[CCWGT] Chromecast w/ Google TV - lower-than-content frame rate on Amazon Prime Video?

by calvwf

Apologies if this is been a commonly asked question but I have done some digging and still can't seem to find something that quite matches this, therefore just wanted to get people's view before I probably have to return the product as this is a bit too annoying an issue vs. the Fire TV stick 4K I now have which doesn't have this issue at all

So I got my CCWGT few days ago, and have been watching the tennis ATP World Tour Finals on Amazon Prime Video, and noticed that the frame rate just isn't high enough to the extent that you can see the ball "travels in discrete frames, not continuous motions" making it almost impossible to watch. Wondering if this is to do with my CCWGT setting, my Amazon Prime setting (doesn't seem to be), or a device design problem?

Any advice appreciated!

(Would this be a potential problem for Apple TV or the Shield btw? Eyeing these two potentially if CCWGT is a pass and if I spot a deal over Christmas period)

Prime only uses 30fps on live sports content (at least on Roku, Apple TV, and Android TV). I haven't tested on a Fire Stick so it is possible they use 60fps on those devices. But it is one of the reasons I can never watch Thursday Night NFL games through Prime. It is unwatchable for me.

CCGTV does not support refresh rate matching. Shield, AFTV4K, or ATV would be more suitable for your needs.
