Locked Android TV

by bijaya44

So in my country internet service providers distribute android tvs with tv channels so we HAVE to buy it to watch national channels via internet or we have to go full on cable route. But the problem is that they sell the android tv with just there app and youtube app. cant even click any links in feedback option of youtube and also i cant find a way to access browser. (i know its android cuz it updates automatically sometimes)(probably to fix any way people might access internet search option). So do you guys have any tip on how i can unlock full android version or download anything else? i just want twitch there man

It likely has a custom launcher and likely runs the tablet version of Android underneath. Is the YouTube app the tablet version or the TV version?

providing actual device information l ie a link to the mftr/providers page, or make/model info would be helpful in order to answer this.

  • Does device have the Google Play Store?

If device is so locked down that it doesn't even have the PlayStore then you have problems and should give up hope of installing any other apps.

  • Does the Settings include option to "Install Apps from Unknown Sources" ???

That is good sign that you can "sideload" apps.

  • If you press dpad_center 7 times on the "Build number" in Settings does the device activate "Developer Options" ???

If so can activate "USB Debugging" and force install an APK with ADB tools.

~Good Luck.

Your service provider doesn't have a website? Is this even an Android TV device?

There is no good reason why any provider would put a web-based YouTube browser instead of the official Android TV version.

Anyways without giving some more... any more information, I don't know how anyone's going to be able to help you.
