Google Play test for "world news"

by TVNewsApp

Thanks to those who helped me sort out the listing for my TV News app on Android TV.

I am trying experiment with how easy it is for people to discover my app.

What happens when you search Google Play Store on your Android TV for: tv news

Our voice search for "world news apps"

For both I am seeing my simply named "TV News - World News" app as #4 result for both searches ... which is very good. I have the blue TV icon with a white screen and the words "TV NEWS" on the screen.

What position is the app is it for you???

Bonus: For "news" via Google Play Store: 44

I think one challenge I will have is that lots of general voice searches from a top Android TV conveniently pull you straight into YouTube content. I'm not complaining however, because the YouTube API helps power my app! I just curated a more global and diverse playlist of more serious news channels.

Unfortunately, I think the app itself is kind of trash. It's just one more aggregator for free videos that are readily available in tons of other places/other apps and lousy Kodi add-ons. The logos are squished. I saw Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel channels, among other things that had nothing to do with news. It's bad. Clearly just an excuse to throw ads at the user. I wouldn't recommend it, sorry.

I have tried using your app on my Nvidia Shield and I am having troubling navigating the app with my remote control. When I open the app I can navigate the first screen with my remote, but when I click on an icon, like CBS News for instance, it takes me to a page with various news stories from CBS. I can navigate it horizontally with my remote but not vertically. To do that I need a mouse.
