Though I have Netflix, Prime and Disney+ services enabled in settings, the 'Continue Watching' list populated with just a couple of random Netflix titles when I first set it up and hasn't updated at all since then. Google Movies & TV titles appear there, but nothing else.

Is the expectation that any title you start in supported services should appear here? Because that doesn't seem to be happening for me. Also I can't seem to remove anything from this list either.

I just got chromecast with google tv, installed firefox but cannot figure out how to pin tabs. I guess this is the limitation of the remote that google tv provides but I'm not sure. Anyone knows how to do this?

I keep having to remove and replace the batteries in my remote.

Using the stock remote that ships with the new Chromecast with Google TV, and while on the first day it was totally fine, few days later the remote keeps losing its connection with the chromecast.

So far, the quick fix has been removing the batteries for a moment and putting them back in, but that only works temporarily.

Has anyone found a lasting fix for this? Or is everyone just pairing third party remotes? If so, recommendations?

I mostly watch youtube videos on my android tv, and I didn't mind an add once in a while at the start of a video, that I could skip after 5s, but it seems yt increased the adds lately? Since I've been getting adds in the middle of videos, which is simply getting annoying.

Isn't there any way to block these adds, or another app where I can watch yt videos without adds?

I know there are alternate yt apps for mobile, but I don't know if those are trustworthy for an android tv.

So I bought a new Sanyo kaizen android Tv this week and came across this app store called Aptoide TV. and wanted to sideload it. I made a mistake while sideloading. Instead of installing the AptoideTV app, I installed the Aptoide app (made for mobiles).

Now, my TV just doesn't show this app anywhere but it is visible through sideload launcher (Another app used to launch sideloaded apps). I want to uninstall this Aptoide app.
How can I uninstall it?? I can't see the app in settings/apps nor on the home screen. It is only visible in sideload launcher.

I have a problem with the remote control from the new Chromecast Google TV:

I connected the TV Input button with my TV, the button works. I can switch through my TV Inputs, for example HDMI1, HDMI2 and HDMI3.

But my HiSense TV is stupid, it wants an OK Button to switch to the Input source. And the CCGT remote has no ok button.

All I need is an OK button for accepting the channel switch! It would be great, one remote less. :)

Has someone similar problems and knows what to do?

Dynamic range switching. It's fast. Like crazy fast. I've been using an appletv 4k pretty much since release, and it's widely considered one of the best streaming devices on the market. And yet ... when your source media switches dynamic range between sdr, hdr 10, and DV the screen goes blank for 10 seconds or more. This is common on other devices as well (I've observed it on roku and firetv). On the new google tv however dynamic range switching is nearly instantaneous meaning less time spent waiting for content to display and more time spent watching. It's a little thing, but it's imminently noticeable. It's the kind of difference that's so glaring it makes you wonder how other manufacturers have failed so thoroughly in this regard.

What do you guys think? Any features or performance quirks that you've noticed/love?

hey im buying an android Box for iptv only, i dont have netflix or any other subscription i only need IPTV, my provider is already good but the box that i have has only 128mb of ram and is very laggy.

Mibox seems like a good option for 50 bucks and then maybe a year or two later get a shield 2021 or something new.

google TV in my country is 70 so more expensive than mibox

I have tried multiple apps: kodi, vlc, mx player but H.265 either stutters or crashes the app. Any insight on wether the new Google Tv supports HEVC? Or which codecs it does support?

SOLUTION: So turns out in kodi I had audio passthrough enabled and DTS was enabled. Which I had to disable. It was causing my issues. Out of luck it seems I was streaming all DTS audio files. Dolby digital and dolby digital plus files work fine with audio passthrough. But not DTS. Hopefully this helps others. H.265 4k works just fine now.

I find it odd the fox app doesn’t let you watch 4K football without a roku or firestick. Is there any work around to watch NFL in 4k without those devices?

a friend of mine bricked is 2017 Sony Model (X900e) during the recent update. It seems to be stuck in recovery mode (Android on its back with error sign).

I'm pretty familiar with Android for phones and flashing, but can't gather all the answers i need after 2 hours of research.

• Might a USB-A to A cable let me connect the TV in this mode to my PC, given this really is recovery mode? Fastboot doesn't seem to work on Sony TV's.
• Sonys firmware files are pkg's and encrypted, so flashing them through recovery might be impossible?
• Any other tips on how to revive the TV?

UPDATE:

TL:DR MiXplorer can read exFAT drives via its OTG driver but videos suffer from extreme stuttering. I was not able to access drives formatted as ext3 or ext4 via the same MiXplorer OTG drivers.

I formatted to ext3 and while MiXplorer would ask permission to mount the drive it would return an error after permission was granted. Note that drives formatted by the CCwGTV under System>Storage are formatted to FAT32 no matter what format you begin with. For example, I re-formatted the ext3 drive in the CCwGTV and the CCwGTV changed it to FAT32.

ORIGINAL POST: Hi. I'm new to Android TV and would appreciate any help you can provide. I've read through posts mentioning external storage attached via USB for media playback but can't seem to get the CCwGTV to recognize drives formatted to anything other than FAT32.

Steps I've taken:

1. Format drive from exFAT to FAT32
2. Attach drive to CCwGTV and format to Internal Storage
3. Format to Removable Media (CCwGTV seems to require that the drive first be formatted as Internal Storage)
4. CCwGTV formats drive to FAT32

Also tried this:

1. Format drive to EXT4 using EaseUS in Windows 10
2. CCwGTV shows the drive under System>Storage but the drive is not available for playback unless I format it (which then formats it to FAT32)

Has anyone been able to attach a drive formatted to EXT4 and play local media with file sizes greater than 4GB? I have enabled Developer Mode and switched to MTP and I've tried accessing EXT4 formatted drives via USB OTG in X-Plore File Manager, MiXplorer, and directly in VLC and Kodi with no luck.

Hi. I'm migrating from my Shield to Chromecast with Google TV, and I've noticed that the version of YouTube on Google TV reflects the prior navigation system.

And, as an aside, I also notice that YouTube TV on Google TV is missing the "switch accounts" feature in the settings menu!

What's up with Google TV having different/older versions of apps that Android TV has? Isn't it all just Android TV behind the scenes?

PS- I think it's time for the GoogleTV subreddit to co-exist given these differences, don't you think?

For example, I paid for and installed Photo Gallery & Screensaver on my Shield.... Paid for the full versions....

The Screensaver is what I'd like tech/dev support on, but there is no such option on the Android TV Playstore.... And the app is not found on the Playstore on my phone.... There is an email address, but after sending repeated emails, I have not heard back from the dev at all......
