sale and it's going out of stock at random times so you might not see if for sale if you check right now.

when i connect my HDD into the box the default file browser of the android says that there is only X amount of available space and nothing else . do i need a specific file explorer for it ? i've read about ES File explorer how i can install it since its not on play store ?

I currently have a TCL 55 p6 series tv.

The tv is connected to my google home and I use my google nest to control the tv.

The command to turn the tv off works fine and it will also turn it back on provided it’s within 30 seconds of switching it off. If I leave the tv off for a minute and try “hey google, turn bedroom tv on” it’ll say “Turning tv on” but nothing happens? I have instant power enabled on my android settings. Any ideas?

After a few hours of tests, my initial impression is, I'm impressed. My expectation was simply for a better device than the Mibox S and it easily met that expectation. The device feels somehow more powerful, more satisfying to navigate around. It could be because the remote is so good. Whatever bump in processor speed the Tivo has is making a difference between the two.

The major issues I've seen so far, Plex and Emby both exhibit a black flashing during playback. Emby will not pass-through any surround sound audio. Vudu, Fandango Now, Movies Anywhere apps do not support 4K HDR on the device. All this seems like stuff that app updates can fix.

I think this device has great potential as a mid-level Android TV device. It's all about support of course.

I recent bought a Hisense 4K Android TV, and I'm beginning to notice some considerable delay/lag on input from the remote. It can sometimes take nearly a minute, or repeated presses, to go to the home screen, back out of a video, etc. Is this a common problem? Is there anything I can do to mitigate the issue?
