What can android tv do that firetv cannot?

by git_world

Hello, I have an xiaomi mi box s. I discovered that firetv stick costs half the price and offers the same features or app support. I actively use netflix, disney plus, amazon prime, chromecast.

Can someone please enlighten me about what advantages does android tv box like mi box offer that fire tv does not? Thanks.

Fire Stick has all the Amazon bloat. Fire Stick has Alexa. The Amazon interface is pretty bad. Otherwise, some apps work on one and not the other. I personally have both devices due to that. Fire stick is smaller, so easier to travel with, imo.

Regarding Andriod TV, your options vary depending on your device. My primary is a Mecool KM9 pro, I also have the i Box s and a dynalink. With the Mecool I have 4gb memory and 32gb storage. I have two usb ports for external drives and a card reader. After disabling the stock Android Tv launcher, I was able to customize my home screen to my liking w/o having to deal with constant advertising for services I don't have. I also don't suffer any lag or overheating. The biggest plus is being able to connect through ethernet. All in all, your choice really depends on your preferences and your usage. Personally, I advocate for Android TV. Three for three, even the budget box. Firestick only has 1.5gb memory. tiny storage.

Fire stick doesn't have free to air TV due to no antenna input. Not sure if Xaiomi does, but my Vodafone TV unit does.

As mentioned already the Fire stick is bloated with Prime content and limited customisation ability.

Fire stick does give better quality picture than the Vodafone TV and also seems to sync better with my Bluetooth speakers.

No ads, no bloatware.

Customize the interface. There are file managers on the Play Store so sideloading is simpler from the start.
