Sony XBR-65X900C Boot Loop

Am currently having issues with my 65 inch Sony where it’ll boot up, go to the android screen for about 3-5 seconds, freeze and power down. It then boots itself back up and does the same thing over and over. I’ve tried unplugging for short amount of time, long amounts of time, I’ve tried holding power/volume down to factory reset (I get the green light but it doesn’t do anything..still is caught in the loop). Is there anything else I can try or is my TV dead?

Can I Use My Standard Cable Box for Live TV on my Android TV?

I just got my first smart tv - a Philips with Android TV - but I’m having some trouble setting it up. If I try to set up Live TV with my cable box hooked up with an HDMI cable, it doesn’t find any channels. When I do it with the cable plugged directly into the TV, no box involved, it finds a lot of my channels, but not all of them, plus the picture is noticeably not good and the guide doesn’t work. I can switch inputs, but it’s not very intuitive and requires we have two remotes. What can I do?

Internal speakers still working even when I set speakers to external audio

Hi,

I was playing with the settings of my external audio and activated the HDMI control option (it has CEC RHID, but no ARC), with that I can control the volume of my TV from the external sound system, and I can mute the external speaker from the TV remote control. Great. But, now both speakers (internal TV and external system) are both on all the time (with a noticeable delay). I tried turning off the TV speaker in Menu -> Speakers and selecting "External audio system", but that keeps the TV speakers on. If I choose the "TV speakers" option in the same menu, the external speaker is muted as expected. With either option, if I press mute (or lower the volume) both the TV and the external speaker gets muted.

I have an HDMI connection from the TV (JVC Android TV) to the external sound system (Onkyo TX-SR507) and a SPDIF cable for 5.1 sound from the TV to the sound system (no ARC on the sound system). Also, the TV is 4K but the sound system is only FullHD, so I need to keep this setup to have 5.1 sound (through SPDIF) and 4K video.

Any suggestion other than turning off HDMI control? Thank you!

Wrongful Error Message: «Wi-Fi Is Not Connected»

Hi! I have a Sony Bravia TV that runs on Android TV.

Today I’ve received the error message «Wi-Fi Is Not Connected» every x minutes.

The wifi works fine on my phone and the network status test says that the connection on the TV works too.

I don’t use the smart functions on the TV, but the error messages are very annoying.

I assume that this a software and not a hardware issue.

I have checked that I have the latest software update.

Is there anything I can do about this?

Using android box as a downloader device?

Hi, I'm currently using my pc and phone to download files over night, is it possible to use android box like mi box s for download files constantly without turning on my TV.

I'm using ADM in my phone, it works perfectly and I can change download location to my connected USB.

I want to connect my USB to it and download everything on that.

Is it possible?, does these android boxes designed to keep working when they're not being used? Can I install ADM on them or similar app that supports Torrent download?

Thanks.

Amazon Prime Infinite Loading

Amazon Prime was working and was able to navigate and check out various trailers. However, once I selected one and tried to play it I got an infinite loading spinner. After that, was not even able to re-enter Amazon Prime and now get the infinite loading spinner.

Naïve googling is useless:

  • Yes, the account is in good standing (can watch on other devices)
  • Yes, the internet connection is good (other services work + Amazon Prime itself works off of the same WiFi network on a Mac)
  • Yes, the latest update to Google Home is applied

I'll google more tomorrow but this was very anti-climatic when trying to enjoy my brand-new TV.

On a related note: is it normal things are this buggy? This is a brand new TV, with the latest update applied. We had a similar annoying problem with Apple TV that required adjusting things in settings + applying updates. So far 50/50 for the most popular apps working (Netflix + HBO worked). We are tech-savvy and its hard for us... I have a hard time imaging how others don't go insane with these types of issues.

How to completely turn off tv

Definition of first world problem…Sorry if already discussed, just bought a Google tv chromecast and hooked it up to 5 year old LG tv. Everything works and looks great however when I click to turn off tv or ask Google assistant to turn off tv it only turns off the chromecast and the tv stays on “searching for signal”. Not sure if it’s the television or something in settings I’m missing.

My mi box is not showing on mi remote app (or any remote app)

Hey guys,

I purchased a mi box s and I wanted to use my cellphone( a Xiaomi mi 9t pro, but I also tried with my girlfriend's iPhone 11) as a remote control, but my mi box simply does not appear on any remote apps available, it states on the mi remote app that it should appear there if it was on the same network but it doesn't... Chromecast seem to be working fine since I can cast from Netflix for example, anyone has any idea what can be done if anything?

Handsfree speech control of TV available?

I'm looking for a new TV where I can control most used features using speech only. That would be: volume control, channel selection, sleep timer. Some TVs have speech recognition, but as far as I've seen you have to press a button on a remote. But if I have to grab my remote anyway I'm faster using standard buttons. So is there any AndroidTV solution where I just can say something like "Ok Google switch to channel XYZ"?

Amazon Fire Cube or Mecool KM2?

Missed out on the Amazon Fire Cube when it was £60 recently as couldn't decide between that or the Mecool KM 2. If Amazon drop their price again then the price is comparable to the KM2. Don't mind the "ads" on Amazon or the OS but not a fan of the remote, KM2 has Android TV but coming from China, the warranty will be limited.

Has anyone tried both and how do they compare with each other?

Cheers

If anyone still don't know. Google home app has now added the Google TV / Android TV remote. Just click on the device and at the bottom left corner you will see the Open Remote button. I’ve made an app for controlling Philips Hue smart lights from your Android TV remote. Looking for feedback!

(Sorry mods if this breaks any rules, feel free to delete)

I’m hoping people might find a little app I’ve made called Hue Shortcuts useful and I’m eager to get some early feedback. It’s totally free with no in-app purchases.

It’s for Android smart TVs/set top boxes to control Philips Hue smart lights. Use the app to create shortcuts to Hue lights/scenes and run them from spare buttons on your remote. For example my Sony TV has never-used buttons for HELP, TELETEXT, Netflix, etc - now they turn lights on or off instead.

Once you set up shortcuts and assign a button you can run them any time the TV is on regardless of what you’re watching. Or create a shortcut to the app UI which just slides out over whatever you’re doing and gives you quick access to run other shortcuts.

Search for Hue Shortcuts in the Play Store on your TV or see the store listing here:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.mcneill.hueshortcuts

All feedback/ideas/complaints are welcome. I made this for myself but I hope others like it too. Thanks!

AndroidTV Stick/Box that has PVR?

I think I may have spotted a gap in the market. AndroidTV now has a live channels app which allows people to watch live tv but none of the marketing leading hardware has a built in tuner or expandable storage. Obviously FireTV and NVidia Shield.

Does anyone know of any hardware that runs Android TV with a tuner and hard drive for storing shows?

Ive seen the Humax Aura but it does not have Netflix!

One click close all apps

I had an app for Android TV, a file manager I think it was, that had a one click button to close all apps. But I had to factory reset my device and now I can't remember what that app was. I've installed a bunch of file managers from the play store but can't find one with that feature

Does anyone know the app that I'm talking about, or know one that does the same as?

Thanks

Ads / Recommendations on Home Screen (GoogleTV)

Hi,

I have a Sony A80J which I bought recently.

First thing I did was set it to apps only mode as I don't want full screen sized ads for Apple TV.

It was fine, until last night. The ads have come back despite being in apps only mode. I tried turning apps only mode off, restarting, then turning it back on again, no luck.

How can I get rid of them?

I tried searching and I found talk of sideloading software(?), but I'm not sure about doing that as I don't want to void my warranty

Thank you
