Disney+ isn’t compatible

I just picked up a TCL 55 inch Android TV from Best Buy. On the box, they list Disney+ as one of the channels it can stream. The app is already downloaded on my tv but when I click it, it says that it’s not compatible with this version. I’ve checked the updates on the tv and everything is up to date. Anyone have a fix for this? Thanks!

Google TV dropping Wifi connection about once per hour

Hi, my CCwGTV is dropping Wifi about once every hour on average or so. This REALLY sucks while in the middle of a Stadia game most of all... but I have confirmed it is also happening outside of stadia or any app really. I've seen it happen while idle on the menu.

Any others encounter this? Any tips? The GTV is about 2 feet from the wifi router on 5ghz

New ChromeCast with GTV Horrible Local 4k File Playback

I tried to play some 4k movies in Kodi and VLC player from my local network on the new CC and both apps were playing impossibly slowly. The whole interface almost freezes and it plays like a frame every few seconds, with messed up sound. The TV wasn't switching to HDR mode either.

Meanwhile, the system built into my Hisense TV was able to stream the same movies just fine, switching to HDR mode with the files that had it.

I tried turning off the 'adapt to content' option in the display settings, so that HDR is always on, and that didn't help. Also tried changing the interface resolution to 1080p and still nothing.

Any ideas?

Update: I tried 2.4ghz wifi, that didn't help I rebooted the Chromecast and suddenly it started working properly!

It's Time to Embrace Cloud Gaming, Especially GeForce Now

" Yet every single one of these platforms does cloud gaming in a different way. Each one is crafted for a different kind of user in mind, but right now none are as consumer-friendly as GeForce Now. Not only can you use it on PC, Mac, Android, iOS, Chromebook, and Shield (a media streaming device like Chromecast), but it’s free to use and it’s compatible with over 650 games that you might already own on Steam, Epic, GOG, or Ubisoft. "

" Stadia, Luna, and xCloud are all great, but I see them as the back-ups to GeForce Now. Their libraries are much smaller at the moment, and they all use subscription models that revoke access to your games once you stop paying. In the case of Luna ($6/month) and xCloud ($15/month with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate) your ability to access the cloud and play games on different devices goes when your subscription is up. Stadia does have individual games for purchase, but any games you get for “free” on its $10 a month Pro subscription tier disappear once your subscription is up. "

Dolby Atmos: Fire TV Stick/Cube vs Nvidia Shield?

I've heard depending on the device the amount of content supported in Dolby Atmos varies. I've got a few questions regarding this:

  1. Can anybody explain the differences if there are any?
  2. Does Atmos work with connected Bluetooth headphones?
  3. Is the Cube just a smoother running Stick with hands-free Alexa and Shield slightly more powerful than the Cube with AI upscaling and focus on game streaming?

Thank you!

Mi Box S + Twich APP

Hello guys!

When I am watching Twitch on my Mi Box S the streams is always having a bit of lag and some freezes (even after I press menu and get back to the official app).

What app are you guys using? I’ve searched and I found that it’s not only me so seems it’s app related

I'm trying app named "S0und" and it has only a few downloads and I'm afraid to use my login twitch to have my favourite streamers on the main menu.

Thank you for your time!

X800H ARC woes

I understand there has been some trouble getting ARC to operate correctly on this model, but the threads discussing this are about a year old so I'm praying theres been some development since.

I have the cabel plugged into the ARC jack on my tv, and that goes to the OUT jack on my Onkyo HT-R590. I set my ARC settings on my receiver, so I think it's all squared away on that end. But I still cant get any sound coming from my tv. I'm not sure if theres a setting I'm missing somewhere (it's not like this tv came with a manual), so is there any advice or troubleshooting you guys can walk me through?

TCL Android TV 5.1 through toslink/optical?

I picked up a TCL 4-series with Android TV during an early black Friday sale. I have a 5.1 system connected via toslink/optical (doesn't have HDMI input). The system supports dolby digital and DTS, but not dolby digital plus. So far, I've found that only Netflix outputs true 5.1 surround sound (i.e., converts DD+ to DD). Prime video and HBO Max both only put out stereo. This is regardless of what audio setting I use. If I set audio as "Auto" the apps send a fake 5.1 signal that is really just 2.0. If I set it as "passthrough" then it just sends a 2.0 signal. This seems to imply that only the Netflix app does DD+ to DD conversion, and the rest just revert to 2.0.

I've read that Nvidia shield, Mi Box, Fire stick, etc all do DD+ to DD conversion. I've also read that "newer" TVs usually support DD+ to DD conversion. Is there any way to enable this on the built-in Android OS?

UPDATE: I received one of the $30 Dynalink boxes and I'm getting 5.1 surround on Netflix, Prime, HBO, and NovaPlayer (with DD+ file). So the limitation does appear to be the TCL Android OS and not the apps themselves.

Google Assistant Commands won't play youtube videos anymore

I had some Google Assistant routines set up for playing specific YouTube videos on my SHIELD TV. However, I just noticed with my CC w/ Google TV they aren't working. Instead of playing the video, it just shows YouTube search results.

I've tried this with both "Watch [video title] on YouTube on TV" and "Play [video title] on YouTube on TV." Again, this used to work perfectly fine. Not sure what changed.

Need a decent midrange TV for watching movies offline

I have a habit of downloading movies/videos, and then watching them later offline. Not a big fan of 4k yet. Most important aspect is that I only care about streaming .mp4 .mkv etc. movies file formats flawlessly like I'm watching it on a cable TV. I don't stream content on Netflix, Plex, Kodi etc. online. I mostly just watch movies on my laptop and phone using players like VLC, MPC, MX player that pretty much fullfill all the needs.

Does any TV fullfill my need? I'm not looking for an expensive TV. A midrange TV should do that job since I don't want to stream online content which is what most people need. I only want to watch movies after having them transferred to the TV internal storage. Also, let me know if I'd be needing external boxes like Firestick or something.

By far, I think Android TVs are good as they have more features and allow you to install third party .apk files. But since I am planning to use it prolong time so it'll be good if it's durable. I have only had experience with CRT TVs by now so help me out guys.

There is a lot of confusion for me while deciding which TV to go for because first: this is my first time buying a smart TV and second: I mostly see reviews and discussions based on stuff like watching online content while my needs are pretty simple and not requiring those things.

TL:DR : Decent midrange TV(Android or not) for playing movies offline. Online content watching like Netflix, Amazon Prime etc. is not the priority.

Is shield TV actually THAT good?

Hey guys. So, I found awesome deal for 2017 Nvidia Shield (yes, I know 2019 is better because of dolby atmos/vision, however I use none of that and I am not sure if I will use them in near future, and prices in my region are atrocious). And I saw all the words of glory regarding this android box. But I wanted to know if it really is THAT good. I will mostly use ot for streaming content, such as Netflix, HBO, Kodi and Plex. Will everything run smoothly? Has anyone had any stuttering with this device? Note that I am coming from Xiaomi Mi Box S which is already showing it's age and I had it for less than a year.

Is the overall streaming service integration not working correctly for anyone else? (Google TV)

I've overall really enjoyed my time with the new chromecast, but I seriously am baffled at how half baked all the streaming service integration seems to me.

I've signed in with all of my accounts, yet under the continue watching tab Disney+ is the only one that actually shows up, and they're not even correct- I haven't watched The Mandalorian yet it says I'm on Episode 10. Shows from other streaming services are just gone. Additionally, I can't add any netflix originals to my watchlist, something I remember working shortly, and I'm not even sure if they actually appear on my for you page at all. I get recommended lots of things that require services I don't have, like HBO Max and Sling too. I've tried logging out and logging back in, reconnecting my services in the google home app, and restarting the chromecast to no avail. Anyone know what's up, or is this just classic google being google?
