Remove 'Android TV Operator Tier' off the launcher

by dogthepro

[Solved] I bought an set top box my operator provided, and now I'm not just stuck with their bloats. My home screen has their app locked on top of favorite apps and rows. Also the backdrop has their logo on it. My home screen looks exactly like the screenshot below(by 9to5gg)

I used AIDA64 to check and it says my STB was made by SDMC with a feature called 'com.google.android.tv.operator_tier'.

Please help me if you can!

Some android devices had that, if you found the offending app, you might be able to disable it in the settings and reset to clear it

worked with my original mibox

Check the homescreen options. I saw option to show/hide channels like Google Movies, YouTube, Amazon. This WEcast option should be there to disable.

Otherwise you can try launchers like HAL Launcher. It doesn't have recommendations feature to show the list of videos/movies (To my knowledge). You can add all apps, custom background.

Maybe via adb you can remove some preinstalled stuff.

What's your pay TV provider ?
