[CCWGT] Chromecast w/ Google TV - lower-than-content frame rate on Amazon Prime Video?

Apologies if this is been a commonly asked question but I have done some digging and still can't seem to find something that quite matches this, therefore just wanted to get people's view before I probably have to return the product as this is a bit too annoying an issue vs. the Fire TV stick 4K I now have which doesn't have this issue at all

So I got my CCWGT few days ago, and have been watching the tennis ATP World Tour Finals on Amazon Prime Video, and noticed that the frame rate just isn't high enough to the extent that you can see the ball "travels in discrete frames, not continuous motions" making it almost impossible to watch. Wondering if this is to do with my CCWGT setting, my Amazon Prime setting (doesn't seem to be), or a device design problem?

Any advice appreciated!

(Would this be a potential problem for Apple TV or the Shield btw? Eyeing these two potentially if CCWGT is a pass and if I spot a deal over Christmas period)

Remove 'Android TV Operator Tier' off the launcher

[Solved] I bought an set top box my operator provided, and now I'm not just stuck with their bloats. My home screen has their app locked on top of favorite apps and rows. Also the backdrop has their logo on it. My home screen looks exactly like the screenshot below(by 9to5gg)

I used AIDA64 to check and it says my STB was made by SDMC with a feature called 'com.google.android.tv.operator_tier'.

Please help me if you can!

Any word on why Netflix has disappeared from the Google TV app?

Just noticed this today myself. Seems like others have as well but I can't find any real news or word from Google about it. Do we have any idea if it's a bug or if they're actually removing Netflix? I really hope it's not the latter - that would be incredibly disappointing.

Formuler GTV Review

So I have had the pleasure of testing the GTV for some time now.

I gotta say, I love it.. I also have all of formulers old boxes, Sheild, and roku devices so that is what I am comparing to.

As Formuler's first box with Android TV OS I mean its similar to many other boxes I have tested except for a few big factors for me.

This thing is made for IPTV / OTA TV (OTA still in the works to add tuner card driver support) watching IPTV on a shield just isn't the same as having MyTVOnline2, and a proper full TV remote with google voice. Formulers MyTVOnline 2, which is baked into the device, is IMHO the best IPTV client out there, It supports , XC , M3U, Stalker portals and OTA (future update on GTV). this puts all your VOD and Live tv in one simple to use client so easy to use its kid and grandpa approved... Now that its Android TV it enables proper support for Most Official provider apps found on the play store.

GeForce now also works fine with Fortnite and a PS4 controller

Disney, Amazon , Global , HBO, and Canadas other major provider apps all work great. Have tested dozens of other worldwide major apps and they all work great.

Netflix is still not certified but it is in the play store, I guess the more people with Netflix that open a ticket with Netflix to ask why its not working, maybe that wont always be the way.

Formuler constantly updates all the boxes they sell.. even boxes 4 generations old still get important updates and all current boxes are often receiving new updates and features every few months. Even the included BT1 remote has upgradable firmware that has already seen some new features added since launch. Expect this box to be future proof as it will receive Major OS updates in time as well as all of Formuler's own updates/

There is a great support structure through the forum, website r/formuler and telegram which I voluntarily admin, it is really a great community and Formuler really listens to everyone's input or support issue or ideas.

I will say I was not asked to write this review. I am probably biased , Ill admit, but I do like testing everything out there and I really think this one is a winner.

Issues with various video/streaming apps on SONIQ A-Series 43" Full HD Android TV

Device: SONIQ A-Series 43" Full HD Android TV
Mode: G43FW60A
Purchased: Sep 30, 2020

Hey r/AndroidTV

My wife and I are having some issues with our Android TV that we purchased not too long ago. I know Reddit isn't really a place to ask for tech support, but given there are vast number of Android TV enabled devices, I wanted to see if there was any commonality between them with the issues outlined below, and if there's any more permanent solutions beyond "clear data/cache".

There are a couple problematic apps.

YouTube - After a while of use, the app fails to load new videos (video is black, with no title or details) until both the cache and data are cleared, forcing us to sign back in again.

Disney+ - Periodically will buffer until it says there's a connection issue, and refuses to load content until the TV is fully restarted. It seems to happen approximately 30 minutes after playback begins.

If there's any other information I can supply, please let me know.

Chromecast with google TV & HDR Tonemapping

I'm wondering if the new Google TV supports HDR -> SDR Tonemapping (when direct streaming from PLEX for example), and if so, how can it be enabled?

I've been reading that there are other devices that can do this (i.e. Shield) and was wondering if this can also be done by the Google TV.

Thanks in advance

Refresh rate switching on non-shield devices (Dynalink, Tivo, etc)?

I recently picked up the Dynalink box that appears to be based on the ADT-3. It's working great so far except that it doesn't seem to support refresh rate switching. I know auto refresh-rate switching is an issue across all android TV devices, and Shield devices have an app available to manually set refresh rates for apps that don't support auto-switching (e.g., most apps other than Kodi). The Dynalink box doesn't even support refresh-rate switching on Kodi or Nova Player. This may be related to the same problem causing it to always be stuck in HDR mode. Does anyone know of a workaround?

Strange Mibox YouTube issue.

Really strange issue. I have an android TV Mibox and when trying to play live videos on YouTube app, the video appears normal for a couple of seconds and then changes to a screen like this. Sound continues to function perfectly. I uninstalled YouTube, deleted data, resigned in, and even went so far as to factory reset the device. Nothing gives. Regular YouTube videos that aren't live seem to work fine. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks in advance.

Verizon Stream TV and Vizio M586X - No Sound

Just got a new (M586X) tv, moving from an old Sansui SLED3900. I've been using the Stream TV sucessfully with the older Sansui all summer, and after simply swapping over to the newer Vizio, sound does not work.

I've exhausted every audio setting I can think of but can't get sound to come out. Odd thing is, the music (starts with fluuid water sounds) when pairing the remote will play normally, but as soon as I exit the pairing tool sound stops working. Has anyone dealt with anything like this? I know it's a relatively new device but would appreciate any insight.

UPDATE: There's probably some audio setting that causes the Stream TV and Vizio to not play nice with eachother. I ended up purchasing a Chromecast w/ Google TV and it works as intended. I'll keep playing with the Stream TV and will update if I figure it out.

UPDATE 2: Same issue with the Chromecast. Sound doesn't work unless I perform a factory reset of the TV. Pretty unusual so I'm just going to return it. Can't recommend the TV with this issue being replicated so easily.

CCwGTV Watchlist and Netflix

Once I add a Netflix Original show or movie to to the GTV Watchlist under the Library tab, I can't do any else with it. There's a thing I added but couldn't watch more than a couple minutes of it. I want to remove from the GTV watchlist, or at least mark it as Watched, but I keep getting a error saying I can't do that for Netflix Originals on GTV. Is this a bug or am I missing something?

Would also nice to be able to re-order the items on the list.

TCL Android TV Buffering Help Please

Hey everyone, I couldn’t find any answers on Google so I hope I can get some help on here. I recently bought a 65 inch TCL Android Smart TV 4K HDR, etc. Previously, I used a TCL ROKU tv 50 inch. I watch all of my live tv through streaming apps with a TV provider log in. On this new Android tv, almost everything buffers when I’m watching live. For example, ESPN, CBS, FOX, almost everything. To compare, my old 50 inch roku NEVER buffered at all. It worked perfect. All of my others TVs in the house never buffer either. I even have the 65 inch plugged in via Ethernet, and judging by the past I don’t believe my internet is the issue, because all of my others TVs work fine. Any ideas on why this new tv buffers so much? Is it trying to play too high of a quality? Is the operating system junk? Can it not handle the streaming apps? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys

"Buying Cyberpunk 2077 on Stadia will get you a complimentary Stadia Premiere kit. This offer is running through December 17th or until supplies last. (Stadia unofficially supported on Android TV just sideload the latest Stadia APK or use Chromium and a game controller)

Google really wants you to buy Cyberpunk 2077 on Stadia — so much, in fact, that it’s giving away a Stadia Premiere kit to each person who preorders (or who has already preordered) the game on Stadia or buys it after launch until December 17th. The promotion runs “until supplies last,” though Google declined to say how many units it will be giving out.

The hardware bundle that usually costs $100 includes a white Stadia controller, a Chromecast Ultra, and, for new users, a one-month trial subscription to Stadia’s Pro-tier service. Stadia Pro includes 4K streaming and a growing collection of free games similar to Sony’s PlayStation Plus and Microsoft’s Xbox Live Gold subscription.

To redeem the deal, you’ll need a Stadia account, though you don’t need to be a paid subscriber. Then, head to Cyberpunk 2077’s product page and purchase the game. If you have a Stadia Pro subscription, you can save $10 on the game if you haven’t already used that promo.
