TCL Android tv question

So I’ve used android in the past on phones and one of the great things was being able to quickly switch between running apps. But with this tcl android tv I find that if I accidentally hit the dedicated Netflix/YouTube button(which unfortunately happens way too often) I have to completely reload the previous app (ie HBOmax )over again. Is there a setting or something I’m not aware of or is this just android tv vs android phone os functionality?

Youtube app not working 2020 X950H

Hey everyone im having a issue playing videos from the youtube app onto my tv. When looking at the preview of the vid, it runs fine but when i select the video, nothing plays. The Ad doesnt even load up its just stuck on 0:00 secs. I tried connecting my phone and still frozen on screen although it shows the video is running from my phone. I tried uninstalling, clearing cache and restarting tv, no luck with anything. Please help!!

Far field voice control on TCL android TV?

So my boyfriend got me a TCL TV as an Xmas present. I only set it up a few days ago. It was advertised as having google assistant built in and compatible with animal Alexa. However, the voice control for my Amazon echo dot doesn’t work with it and neither does the integrated google assistant voice control. The google assistant voice control works using the MagiConnect app but I don’t think the remote that came with the TV has a microphone. When I try to activate far field voice control in the setting menu it just says “far field voice control currently unavailable”. I’m in the Republic of Ireland so I figure maybe a lot of the features advertised could be region locked, such as far field voice control and Freeview Play apps (All4 and BBC iPlayer). Has anyone else had this issue? And is it possible maybe to use a VPN to fix this? Thanks everyone. -One v tech clueless girlfriend

Hello, I have an xiaomi mi box s. I discovered that firetv stick costs half the price and offers the same features or app support. I actively use netflix, disney plus, amazon prime, chromecast.

Can someone please enlighten me about what advantages does android tv box like mi box offer that fire tv does not? Thanks.

Help - Hulu; black image but sound still works.

I set my parents up with a chromecast with google tv and Hulu live while visiting over the weekend.

Today my mom is having the issue described in title. Live TV works fine, only normal Hulu shows are doing this.
I have had my GTV since day 1 without a single issue, so im not sure where to start.

Looking for simple ideas i can tell her to try.

Buying an Android box. Where do I start?

Trying to get an android TV box to stream and emulate older consoles for cheap but with 4gb ram minimum. I have found the S905X3, S905X4 and s912. I think the s912 will perform poorly for my workload so its basically between the x4 and x3. I can get a x3 for £27 or get the x4 for £35. What is my best bet. AV1 support for 1080p 60fps would be nice and I also need Keyboard/Mouse support like with my s905x.

I’m looking into buying a JVC LT-43CA890. It’s an Android tv and I’m just wondering does anyone know would I be able to install wow presents plus and hayu on the tv as they’re apps I’d use the most? I know there is chromecast on the tv however my WiFi isn’t great for using chromecast and wanted to know if I can download the actual apps like on a fire tv. Can anyone help?

I don't own an android TV altough I wish to purchase.

I want to know for the popular distros (Mi Box, Sony etc) do you have latest Chrome browser and it supports PWA - progressive web apps?

I would check myself with ROM on PC but not sure from where to start - recommendation on that would be helpful as well.

why? because I want to develop a notification app (I know no shutter..) which is a PWA.

Chromecast google tv, short bluetooth?

Yesterday I thought it would be fun to play some emulators on my new chromecast with google tv. I set it all up and started up a game but the lag from my dualshock 4 made it unplayable.

My sofa is ~8ft from the tv, an lg oled c7, and the chromecast is hanging behind it. It worked great if I was standing behind the tv with my controller, but not from the sofa. I tried a dualshock 4 v1 & v2 with the v2 marginally better but still unplayable.

Is there something I could do to fix this?

Amazon Firestick 4k vs Google chromecast ultra vs Xiaomi Mi Box S 4k

As title says. Already own an Nvidia Shield Pro 2019 but looking for a box on a secondary TV and not break the bank.

Ideally, wanted a box with Ethernet, Android TV interface, ability to sideload apps and USB.

If these are the cost of the devices SHIPPED, what would you get and why? I'm thinking of the Amazon Stick 4k....

Google chromecast ultra - $100 to 100 shipped (no ethernet, no USB)
Xiaomi Mi Box S 4k - $90 shipped. (no ethernet)

TV won't turn on unless unplugged and plugged again

First thing I want to mention is that this might not be software a fault, but since this is my first Android TV, *maybe* you can help me!

So, I bought this TV (you can find a user manual on the link in case you need it) a couple of days ago. It worked fine for the first couple of days but then, one morning, I just couldn't turn it on with my remote. I thought it was a bug or something, so I unplugged the TV from the wall and plugged it back in and everything was fine. I turned it on *with the remote* and everything was back to normal (as in, I used the remote normally and everything was OK)
Next day, same thing. I decided to reset the TV to it's factory settings. I proceed to install the only four apps I need on my TV, and those are YouTube, Spotify, Twitch and Stremio.
But the problem remained.

Few things to note:

-the remote works just fine

-there's an LED indicator on the TV that reacts to remote buttons. When the TV is powered off, it's red and when it's on it's green.

-the LED also switches for a second when powering on the TV for the first time after I plug it back in, but it DOESN'T when I turn it off in the night and try to power it on in the morning (it stays red)

WeChip W2 with Sony Android TV

Hello,

I have an air mouse controller WeChip W2 connected via USB to Sony Bravia 65XG8096 Android TV.

The problem that i have is that:

the volume buttons are not working.
the mouse button and functionality is not working
the touch pad is not working
The google assistant bottom is not working.

i tried also the button mapper app but can not detect those buttons to remap.

the most important for me is that the volume+ and volume- are not working

can you help me please?

Android 9: Is there a way to change TV settings without switching the HDMI input

I currently have an old LG LCD TV with their older firmware where it was possible to access "quick settings" when you move the Magic Remote at the bottom corner.
So you are able to use the remote even when the Source was HDMI and were able to change display/sound settings on the fly and see the direct new settings.

Is this possible with Android 9 as well?
I'm considering the Sony A8H (Android 9) as my next TV but if such a thing is not possible with Android TV I might eventually choose the LG CX because I know it's possible there.

I don't want to be forced change from HDMI to change settings in a fullscreen menu on my TV (I can't even remember when I wasn't on HDMI the last time and switching back afterwards)

4K buffering on the new Chromecast while using Cinema HD app | Anyone else having this issue even with good internet speed?

Add Play Store To Apps/Home Screen of Google TV (new Chromecast)

As some of you might know, Google TV now has a proper version of the Play Store, however there is no good way to get to it. Here is my solution - using this tool, you can make a shortcut 'app' that launches some other installed app, and it will show up on your home screen properly. So I made one for the play store and it works beautifully.

If you don't want to make your own, you can install mine. Enjoy :)

MiBox S freeze

Hi We have a MiXox S and we have to power cycle it multiple times daily. It freezes, shows black screen in Youtube or Netflix and reboots randomly. Has anyone found a fix for this?

I'm considering upgrading to ChromeCast with Google TV or Nividia Shield. Do you have any suggestions?

Looking for recommendation on an Android TV box that supports 4K HDR AND the HDMI port supports ARC (Audio Return Channel). Currently my PI 3 does ARC but no 4k. It's really nice to control my reciever's audio with my PI remote and enjoy 4K HDR goodness.

Hi. Does anybody know what the title of this app is? It is integrated to the built-in Live Channels app and just like TVirl, it has its own icon on the app which serves as a clue what it is.

MiBox 3.Android 9

Ever since my MiBox 3 updated to android 9. There have been a series of problems with temporary fixes.

There is no ethernet all of the sudden. Just unplug the ethernet adapter and plug back in.

No audio after sleep. Reboot

Video playback stuck it endlessly loading after sleep. Reboot

Remote not responding or frozen at random times. Reboot.

I was wondering is there a permanent fix/update. Because after time these problems are really annoying and I don't want to keep doing these temporary.

Edit: Some relief as we wait for another update to fix this stinkn problem.
