How to easily get rid of all the homescreen ads, etc

Just created a kids profile for my daughter and the home screen is completely locked down showing just the apps you allow.

If you allow all apps and set no restrictions you'll have a simple app list with no ads and it's aaaall good.

Google TV G10 reference remote on Sony XH900

Hello,

Few weeks ago I ordered an Android TV box: Mecool KM2. I bought it because it comes with the new Google TV G10 reference remote.

Tried the new remote and it's amazing (personal opinion, compared to Sony XH900 original remote). I have only one complain about it: the sources, settings and those 4 buttons for apps are not working when connected to TV.

I tried Button Mapper to fix this issue but no luck. When I try to add one of those buttons to assign a custom action no button is detected (but the white LED of TV is blinking). Any suggestions on how I can make those button work?

Playing music files kept in PC on android tv

I am looking for the best solution to replicate Spotify's behaviour for playing local music files from one device on another, i.e., I can control playback of music on my pc and play them via my android tv box (Mi Box 4K) (it's attached to my amp/speakers). Which app can do that except Plex?

I have tried Plex but it's casting feature is awful, constantly breaks off after playing 3-4 songs. Another problem is that pressing the skip buttons skips 2-3 songs in the playlist. Basically my experience hasn't been great. I have used the web browser app, Windows app, and MacOS app. ALl behaving similarly.

Google Play test for "world news"

Thanks to those who helped me sort out the listing for my TV News app on Android TV.

I am trying experiment with how easy it is for people to discover my app.

What happens when you search Google Play Store on your Android TV for: tv news

Our voice search for "world news apps"

For both I am seeing my simply named "TV News - World News" app as #4 result for both searches ... which is very good. I have the blue TV icon with a white screen and the words "TV NEWS" on the screen.

What position is the app is it for you???

Bonus: For "news" via Google Play Store: 44

I think one challenge I will have is that lots of general voice searches from a top Android TV conveniently pull you straight into YouTube content. I'm not complaining however, because the YouTube API helps power my app! I just curated a more global and diverse playlist of more serious news channels.

How do I enable audio pass through?

I have looked online but can’t seem to find the setting for enabling audio passthrough for all apps?

I’m using a Sonos Arc 5.1.2 setup and it works fine with Plex with passthrough enabled but other apps such as iPlayer play stereo only.

How do I enable it for everything?

TIA :)

Thanks guys. :)

Default android tv media player on Sony Bravia

I have a Sony Bravia X95G.

I have sideloaded the gdrive app on the tv.

I can access mydrive as well as folders shared with me.

I have 4k movies in the shared folders.

When i click play, it plays with the inbuilt video player and the video loses it's quality/resolution.

Is there a way to change the default player on the TV to Kodi/VLC?

The gdrive kodi addon is not an option as i cannot view the drives shared with me there.

Thanks in advance!

No SPDIF Dolby/DTS audio passthrough when connected to beamer, only when connected to TV

I have a Mecool KM2 (Android TV version 10) with optical SPDIF audio output connected to Logitech speakers with Dolby Digital/DTS decoder support. When the HDMI output is connected to my TV, 5.1 audio passthrough works fine, to HDMI as well as to SPDIF. When the HDMI output is connected to my beamer without audio (or not connected to anything for that matter), the SPDIF sound is only PCM stereo.

I configured the supported sound formats manually in the sound menu, but that does not help, it seems the SPDIF output only works in passthrough if the connected HDMI device supports it.

What am I doing wrong ?

Read only filesystem on formatted Samsung/EVO970Plus - USB 3.x - AndroidTV 10

I have a mecool mk6 with AndroidTV 10.
I hook a SSD → Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB → using an external HDD case USB 3.1 to the box. The box recognized the HDD and I can format it as an external device (I don't want to get all app etc. on this External HDD).

As soon as I want to try to add a directory or file I get the notification that the external HDD named "Android" is readonly !!!

If I hook it to a windows 10 machine I can write on the external HDD without any problem. When I put it back on the Mecool MK6 read only again.

Anyone knows how I will get this external SDD mounted to be writable?

Possible to update launcher on tivo?

I'm not a fan of the new home screen ads, but on my Jetstream I can at least toggle over to the apps tab (or discover). It looks like my tivo is on an older launcher that only has the home screen, which sometimes has some very irrelevant content I can't dismiss. Is there a way to update the launcher?

Just setup a Tivo Stream 4k plugged into a ceiling mounted computer monitor. I'm currently using an Amazon echo 4th gen as the speaker, and found that I can't control the volume with the remote. Anyone know of any Bluetooth speakers that android TV can adjust the volume of directly through the remote?

Sorry, this is really my first foray into stationary bluetooth audio. Thanks in advance!
