The apk won't work on Google TV chromecast, but they have an app on Sony smart TV which runs on android. Is it possible to get the apk from the Sony TV to see if it'd work in a chromecast with Google TV? Thank you.

What are the alternatives for VLC Player if you want to Chromecast?

I am having lots of bugs with VLC and chromecasting movies onto my Android TV. I understand that Chromecast is still a buggy mess, having experienced bugs all over in Chrome, Youtube App, VLC and Android TV. Maybe one of you has tamed the bugfest and/or knows a good Video Player whose Chromecast feature works better than VLC. I'm interested in free as well as paid Software.

I just found a free player, that is super simple and works great! Additionally my remote control of chromecast works with this one. It never worked with VLC.

Nest audio to tv ? Bluetooth issues or better way?

Hi all,

Looking for some advice around connecting my new fancy Nest speakers to the tv. Running into some issues- I have a Philips Android tv - PUS7181 . I have been able to connect via bluetooth but the bluetooth is slow and behind the video. Checked into some audio delay settings but not been able to get very far with this. Any suggestions? I was thinking if I could include another sound bar and connect that with my living room pair to have a direct sound connection to the tv. Any suggestions would be appreciated .

Side loading FB messenger onto Android TV9

Hi!

I'm trying to get Facebook messenger to work on Android TV to recreate their portal functionality (I have a webcam that works with Google duo on the Android TV). My TV is a Phillips 50PUS9005/12 which uses Android TV version 9 for the OS. Google duo was pre-installed, but other video calling apps aren't in the app store.

I used "Files to TV" to send apks to my Philips Android TV and then try to run the APK via File Commander. The file opens and I can choose install but the install fails. I chose apks (from apk mirror) that were marked as ARMv8A 64bit as that matches the processor info I could find for the TV.

Is there a way to determine if an APK will run or a list of working versions compatible with Android TV for common apps?

Ultimately I'd like to add messenger, WhatsApp and zoom to my TV.

Using Ethernet instead of wifi makes Netflix change server, making it so much slower.

So we have couple of AndroidTV in our house, both does that.
Tested using FAST test: Ethernet: tops at 9-15Mbit. Movies and shows can't get to 2160p or 1440p unlike wifi. Wifi: 50-60Mbit. Ethernet real speed (Tested with speedtest): 100Mbit.

All other apps runs just fine on Ethernet, anyone having this issue too?

YouTube subscriptions channel not updating

I’ve noticed that the Subscriptions YouTube channel on my home screen hasn’t updated in days. Opening the actual app and going to the subscriptions page confirms this.

Does anybody know how to fix this?

I’m using a Sony XG9005 running Android 8.0.0.

Philips TV Airplay

I’m not sure if anyone else has noticed, but the patch notes for the latest version of the Philips Sound/DTS PlayFi app say “Philips TV and Speaker products now support Pandora and AirPlay”. My TV got the PlayFi update a few months ago which I did, and I checked today and noticed I had a new update available for the TV which I have done, so my TV is completely up to date. However, it still does not show up as an AirPlay device on my phone, which it should do according to the help section of the Play-Fi app.

Has anyone managed to get this working with their Philips TV? My TV model is the 43PUS7334

Chromecast Google TV CONSTANT freezing up

On our main tv, the Chromecast Google TV keeps freezing, and the picture quality can be horrible. Watching the "Stats for Nerds" connection speed - can go from over 80,000 Kbps to 300. Insane.

We have Google Mesh wi-fi and the TV and dongle are within 20' of TWO different routers. The wi-fi is attached to a very stable 300 Mbps fiber optic cable.

Just about had it with this terrible quality. By the way, this is the second dongle I have installed on this TV - the first one was replaced under warranty.

Wireless 2.4gh controllers

Anybody know if 2.4Ghz wireless controllers work with Android TV? I want to stream games from my pc but don't wanna buy an expensive controller. Found one but it's not Bluetooth. Thanks for your help

Using keyboard in apps via android TV remote app sucks. Or to say more clearly does not work at all.

I got an android TV stick (also have tried this on some other android TV systems) when I search on anddoid TV apps its a chore navigating the keyboard. The android TV remote app offers a keyboard which does absolutely nothing when you want to take advantage of your smartphone keyboard. It works wonderfully while in home screen. But that's it.

Dolby vision and Dolby Atmos on new Google tv

Hi everyone,

To all those of you that have bought the new Google have you guys had issues with getting Dolby Atmos to work properly? I'm looking for two specific things to work on my soundbar which is Dolby Atmos enabled and if possible my TV but I'm not sure if that supports Dolby vision period so I'm using an LG sk8y soundbar and the Dolby Atmos works fine through Netflix because the logo pops up and I know I'm getting that full immersive experience, but I'm also subscribed to Disney plus and I know I should be getting at most through there but instead it sometimes just pops up as 5.1 channel surround sound I was hoping to get those settled in right away but I'm running into more issues than I can fix I'm wondering if anyone here has a solution to that and if anyone uses Tidal, how do you get at most to work on that music streaming service considering about the notification that my soundbar and app are compatible with it and it'll play Dolby Atmos but I don't have any sound and yes I'm using an HDMI ARC connection and have everything in the sound bar and TV set to auto so I know for a fact I'm getting it in Netflix but as far as title and Disney plus is concerned I'm not sure what to do. Also these are the two specific model numbers and TV I'm using for my setup:

Tv: lg um6910pua Soundbar: LG sk8y with rear speaker kit.

Was looking for the easiest way to change the stock launcher on the new Chromecast with Google TV. The button mapper process works but that then causes issues with certain apps and also needs a manual start after every reboot.

Manual steps

 

  • Install a compatible custom launcher, e.g Wolf For CCGTV Or ATV Launcher etc.
  • Ensure you have enabled ADB Debugging
  • Use your favourite ADB client to connect to your CCGTV (Eg Remote ADB Shell)
  • Issue the following commands
  • pm disable-user --user 0 com.google.android.apps.tv.launcherx
  • pm disable-user --user 0 com.google.android.tungsten.setupwraith
  • Press the home key and you will see a prompt asking you to select your launcher. Select your custom launcher and click OK.

Restart Video on Google TV

I'm trying to figure out how to restart a movie on my Chromecast with Google TV.

The film is in my library as it was purchased through Play Movies so it plays directly from the film info screen.

I see no options to restart the movie. The only option to do this is to literally sit and hold the rewind button.

Am I losing my mind or did Google not implement a UI option to restart a video?

No "FOR YOU" Section on Google TV

As the title says, I don't have a "For You" section on my Chromecast with Google TV and the assistant only shows Netflix as a search options, I also can't see the improve recomendations at the end of the main page and there's no wallpaper, only a grey/black background.

I'm in Argentina so no ideal location but still, any chance to fix this or arte this features bound to only US customers?

I have Prime Video with a subscription and will soon have Disney+ too..

Install regular android apps on Chromecast google TV

I remember on my old android tv device there was an app like the playstore to download android apps. Then i could install them en load them with sideloader. Now if i search for sideloading apps on Chromecast i only find tutorials with downloader app, which is like a browser where i have to find sites with the apk's. But its hard to navigate and actually find and download. Am i missing something?

Removing bloatware crashing Tv (Nokia) with Adb

I'm trying to uninstall/remove built-in and system apps (YouTube, Netflix, Google music etc)

adb shell uninstall ... removing the apps but it's making my TV crashed and remote buttons not working. Somehow I opened Google play and opened settings and did reset. But anyone here faced this problem?

Hi Redditors over here!

Can you help me to find Android for tv apps with the theme mysterious/disappearances/true crime?

Since yesterday I have a chromecast so I can stream YouTube on my tv and I can also download android for tv apps on google play.

Now I have “Law & Crime” but for some reason I can’t connect, I also have “Magellan tv”witch seems to have good documentaries and I have “full moon” but that’s not really my thing.

So can you please help me guys with new apps for Android tv about mysteries and true crime? Just something more to make me an extremely addicted true crime fan 😃.
